Harry not invited on plane

Prince Harry claims he was not invited on his family’s private royal jet after hearing the news that Queen Elizabeth II was dying.
“I asked my brother — I said, ‘What are your plans? How are you and Kate [Middleton] getting up there?’” the Duke of Sussex recalled during his “60 Minutes” interview with Anderson Cooper that aired Sunday.
“And then, a couple of hours later, all of the family members that live within the Windsor and Ascot area were jumping on a plane together. A plane with 12, 14, maybe 16 seats.”
When Cooper bluntly asked him to clarify whether he was “invited on that plane,” Harry replied, “I was not invited.”

I know at the time it was suggested the plane was delayed because of very poor weather.

10 days before the Queen’s death, an interview with Meghan (promoting her new podcast) had suggested the family were irrelevant, flawed and racist.

Even if he expected the family to rise above it, he and his team were amping up the drama around his relationship with his family to promote his various media projects.

I don’t think the plane occupants would have needed much of an excuse to leave without him and avoid the press analysing their relationship with him as they arrived at Balmoral.

That will also be his problem going forward - he is fundamentally making the same deal with the press that the rest of the family has. At least with the book he isn’t hiding behind a courtier/friends/interviewer feeding questions. However it’s still the same business.

Is that the truth? How do you know.

It was EXTENSIVELY reported at the time by impeccable sources. It was just a few months ago, you should be able to remember it!!!

I could list 2 more reports of the same thing.

Most people were shocked and appalled that Harry would do this.

The minute it was announced that the Queen was Under medical care, ie dying, Harry and Meghan released a statement that they were both on their way to Balmoral. Why? What possible purpose was there for them to publicise their plans other than to raise Meghan's profile by attaching her to a significant family and global event? This must have reinforced to Charles that he didn't want her there getting content for Netflix. I feel sorry that in the literal moment of bereavement he had to give headspace to these grifters.

👏

I imagine they were concerned that their private plane conversations would end up in a book.
You reap what you sow Harry.

Swissmountains · 10/01/2023 08:30

When the situation with the plane and demands for Meghan to be there was even overshadowing the last hours and minutes of her Majesty's life I knew then that those two would sink to any level - there was not a shred of decency or compassion whatsoever.

It was, incredibly, still all about their wants and their demands!

Their motto still standing even on the cusp of such an historical and deeply difficult and huge loss for our country, the commonwealth and the whole world - we were losing something so precious and constant in our lives and yet still all we could hear was the relentless mosquito whine of 'what Meghan wants Meghan gets', even as the Queen actually died..

It was astonishingly poor form. That is what we are dealing with here.

Lets be clear, even at the moment of the Queen's passing Harry was still having a strop about bloody meghan.

Why would I remember it? I don't pay that much attention to Prince Harry's movements.

hoooops · 10/01/2023 08:41

I seem to remember that in the second blurb they put out through Omid Scobie (the first being that Meghan would be going to Balmoral) - he said that only Harry had gone and that "like the Duchess of Cambridge", Meghan was staying in London. I thought at the time - how insecure must you have to be to point out that William's wife isn't going either.

(As if they are at all equivalent when Kate had known the Queen and Charles for so much longer and had been to Balmoral in the summers, unlike Meghan who declined the invitations. And who had managed not to imply they were racist in a televised interview.)

Shampern · 10/01/2023 08:42

May be I am wrong but I thought I read that Harry had to wait fir that same plane to come back for him. My guess is that he knew it would be too late.

Legrandetraitor · 10/01/2023 08:42

I also told everyone this and everyone called me an idiot 😆

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 10/01/2023 08:46

By that point they knew that private conversations would not remain private. Had he boarded that plane we’d now all be subject to “and then the flight attendant gave Willy the peanuts and said she only had speculoos left and he knows I hate cinnamon it’s so unfair”.

Instead of questioning me, you could have done a two second google search to get the answer.

I remember it clearly because I was appalled by Harry and Meghan's actions on such a difficult day, rather than spend time with his dying mother - Charles was forced to personally intervene. It was terrible.

If he had done the right thing and not caused he row, he would have been on the plane with the others.

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 10/01/2023 08:56

No, it wasn’t the “same plane” that came back for him.

NashvilleQueen · 10/01/2023 08:59

Ok so I've not watched a second of any interview nor read any of the snippets save for the losing his virginity one for the laughs. But that won't stop me having a clear view on the matter of course.

This one story is the perfect representation of what's going on here.

Harry believes two totally different things at the same time: (1) that he is sidelined and completely ignored by his family and (2) that his family plan every single decision so as to cause him the most upset and distress.

The very idea of putting your own feelings at the heart of the death of HMQ is bizarre unless you're a bit of a narcissist. I can't begin to imagine the logistics amongst the terrible sadness and yet he genuinely believes that snubbing him was foremost in everyone's minds.

I also really dislike that they gave their child the affectionate family name for the Queen. Elizabeth? Sure. Go for it. Lilibet? Really weird and inappropriate decision.

Thesearmsofmine · 10/01/2023 09:02

Whatever the reason for him not being on the plane I am glad he wasn’t because it would just give him another story for this book.

You could honestly be forgiven thinking that William and Harry were the queen's only grandchildren . Anne's children didn't go, Andrew's didn't, Edward's didn't. Not a peep , not a moan from them (that I've heard). So why does Harry feel so entitled?

Yes this I've never understood why Harry was invited but none of the other 6 were. I can get William due to how this changes the succession line. Just not Harry and even less his view Meghan should be there.

Zara and Peter
Beatrice and Eugine
Louise and James

Lost their grandmother too whom from all I've read they were close to and had a loving bond with.

ThighMistress · 10/01/2023 09:11

@BradfordGirl why did you start this thread? You participated fully in the other thread dissecting this issue. It ran to many pages and you posted constantly. There is no new information that has come out, as the thread was in the wake of Harry’s book.

And surely this is one area where even the most devout H&M fans are a bit “Ooh er, badly done, Harry” as who insists on foisting their wife, one who has publicly slagged off the family, on their grieving father and other relatives?

I'm beginning to wonder if Harry's problem is that he's not the spare any longer. Charlotte is.

I think that is a good point. He has gone down the pecking order so is even less than the spare.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 10/01/2023 09:21

It was only chance that Harry was in England at this time, if he'd been at home in California none of this would have been an issue. An inconvenient truth never to be mentioned.

AutumnCrow · 10/01/2023 09:21

That's a good point about Harry's 'Spareness' being taken away from him.

whynotwhatknot · 10/01/2023 09:35
