Harry killed 25 people in Afghanistan and is upset about being thrown on a dog bowl?

Can't get my head around this honestly. I understand combat is different but I always got the impression that it's mostly strategic work and only a limited percentage of soldiers actually end up killing. A few lives would be bad enough but 25?!! Those were all sons, brothers, husbands and fathers as well.

But yeah, boohoo that he was pushed onto a dog bowl by his older brother and then paid millions and millions to portray himself as a victim of violence.

The only thing I can think of is he trying to get more American support by maybe trying to appeal to their far right.

I'm quite shocked this isn't the main story and there seems to be more interest in who he lost his virginity to

It makes me laugh that there are hundreds of threads here disgusted at the fact that someone has "aired their story" . Have you seen what site you are on? The entire site relishes in people airing their dirty linen in public

I'm sure someone will correct me, but no-one as far as I know has come on here and said 'BTW, I killed 25 Afghans, do you judge me?' So not quite the same as discussing your abusive marriage or MIL issues.

Plus Mumsnet is anonymous! Harry is definitely making no effort to stay anonymous or to protect the identity of his family members and those he has gripes with!

I respect Prince Harry for not fighting back. That is a strength and a sign of a professional- not a weakness. I am dismayed by the squawkers on here who cackle that is the opposite. Hope they’re not bringing up children.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 05/01/2023 22:53

He ran away to protect his family, then announces that he has killed people, presumably members of the Taliban??

Someone is gonna fatwa his ass!

Divebar2021 · 05/01/2023 22:56

I will wait to see if there reports of the two brothers fighting as they were growing up - I don’t recall any reports of it from the Oprah interview or Netflix series. I would find it unusual for a person to suddenly become violent in his 30’s having displayed no aggressive traits before that time.

EsmaCannonball · 05/01/2023 22:59

If I were cynical I'd think he was releasing this information to strengthen his claim that the UK public should continue to fund his security. The poor and struggling having to fund the royal family is bad enough but there is no fucking way we should have to fork out to support the lifestyle of a Californian influencer. Fuck off, Harold.

He claims he’s an anti racist yet doesn’t see the Afghan men he killed as people. I seriously doubt he would feel that way if they were white.

Let's not make this a race problem. He is simply wrong, not racist. He can only think about him and what he wants.

Well I guess people knew he'd been to war so it was already out ther.

isn't it a threat to him, bringing himself to the attention of the taliban?

SemperIdem · 06/01/2023 00:15

He was in active service. There’s a lot of forces men in my family and they never talked of the lives they had taken - but I know they did. It is the nature of the job.

Putting a number on it is questionable, in terms of it sounding risky you’re proud of it but I think Harry is a deeply troubled person and is almost seeking validation, forgiveness maybe, in sharing.

My Dad was a soldier and saw active service several times. I asked him once if he’d ever killed or wounded anyone and he said “I wouldn’t tell you if I had”. I’ve known 100s of soldiers and never known a single one of them want to talk about their “tally”. Find it pretty disgusting that he has released this information tbh and I would guess that most military people will feel the same way.

This. Totally agree. I too come from a military family and know many soldiers who have been on combat operations. Not one discusses this. It is an unspoken pact. If I were generous, I’d say Harry’s words are those of a fantasist.

WeeWillyWinkie9 · 06/01/2023 05:21

25 seems too neat a figure for me. I call it bullshit.

bakalava · 06/01/2023 10:37

There is reams of evidence out there regarding our troops misfiring in Iraq and Afghanistan and the regular coverup of the actual figures to make it look good on paper.
Nobody should casually assume that he killed twenty five Taliban fighters. He may have killed twenty five civilians (including children). It would probably be a much higher number than what was declared and a mixture of people. He would not have been told precisely, he would need to be humble enough to assume, not use it as an opportunity to brag later.

🙄 It’s something that’s been discussed over and over again the reason the Ukraine War has had so much more attention than the Iraq was is because people relate more to victims of their own race. This really is basic stuff.

How many people would you have to kill to stop counting? Personally, I would sorely regret and remember every single one while I still had my humanity.

Agreed and this was the spirit in which it was intended to be said. Don't know why people are immediately jumping to psycho-killer conclusions.
