Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

Badly phrased indeed @Roussette but I too am wondering what it would take to stop you and @MrsMaxDeWinter defending the Sussexes. The two of you remind me of a certain poster who defended Johnson to the hilt throughout Partygate despite the overwhelming evidence against him. Do you seriously believe your increasingly desperate attempts to defend them or have you painted yourselves into the corner?

Please do not liken me to anyone who defends Johnson, that indeed is a slur!

Can you not understand that this is a forum where posters havee different opinions? You can make this personal all you like, but the bottom line is... there would be no forum if everyone agreed with each other!

"The two of you". Rightio. Who shall I lump you with? There's quite a choice.

I'm not desperate and I'm not in a corner, sorry to disappoint.

Yet again for the umpteenth time I will say that Harry should not have numbered the Taliban killed nor called them chess pieces (at this moment in time) but he was lauded for killing Taliban in 2013 by the press.
Swashbuckling Royal
Hero Prince etc.

His timing is wrong and again for the benefit of clarity, I will say he should not have given a number nor talked about chess pieces, he could've talked about his time in the Army in more general terms.

The pp was suggesting that even the vile taliban can see what some of you refuse to. He needs help and fast.

No the taliban aren't 'going to be popular' what an appalling thing to to say. We can only hope they don't instruct crazed jihadists to even up his 'kill' count.

Well... I wouldn't be praising the Taliban for anything they say. But horses for courses. You would.

Novella4 · 07/01/2023 12:11

You let yourself down badly there @Blossomtoes
@MrsMaxDeWinter and @Roussette raise the tone of this place !

Oh I get you now . Must be frustrating to see well written and coherent argued posts that run contrary to the pap fed to you by MSM

So your answer is No - you haven’t read it?

Which means you can’t declare it has a tight narrative thread - so that just leaves you back at speculation.

Or we can do this another way - your way - the snippets you refer to are out of context and not fully / successfully translated - so at this time you are not in any position to declare the book has a tight narrative thread…

This is such an obvious issue, it surely does not need explaining that a book that is 400 plus pages, and has a Part 1 will generally have Part 2 and possibly more @Glindara

But no worries, it's not too long to go now, I will post again on Tuesday when it is officially out in English and update you.

TiddyTidTwo · 07/01/2023 12:12

"So you'd rather take what a vile Taliban leader says than someone from this country who fought them?

Blimey.

Looks like the Taliban are going to popular over here. All because they criticise Harry.
You couldn't make it up" @Roussette

You took that from my post?

Blimey

Oh so you haven’t read it?

But you are so squirming now to avoid saying you were wrong to declare it had a strong narrative thread on the basis that you haven’t read it - that you are now trying to suggest that because it has supposedly further volumes to come - this means it has a strong narrative thread?

Lame.

Rhondaa · 07/01/2023 12:20

Not sure if you've commented amongst your poems and prolonged translation critique @MrsMaxDeWinter but what do you think about revealing William's circumcision, step too far or do we need 3 pages of correctly translated context first?

Can i ask if you think moaning about his bedroom in a sprawling castle sounds petty?

He is being ridiculed everywhere, I absolutely pity him. One wonders where this will end. Badly I would predict.

Yes. Totally.

It's like saying the Taliban agree with me, he needs a Doctor.

Rhondaa · 07/01/2023 12:23

'It's like saying the Taliban agree with me, he needs a Doctor'

Nope. It is saying even the taliban can see he needs help.

Au contraire. My opinion on this issue is formed by the words from the horse’s mouth. What is it they say? When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

@Novella4

What a kind compliment. I have learned a lot from these threads, and love to engage with most posters here.

@Janiie I have not read anything anywhere about William's penis, but if indeed it is in Harry's memoir, then no, he should not have mentioned his brother's penis. Hope to goodness it was not comparing sizes, because yikes, that would be another level.

Can't remember who asked me about Thomas Markle, but I will flip the question and ask why people who have no problem with Thomas Markle speaking his truth now have a problem with Harry speaking his.

That said, the dysfunction and toxic family politics of the royal family has always made Thomas and the whole Markle family seem positively benign in comparison.

Roussette · 07/01/2023 12:36

Does anyone want a tally of current Harry and/or Meghan threads posted on today?

46, yes really!

Blossomtoes · 07/01/2023 12:37

You’ve seriously counted them? That’s a very high level of obsession dedication.

I will flip this question right back and ask those people who demanded silence from TM can’t keep to the same standard?

You go onto Royal Family area and there they all are, it takes about 10 seconds. Not sure how that is obsession? Weird comment from you lol

I haven't look at AIBU or anything. I bet there's some there too!

Harry and Meghan are two most uninteresting people whose only claim to fame is their connection with the British monarchy. They wanted to break free from their duty to the monarchy claiming they wanted privacy in America and we’re allowed to break free but they have done nothing else since but court publicity and the press with the sole aim of making money to fund a lavish lifestyle. Now that would not be in itself a bad thing if it were not done by constantly criticising and whingeing about the very thing which makes them of interest to people - the British monarchy itself. Do I support them in their self-indulgent and narcissistic whining? No I do not. In fact I just wish they would shut up and get on with the private life they say they want

The sheer amount of threads on here and elsewhere suggests otherwise however .

He is being ridiculed everywhere, I absolutely pity him. One wonders where this will end. Badly I would predict.

Have commented on William's penis above, a phrase I never thought I would type.

The Balmoral bedroom things is a PERFECT example of why contextual reading matters. I read it as him talking about the difference in how he and his brother were raised as children, highlighting the heir/spare dynamic, to say even in such things W was treated as the heir and Harry as the also ran.

This is hardly news, there was a lot of coverage about how the Queen Mother used to invite only William to tea etc. I mean, people here get very angry if step kids are not included in presents from non-biological grandparents, so it's a bit bizarre that you cannot enter into the mind of a child who experienced such obvious favouritism as hurtful.

So I did not read it as some do, as Harry moaning about his privilege while people are in a cost of living crisis. I read it as this is how I was raised, from the first we were not raised as brothers, but in our allocated roles.

All this makes me look forward to reading the whole book ... to get the full context.

Meant to add... since the book excerpts have come out , I'm on just 3 of the 46. How many are you on?

Could be an obsession you know Grin

Sure thing. Click on "The royal family" at the top of this thread. That shows this thread is in that section.

It brings them all up. With last post as today or yesterday or whenever.

Totally agree. And how many threads have there been on here about having to cope with a 'golden child' in the family.

I know it. I had it. It's really quite demoralising, and heightened by the structures of the monarchy, it would be far more emphasised.

I am disappointed! I really thought it would be more.

But it makes me happy because I want to do a thread on Tuesday for those actually reading the book, discussing the contents, the literary style, etc, all in real time.

Sort of like a Live Mumsnet Book club. It could even be the start of a real Mumsnet Book Club that we do every month. My favourite royal Thread of all time is the one discussing Ma'am Darling as more and more people read it.

Fun!

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 12:51

Thanks, no worries - I thought you could see which threads had been started when, but it looks like the threads just keep getting bumped up by the most recent post.
