His publisher has confirmed he's sold 400,000 copies across all formats in ONE DAY. That's probably a record breaking amount for a memoir.

If the story flying around tonight even has a grain of truth , Harry will regret this .

Which is ?

What’s flying around?

XanaduKira · 10/01/2023 22:58

I wondered that too @Octopusmittens & @lollipoprainbow

I’d be embarrassed to be seen with that book in my hands TBH.

I'd be more embarrassed holding the daily Lie Mail myself 🤣

Inyournewdress · 10/01/2023 23:06

I’m sure lots, well all, of us would love to have all the money Harry has made from his books and interviews etc.
But how many of us would think it worth selling our own family to get it? I know I wouldn’t. So no amount would make me think of it as a laugh of any sort.
I wonder how people would have felt if the Queen had been alive to read this latest episode of Harry carelessly trashing the values she spent her life trying to uphold, as he might well have expected her to be. He claims to have loved and been protective of his Granny but when she was at her frailest he was prepared to put her through that. I guess after Harry accused the royals of racism (oh yes you did) pretty much while his grandfather was in hospital and close to dying, she wouldn’t have been surprised, but still.
Of course they live so lavishly they will run through that money in no time and have to release some more snipes at the royal family.

The joke is there isn’t really anything particularly outrageous or interesting in the book from what I have heard.

I only found out his real name is Henry a few weeks ago! Not sure why he is known as Harry?!

I remember soon after Harry was born the RF announced his name was Henry Charles Albert David, but he would be known as Harry. No idea why.

Maybe Diana liked the name Harry, but Charles or the Queen insisted he had to have a traditional royal name?

caringcarer · 10/01/2023 23:09

I wonder if the 'inaccuracies' in the book means he can be sued?

He claims he was at Eton in his room when told about his Grandmother's death. He was in Klosters skiing with his Dad and William. Photo of him getting off plane day after she died.

He claimed his Aunt have him an Xbox for his 13th birthday but turns out that was 4 years before they were invented.

Why people pay good money to read his lies is beyond my comprehension.

ArseInTheDogBowl · 10/01/2023 23:09

Harry was the medieval 'spoken form' of Henry- pretty sure Henry VIII was known as Harry.

Well, in The Tudors that's what Thomas More called Henry anyway 😁

People should read "The Palace Papers" by Tina Brown , an eye opener to the shenanigans around the royal family.

Nah she’s a mate of Chuck and a royalist, hardly trustworthy. It’s full of puff.

caringcarer · 10/01/2023 23:12

I think a few people will be returning books to Amazon after all the leaks. Tesco selling for £8.

Michelle Obama sold 750k in her first week and went on to sell over 14m copies

But that was a good book

Yes her book is worth reading. She's funny and wise and chatty and warm. Compare with Harry who is mean and petty and settling scores.

Wow good for him! He’s donating a large amount to charity as well. Amazes me why so many people who dislike him spend so much time reading and commenting on him. He’s getting paid for his thoughts, the Daily Fail etc get paid for spinning their crap, but what do Mr and Mrs Angry But Keep Reading Anyway get out of it?

Can you post a link/source to this "large amount" they are supposedly donating please?

She also describes being a woman of colour in a traditional, male dominated environment and how she dealt with it. Shame she wasn’t asked for some advice.

Erm because the traditional nickname for Henry is Harry - always has been. Harry has only been used as a name in its own right more recently.

My great, great, great grandfather, born in 1834, was christened Harry . Not exactly new

Harry and Henry are interchangeable in the same way as Jack and John,
even though Jack and Harry have become given names in their own right. (As well as abbreviations for other names eg Harold(!) and Jackson)

But he's basically traded his family for this book money 🤷‍♀️

When Meghan leaves him he's going to be a very lonely man

Nah, one of the Kardashians will take him.

PerfectYear321 · 10/01/2023 23:29

I've listened to the introduction to the book. It's really intriguing and well-written. Nothing like I would have guessed it would be like from the threads on here (I refuse to read tabloids)

Lovely vocabulary and imagery, and intimate details I didn't expect. Very very surprising.

BellePeppa · 10/01/2023 23:35

I just hope all this money they’ve finally raked in will mean they go away. They don’t need make money for quite a while so for the love of god I hope they disappear for a very very long holiday.

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2023 23:36

PerfectYear321 · 10/01/2023 23:36

I wonder if he had coaching to narrate the book, because his voice is perfect! I'm pleasantly surprised to discover that he is an intelligent, thoughtful and reflective guy. Who knew! 👀

normalgirl · 10/01/2023 23:39

Harry has been through a very tumultuous childhood with very weak support systems. His wife was hounded out of Britain by a vitriolic press. The papers twisted the narrative to create drama on a daily basis. This book is perhaps his catharsis. We don't know any of these people,we haven't been through what they have been through. Our opinion of the RF is framed entirely by the press and their main aim is to sell papers.Don't read the book of you don't want to.Be kind ,it never goes out of fashion.

The press seem to have twisted his words (quelle surprise!)

Apparently the bit about him losing his virginity is him imagining what Rebekah Brooks, the News Of The World hacking editor person - who he calls 'a pustule on the arse of humanity' -would write about him.

PerfectYear321 · 10/01/2023 23:42

Well when you get to that bit , you can tell us whether it was "apparently" or not. 😃
