What did Prince Harry mean when she said that Camilla was 'dangerous'?

I didn't really understand the explanation he gave in the Anderson Cooper interview, something about her wanting to 'rehabilitate her image'... Why would that be dangerous?

Is it just irrational dislike of his stepmother?

'He said' - sorry. Wish there was an edit function!!!

Dangerous in the sense that she jumped in bed with journalists who wrote nice stories about her in exchange for salacious gossip about Harry and others. It was a quid pro quo.

determinedtomakethiswork · 09/01/2023 08:44

I didn't see it, but I've just read about it, and he seems to be saying that she had a bad image, because of her affair with a married man, and so she was leaking stories to make herself sound better.

BethJ62 · 09/01/2023 08:53

In KC’s eyes , Harry will have crossed a line . Many years ago Charles said that Camilla was” non negotiable “.
During the Netflix whingefest Harry said he offered to give up their titles . Time for KC to graciously accept .

JanusTheFirst · 09/01/2023 09:01

He conveniently forgets his mother was the first to be unfaithful. Silly, silly boy.

ttcstop · 09/01/2023 09:03

I just wish he would quote bloody specifics on exactly which stories were leaked and where he obtained evidence from - instead we are just supposed to take his word for it?

GoingtotheWinchester · 09/01/2023 09:04

@JanusTheFirst youre kidding right? Charles was never faithful to Diana - he carried on his relationship with Camilla the whole time. I’m no massive fan of Diana but to be pretend otherwise it’s absolute crap.

piedbeauty · 09/01/2023 09:07

Absolute bollocks, @JanusTheFirst . Charles and Camilla never stopped their affair.

creamcoffee · 09/01/2023 09:12

how do you all know this,
when their affair started or stopped
dont be ridiculous

Thing is, KC was the one married to Diana. Camilla was cheating on her husband, but it was KC who cheated on Harry's mother. Why it's seen as Camilla's fault is beyond me.

Other than misogyny.

And Harry/his office never interacted with the media in a way to advantage him, or try to? Really?

The working royals (directly or via their offices) all have relationships with the press and their own agendas. It's like we're all stupid and have no idea that this possibly happens. Camilla had an image to portray? Well of course she did. She'd been treated like crap by the media. Unless she's a masochist, of course she'd have wanted that changed.

And btw, where was the bad press about her stemming from? Surely not The Palace?

Harry speaks about it all like they're inanimate objects with no trauma themselves, no real feelings, no hopes, desires, just objects around him who set out to hurt him.

I'd love to be living with his shit life, rather than the one in which my home is cold and my (actually) abusive, estranged relatives haven't given me millions over my lifetime!

No, Charles was having an affair with Camilla right through the marriage. Started before they even got married.

Yes, this. He's implicated Camilla already, if he's so sure of her actions he should say specifically what they were. From memory, most of the negative stuff in the Press about Harry didn't need to be leaked by Camilla or anyone else, it was him being papped falling out of nightclubs and swinging at photographers. Oh and the drunken naked pool (which most people seemed to just find funny at the time, I certainly did)

I recollect that it was Prince Philip who urged Charles to marry Camilla. Definitely remember a letter from him using the words "dignify your life". I think Philip was right, having her hanging around like a spare part, unable to be seen in any official capacity with Charles would have been untenable long term.

100ForCentSilk · 09/01/2023 10:00

They Camilla go to bed with the devil Jeremy Clarkson Piers Morgan.

KC won't like this.

I predict that H&M will rejoin the RF as working royals and KC will make them sign a watertight NDA.

I predict that's the last thing on earth that would ever happen!

That suggests though that there was nice stuff to write about her & there was salacious gossip to write about others.

ArcaneWireless · 09/01/2023 10:10

and so she was leaking stories to make herself sound better

As opposed to selling them to the highest bidder?

Elayna · 09/01/2023 10:16

Doesn’t Harry realise he’s been doing the same thing? And actually, worse, as he’s actively sought to profit off intimate private family moments. And that what’s he’s released is far more salacious than anything they may have leaked?

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 09/01/2023 10:16

When she’s had too many gins she challenges him to a game of trivial pursuit? 🤷‍♀️

TellerTuesday · 09/01/2023 10:16

I don't know if it's a regional or generational thing but where I live there is still a great dislike for Camilla, particularly among the older generation.

I took Harry’s comments to mean that Camilla courted journalists with stories on other RF members in exchange for herself being portrayed in a better light.

JanusTheFirst · 09/01/2023 11:18

How do I know this? From a man who was a royal reporter on a national newspaper at the time. There's a lot more but I really can't be arsed.

People will believe what they want to believe, even if it isn't true. Charles didn't start sleeping with Camilla until after the James Stewart thing.

Yes. There is an attempt to rewrite history here.

BradfordGirl · 09/01/2023 11:23

I suspect the Windsors portrayal of Camilla has a great deal of truth within it.

LizzieSiddal · 09/01/2023 11:31

I watched a programme about Camilla on ITV a couple of months ago, she was in it, can’t remember the interviewer but it was chats with her as she walked in her garden and going about her engagements. There were several friends also talking about her work, I was enjoying it until Jeremy Clarkson popped up, talking about how wonderful she is. They are obviously firm friends so for him to say what he said about Meghan recently, I can understand why Harry thinks Camilla is dangerous.

Lampzade · 09/01/2023 11:36

Camilla was sleeping with his father before and throughout the marriage to Diana.
She even attended the wedding of Charles and Diana. Diana discussed her feelings about this in the television interview
Diana suffered as a result of this betrayal.
Harry lost his mother at a tender age and the woman who was ‘carrying on’ with his father is now Queen consort.

BradfordGirl · 09/01/2023 11:37

@LizzieSiddal I remember that. Jeremy Clarkson and Camilla are obviously firm friends. And yet he wrote about how Meghan should be paraded through the streets naked while people threw things at her.
