The royal family

Congratulations to Prince Harry

Harry is the first Senior Royal to leave the family and make his own living. Edward had to receive a stipend for his lifetime. Edward tried to make his own living and had to crawl back to the family after his production company failed. Harry is the only one who has managed to leave and make his own living.

So congratulations Harry and well done on showing everyone that you can make it on your own.

Hello Meghan.

I was going to say the same!

clyspa · 12/01/2023 05:17

Respectfully Bradfordgirl you are verging on the crazy

SD1978 · 12/01/2023 05:25

Erm- yeah. No. The only income he is in on the back of who he is, and his ongoing attempt to destroy the RF........he has not successfully enjoyed an income stream of his own merit yet and probably never will.

ComfortablyDazed · 12/01/2023 05:26

It’s been three years, OP. Little too soon to call ‘success’. Grin

Namaste6 · 12/01/2023 05:29

@Ridemeginger 👏👏👏

Sorry OP, respectfully, your post is nonsense. There is a very clear, distinct difference in 'making it on your own' and selling your family and others out for profit. Hard working he most certainly is not.

OFFS someone stop the OP from starting anymore of these threads please!!

foremostwilly · 12/01/2023 05:48

Congratulations might be in order if he got an actual job doing something that needs doing.

Your from Bradford enough said with the jokes.

That made me chuckle 🤣, any one from round West Yorkshire knows that if you were from there you certainly would not be putting in your name 🤣🤣🤣.

Makes me think they searched city of culture UK and thought that will do 🤣.

Megs is that you......

Same here I'm no royalist but he left his highly dysfunctional family to be with the one he loves and is a nice affable guy to boot and us beckoning American royalty. This couple is going to be HUGE whatever the Daily Mail or the British pisserati thinks about it.

As is typical of the celebrity/business world, they wanted to capitalise on the next big thing, to garner favour in the future. I somehow think JayZ and Beyonce regret doing this now but I could be wrong.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 12/01/2023 08:40

I'm sure that if Edward had decided to shit all over his family he too could have earnt a fortune.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 12/01/2023 08:44

I know! And it's the Meghan haterz that are described as deranged.

TrashyPanda · 12/01/2023 09:02

In the words of Robert Browing:

just for a handful of silver he left us.

Harry has shown there are no depths he will not plumb.
and he’s shown himself to be incredibly stupid and nauseatingly arrogant.

what a plonker.

Does selling your family count as “making it on your own”?

😂😂😂

If so its exactly what all the other royals do and always have been. Remember Airmiles Nonce and Peter Philips flogging his wedding pictures to "hello" magazine, all of them trading access to palaces, other royals and government contacts for money?

The other royals aren't shy of spilling the beans either - look at the endless tawdry crap sent to the media via "a royal source", "friends of the royals" etc leaking about each other to score points and take the media attention of their own dodgy behaviours.

His multi billion family told him to be a full time royal in a country where his wife was receiving right wing death threats or to fuck off an make his own money. So he chose the latter. Good for him.

According to that beacon of truth, Prince Harry…

As for all the royals selling their family, really? I didn’t notice Prince William’s book or Kate’s, I must look them up some time.

Your point about escaping death threats in the UK is particularly ironic given Harry’s comments about the Taliban. He has deliberately exposed himself and his family to retaliation by the Taliban…and you’re congratulating him.

According to what I've seen and watched for decades. Did you miss the reports of the more egregious cashing in on royal connections? Harry didn't invent Airmiles Nonce, the Kents (Michael, not the Duke) having a charge rate for the level of royal/official introduction, the Hello magazine wedding shoot sold for high six figure sums? Those are the tip of the iceberg.

The leaking to the press via "friends" has also been going on for decades plus of course the trigger for the TV interview format was when Charles got dear chummy Jonathan Dimbleby to do his soft focus spill-the-guts interview in the hope of undermining Diana (who then responded in kind). They don't need book deals - they have a network of PR/friends to act as "royal sources". It just makes a change for them all to be targeting one person instead of each other.

Meghan was getting death threads - as cited by UK security services. If you think military personnel don't keep kill counts you need to meet some. He hasn't made himself or anyone else any more of a target than he already was when he was denied the right even to pay for official security when visiting the country.

There was an opportunity for the family to take a different way - they could have agreed just a low key role or a "career break" away for a few years with the door left open. Maybe put a tiny amount of the massive family fortune in a trust to help Harry continue the initiatives he started whilst William was still contemplating his navel. But William and Charles chose to shut the door and tell them it was full time or nothing. You reap as you sow.

Coxspurplepippin · 12/01/2023 23:18

'Meghan was getting death threads - as cited by UK security services.'
As are all the other senior members of the RF, all the time.

'If you think military personnel don't keep kill counts you need to meet some.'
They may well do. 99.9% of the military don't publish them. Most never even talk about them.

'they could have agreed just a low key role or a "career break" '
They were offered this option but didn't want it.

'The leaking to the press via "friends" has also been going on for decades'
Well Scobie's been at it for a few years now.

Really? Which members of the family has received race based death threats from far right groups? Which other members have received so many that the UK security services spoke out about it?

They may well do. 99.9% of the military don't publish them. Most never even talk about them.

You might want to mix with more military or visit their pubs. Its part of the training. Harry remains popular with the military because of the graft he put into publicising the plight of veterans, campaigning for them and the creation of Invictus for disabled vets. All done whilst William was contemplating his navel.

They were offered this option but didn't want it.

No not even the palace claimed that. They were clear it was in or out.

Leaking and using the press to publish their own version of events was going on before Harry was born. Charles was the first to industrialise it - he was never going to keep his opinions to himself, he never has done. Harry has put it in a book instead of the front page of the tabloids.

Interestingly I've been reading the book - something I'd probably never have done if the press (and MN) hadn't gone into a frenzy of hate and vitriol without even seeing the text. It bears very little resemblance to the press reports so far. You might want to do the same before judging it.

Coxspurplepippin · 13/01/2023 08:40

You didn't say right wing, race based death threats, you said death threats. TBH if I was receiving death threats I wouldn't particularly care where they came from. The security services (particularly Neil Basu) spoke about it because he was asked specifically about Meghan. No-one asked about the rest of the RF. I'm surprised he gave details tbh, not sure that was a good idea

'You might want to mix with more military or visit their pubs' Grin. Well, you know nowt about me. As for it 'being part of the training ', what, blabbing your kill numbers? Don't be ridiculous.
Harry being popular among the armed services, he may have been at one time, but there's plenty within the services who now think he's an idiot and has actually put Invictus at risk.

'No not even the palace claimed that. They were clear it was in or out.'
After their marriage the Queen offered them a period of adjustment, time out of the spotlight to settle in to married life, Meghan could have gone back to her acting career, Harry could have explored what he wanted to do with his life. They refused the offer. Wanted to 'hit the ground running'. Wise woman, HMQ.

I am reading the book. But due to Harry's claim that his memories are as valid as the actual truth I'm taking an awful lot of it with a huge pinch of salt.

He seems to be fixated on his mother, has turned her into a saint, and has put Meghan on a similar pedestal. Not the basis for a healthy, equal relationship. He seems stuck in his teenage years emotionally.

MensisIanuarius · 13/01/2023 08:51

He hasn’t invented anything, nor set up and run a successful company and made millions.

He’s sold his soul to the devil. He’s a traitor, a Judas and the money is his 30 pieces of silver. His other money was inherited. This is my opinion, and I don’t even care that much.

I predict that Harry’s wealth will dwindle rapidly. He will end up with less than 50% when Meghan dumps him, he has to pay £3m a year security and he has a lavish lifestyle etc. etc. He has nowhere else to make money now. This is it. He’ll be cap in hand to the British govt. funded by our taxes within 10 years. He’ll be back in that cottage, whinging again.

But the tabloid vitriol you are repeating as fact is not to be taken with a huge pinch of salt. Plainly you know very different military to me if none of them recognise the concept of kill counts and are shocked by them. We are not going agree on this so I'll leave you to your little obsessions over H&M and lighting candles for the saints in the palaces.

As a royal he drove and sponsored large projects - just like Charles drove the start up of the Prince's Trust and Philip drove the DofE award schemes. William had done sod all by the same age.

Harry hasn't sold out any more than all the other royal leeches selling access to the palace, to other royals, to government officials, to awards etc. They all do it. They all spill the beans via leaks and "sources close to".

The difference is Harry isn't pretending not to do it.

3peassuit · 13/01/2023 09:15

A lot of minor royals have monetised their position but they have managed to avoid slinging mud at the institution.

ImBlueDab · 13/01/2023 09:16

Do I get congratulations for leaving my parents and warming my own money? Grin

stormywaves · 13/01/2023 09:17

Er no. Safe to say the girls beat him to it with Zara (without the prop of a HRH title) & her brother (Philip?), even Beatrice & Eugenie sort of got the hang of it eventually and are all out there doing their thing.

Coxspurplepippin · 13/01/2023 09:20

No tabloid vitriol from me, soz. I'll leave you to your unquestioning support for the bloke making millions selling his family down the river via his tome of unverifiable memories truths.
