Kate being ‘prioritised’ over Meg by dress designer?

ToughTalker · 14/01/2023 20:19

Apparently Meg said ‘but she’s not even Queen’!

This is just hilarious - a not very well known actress with a secondary role in a Canadian TV show thought she was on a par with a future Queen and mother of a future King after being in the RF for a few minutes. This was early in the relationship as well.

Seems like the old green eyes was at the crux of all this nonsense after all!

Just imagine joining a family where you find out you're expected to curtsey to your SIL. Can you see where the AIBU threads here would end up going? What proportion of family threads on here are already banging on about difficult SILs?

It must seem utterly bonkers to Americans.

She wasn't expected to curtsy to Kate though, not until Kate is Queen. Then she'd be expected to continue curtsying to the Queen.

Erdem prioritising a long term, regular customer over a newer one is hardly surprising. I mean the Duchess of Kent has worn Erdem a few times - I bet she never had a whinge if they prioritised

I’m not mad about this. I really don’t think my eyes could have coped with two Duchesses wearing this dress… 🤣

That almost makes Kate look fat, so it wouldn’t be a good look on anyone else.

So this isn't actual fact since you said apparently she said this. So it could all be made up and yet your here to bash a women and mock her over something you don't know is actually true.

This!!!

HairyKitty · 14/01/2023 21:25

Imagine being a grown woman who’s so stupid as to not realise that curtseying to your sil will be required 🙄

Yes ,how very dare she. Nouveau riche crass American actress!
I'm hoiking my bosom and clutching at my pearls as we speak!

She must know her place! How DARE she think she is more important than a queen!

In fact Peter Cook and Dudley more did a very good explanation on this . I will try and alert her too it somehow!

This is Meghan putting a hierarchical narrative on it, no? Putting ‘a ring on it’, just awful but not Kate’s fault. The polarised view of love / hate is depressing.

ToughTalker · 15/01/2023 02:29

This!!!

It’s been printed in the Telegraph as a direct quote and I’m sure their legal bods looked over it before printing knowing how M&H sue newspapers!

As for mocking her, imagine joining the most famous billion $ firm in the world as a junior associate, not bothering to find out anything about the way the firm worked, hugging the President when meeting for the first time and deciding immediately that you were on the same level as the Vice President who’d been there for years then throwing a hissy fit because your office was smaller than theirs and you didn’t have the same priority as them for use of the company jet. In addition also being so rude to your subordinates and making them cry that they left in droves.Nuts!

I’m wondering if Meghan had been given a budget for clothes at this point (as in paid for by the RF/us). Would the RF have been paying for her clothes before the wedding? Can’t imagine the mind set of someone having a tantrum about not being able to get a particular designer’s dresses quick enough if you’re not even paying for them yourself if so!

I got deleted for suggesting the OP might have name changed?! Wowzers. I curtsey in apology MNHQ.

NeuroWasabi · 15/01/2023 04:35

'Palace source' again eh? We now know what that means. Where's the outrage about Harry's family leaking stories about him and his wife?

Blufelt · 15/01/2023 05:59

This whole debacle has basically been about Meg not liking the fact that being a duchess is not the same as being an A list celebrity. She was salty about having to undertake duties and annoyed that many of the perks of celebrity were forbidden. She wants top billing and didn’t like being further down the list of importance, which is where she would always be in the RF.

ivykaty44 · 15/01/2023 06:36

@JADS. Seems they wore the same dress or an alteration at some point

As a poster on another thread said, this debate about clothes, wedding or every day, is setting back the cause of female empowerment.

If they did - you could quite rightly tell them to pull themselves together.

They really would look like a pair of curtains.

But none of it's a secret. If you don't like it you don't have to join the family business.

I don't think even Harry has claimed that every "palace sources" story is direct from his family, and if he has he's nuts.

It's pretty clear that - for whatever reason - Meghan pissed off a lot of the staff. Especially post "Spare" many of them will be even more annoyed and have their own motivations for speaking to the press. Plus £££ might be involved

Bowing is the male equivalent. Not saying it's a great thing, but it isn't something only women do.

YukoandHiro · 15/01/2023 08:43

levellingleveller · 15/01/2023 08:46

ScribblingPixie · 14/01/2023 20:52

It's in an article in The Telegraph written by the Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey who has put it in quote marks so she must be confidant about her source. It is quite funny:
Erdem Moralıoğlu was one of Meghan’s absolute favourites, but even after Harry had put a ring on it, Kate, who was already a client, continued to get priority.... Suffice to say the notion of her soon-to-be sister-in-law receiving preferential treatment did not, it is claimed, go down well with Meghan, especially as she “wasn’t even Queen”.

I have been quoted in the paper in quote marks, and I completely never said what I was quoted as saying. The journalist completely made it up.

We've had that too -DH in my case, journo had a story in mind with an angle and wanted DH to be his human interest example of it. Except it didn't apply to him at all and he clearly told the journo that. Still put out the story with the angle he'd wanted, naming DH

Total nonsense

NooNakedJacuzziness · 15/01/2023 08:51

It makes you wonder what the hell Harry actually told Meghan about what marrying him would involve. She didn't know she had to curtsey to the Queen until just before they met, didn't know there's a hierarchy. Did he keep his gob shut so she wouldn't run for the hills?

ReneBumsWombats · 15/01/2023 08:55

But if he had deliberately declined to tell her, wouldn't she have been angry that he let her commit all the various faux pas?

Women can bow if they wish

Within the family it's a curtsey always, but there's so few of them that it's not really a set back for most. Especially not over the previous 70 years when the recipient of that mark of respect was a woman
