So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

What about the public’s security on 6 May @MrsMaxDeWinter?

The United Kingdom governments put the public's security at risk when it went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq @Blossomtoes

The war on terror brought terror to the UK and to other European countries and the US. It is absurd to say Harry saying he killed 25 endangers the public more than the combined tally of 300 000 killed.

'Took out' Confused.

It hasn't been 'overblown'. Let hope the taliban don't take advantage of this privilege stupid man's self indulgent book and order reprisals.

Apologies. Was using military speak for killing targets. But yes, he killed a top Taliban commander, not "took out". And was hailed in the press at the time.

Blossomtoes · 07/01/2023 10:59

Quoting numbers hasn't made him a target - he already was.

It’s not just about him. Would anyone be surprised now if there was a terrorist attack on 6 May with the aim of taking out 25 people with those responsible referencing this? He’s an absolute fucking idiot to resurrect this now.

Ex military personnel who know they’ve got a target on their back don’t draw attention to it - or at least not those with half a brain.

Nobody would ever be able to sit an English/MFL G.C.S.E if extracts were completely meaningless out of context. What excuses (lost in translation, out of context). But you would, wouldn't you? 😉

Nobody would suggest an extract in an exam represented the whole work though. And it would be very unusual to use a translation of a translation - except as a demonstration of the pitfalls thereof.

Rhondaa · 07/01/2023 11:01

Fwiw i think a 'gaffe' is invading the privacy of family by revealing his db has being circumcised, another gaffe would be crying about how measly his room was in Balmoral (that scruffy sprawling castle) or how they allegedly bought furniture on their credit from IKEA despite both being millionaires.

A 'gaffe' is not revealing what is surely highly sensitive if not actually classified military info, that will be like a red rag to a bull for the volatile taliban all for the millions and the pats on the head.

He is a loose cannon.

Blossomtoes · 07/01/2023 11:03

Never, ever thought I’d agree with you but maybe it’s time to break out the champagne!

Exactly I can't believe the desperate minimising of this. Read the 2 pages of waffle gotta feel the context it makes it ok. No it doesnt!.

Ah well he was target anyway, so what if the taliban decide the number 25 will make a horrific headline sometimes very soon because Harry has had a horrid time of it himself you see.

@Aspiringmatriarch

In the last couple of days, the poster you responded to has alleged that Meghan made a sex tape, paid off the sex tape partner and that she, the poster, is close to Meghan's first husband, and dirt will soon be dished. I now avoid engaging directly with that poster because that way madness lies.

I am not supportive of them.

Nor do I think they were treated well by media.

I hold judgment on how they were treated by RF. As I've only heard their side and QE11 stating memories may differ. To me that casts doubt.

I feel their behaviour is poor and attention grabbing. I also do not care for lies. This is why I am not supportive of them.

I do wish them a happy life I just would prefer them to not air every little bit of it on tv/newspapers and never hold themselves to any accountability.

That does not mean I am incapable of seeing somethings were dealt with very poorly

This. ^ Well said. The pair are becoming more insufferable and loathsome every day now. I am gobsmacked that ANYbody still supports them. Confused What do they have to do for the scales to fall from their fawning-fangirls eyes?

Ohnonevermind · 07/01/2023 11:06

Harry has set himself up as a high profile PR target, due to stupidity and ego. This wasn’t a good idea, and anyone defending is an idiot.

we will have to wait and see if this is to force the U.K. home office to give him security, as he’s too cheap to pay for it himself. He has requested a review so we will have to wait and see if it’s included

Wibbly1008 · 07/01/2023 11:08

They are ridiculous. By all means leave the RF if you want, but then sod off and stop trying to make money from mud slinging.

maeveiscurious · 07/01/2023 11:08

I think they are falling flat in America, the press aren't that interested and SNL are not sympathetic

converseandjeans · 07/01/2023 11:10

@Spck

I support them. I think the Daily Mail and various high profile presenters have treated them appallingly.

I suppose you think what Jeremy Clarkson wrote was ok?

I don't understand why people are so involved though. I'm not actually that interested in the RF.

Yes, I've seen a few of those. Ignoring is probably best! 😄

Not according to any of my US colleagues or Tina Brown. The Wales' recent shindig to Boston OTOH went largely unnoticed by most of them.

converseandjeans · 07/01/2023 11:12

@Spck

I do think they are causing much wider damage than most people think and are creating a negative view of the U.K. abroad.

I doubt that is to do just with H&M. Brexit, Boris & Co haven't really helped have they?

Wibbly1008 · 07/01/2023 11:12

There is nothing in the book about racism. It’s a lot of self indulgent nonsense about Harry’s life - who cares?! People have bigger things to worry about that his virginity. He has lost the plot in his attention seeking game, Megan should run for the hills.

What about that great Oxbridge author💩?

I know a number of real ones. Would you like some tips to come across as more convincing because most people do not buy it?

You don’t think 9/11 might be relevant here?

Crabo · 07/01/2023 11:15

Harry and Meghan are two most uninteresting people whose only claim to fame is their connection with the British monarchy. They wanted to break free from their duty to the monarchy claiming they wanted privacy in America and we’re allowed to break free but they have done nothing else since but court publicity and the press with the sole aim of making money to fund a lavish lifestyle. Now that would not be in itself a bad thing if it were not done by constantly criticising and whingeing about the very thing which makes them of interest to people - the British monarchy itself. Do I support them in their self-indulgent and narcissistic whining? No I do not. In fact I just wish they would shut up and get on with the private life they say they want

Rhondaa · 07/01/2023 11:16

I wonder what the supporters think of the gross invasion of William's privacy by revealing he is circumcised. That ok because some trolls have been nasty to Harry online?!

Maybe we need the context of the circumcision so the blinkered die hards can announce yep it acceptable to invade William's privacy like this.

The desperation to defend even now is amusing and actually rather tragic.

DownNative · 07/01/2023 11:16

Any sympathy anyone had left for Harry should be near nonexistent at this point after his comments about the Taliban he claims he killed.

He talks about himself and his wife being dehumanised yet he's more than willing to dehumanise his family and the Taliban. Claims to be so concerned about his family's security that he's just painted a target on his back because he's now back in the Taliban's attentions which he hasn't been since his last tour of Afghanistan a decade ago.

I do not know a single British Army veteran who would do what Harry has done. My father and they don't talk about this aspect of the job, certainly wouldn't in the way Harry did. Says something when even a former Colonel is criticising Harry and pointing out the security risk.

He and Meghan should 100% stay away from the King's Coronation in the UK this year. And if he's said this about the Taliban to become a target in order force the UK Government to agree to pay for his security....well, that's manipulative and a dangerous game. The Government should 100% not pay a penny for any security for him after this stunt. Harry didn't need to say what he did.

Time now for him to go away, stop his book deals, Netflix deals, his constant "woe is me" and go through therapy PRIVATELY in order to sort himself out.

During a global cost of living crisis, Harry and Meghan look like out of touch, overprivileged people who don't seem to know how lucky they are......

TiddyTidTwo · 07/01/2023 11:17

When even the Taliban suggests Harry needs to see a doctor......

I really liked H&M but the scales definitely dropped from my eyes some time ago

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

Why shouldn't he make a living from what he is? Its what all the other royals have done. All the royals make their money by trading on their connections.
Nearly every thread on inheritance here ends up being "you must share equally between the DC even if some don't need it" but when it comes to the royals its just fine for one to be handed billion quid fortunes and estates whilst the other takes relative pennies.

The fortunes of the royals have been almost entirely built up since the time of the relatively impoverished Victoria. They were manufactured via a whole series of tax exemptions and law exemptions which still exist today. How else could William be handed a billion quid estate with no tax liabilities?
