The royal family

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

Andrew is of course 100% guilty of being friends with and accepting hospitality from a known multiple sex offender.

Well, actress (surely Meghan would be box office gold at the moment), running an acting school for kids, setting up a fancy schmancy Napa B&B, a goop style lifestyle blog - she has experience of similar).

Harry could work with veterans, teach polo playing, start an organic farm, learn to bake sourdough).

Lots of opportunities which don't include making money from criticism of your nearest and dearest.

Harry already works with veterans. Invictus

He plays polo matches to benefit Sentebale.

He has a role at Better-Up.

They both work for Archewell.

Meghan has filed a trademark for The Tig, I suspect that is her next big commercial project.

Looking forward to seeing you happy about all this!

Chocoverload · 02/01/2023 21:42

Most of my friends including myself are totally supportive of them. That’s probably because we don’t believe the crap published in the tabloids.

And probably because you're naive.

Roussette · 04/01/2023 19:27

ShutTheFrontDory · 04/01/2023 19:23

And probably because you're naive.

that's rude Hmm

I have friends and acquaintances who are supportive of them too. Sensible, clever, empathic people.

Coxspurplepippin · 04/01/2023 19:28

I was responding to a query about what jobs they could do - I thought you meant jobs like 99% of the rest of the planet, with a pay packet. By working with veterans I meant something like studying to become a physiotherapist or counsellor. Not playing charity polo matches but teaching people to ride and play polo.

His role as Chief Impact Officer at Betterup is described as 'co-founder of Archewell, he is focused on driving systemic change across all communities through non-profit work as well as creative activation'. Sounds........ interesting?

Not surprised about the Tig thing - doubtless bundles of cash to me made out of items 'endorsed by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex'.

Ohnonevermind · 04/01/2023 19:28

Meghan will probably have to restart the Tig, if she can scale it up to the Goop size (which is apparently worth 250m) she would end up with a nice chunk of change. Jessica Alba is worth 100m on her business valuation. There is money in this area. But she should ditch ‘the duchess/princess titles for it to avoid criticism

while I’m not a fan of some of Meghan’s tailored outfits, her casual wardrobe is lovely, and if Jessica Simpson can make lots of money from her very questionable taste, it should be easy for Meghan to make a fortune on a lifestyle channel.

if they can make money by not taking potshots at the royal family, I think everyone at this point would he happy to move on.

SwordToFlamethrower · 04/01/2023 19:30

I admire them.

blablablagobshite · 04/01/2023 19:31

I was previously a hater until the Netflix documentary and subsequent media blackout on their shocking treatment! I completely support them now.

MissMarpleRocks · 04/01/2023 19:36

MyOldCaravan · 04/01/2023 18:27

Exactly this.

The Venn diagram of Daily Fail readers, Brexit voters, M&H haters is actually just one circle 😂

Rubbish.

Dsis reads the mail. Voted remain & loves H&M (most of the time)

I dislike the Mail. Am
a remainer

MissMarpleRocks · 04/01/2023 19:37

Sorry pressed too soon

& not overly fond of them slagging off their family which also dsis doesn’t agree with.

I don’t think we can be the only 2 who think like this?

Rockybooboo · 04/01/2023 19:58

Blip · 04/01/2023 18:22

H&M very happy to make vague and unspecific claims about racism in the RF but too nervous to talk about sex trafficking?
Happy to launch broadsides into Charles William Kate and ER2 but too nervous to criticise Andrew? Why would that be?

It might be in the book

Blip · 04/01/2023 19:59

Some folk seem to have a very poor grasp of Venn diagrams

Rockybooboo · 04/01/2023 20:05

Memam · 04/01/2023 18:46

After the huge financial settlement contributed by The Queen last year, I believe neither side's been allowed to discuss the case publicly because of the inclusion of a gagging order. Interestingly, the gag order expires next month which means, despite the millions awarded to Virginia Guiffre, she can start voicing the horrible experience she endured at the hands of Epstein and Prince Andrew. So it's going to start being an utter nightmare for him again.

After watching the whole H&M documentary, it is quite apparent that they don't endlessly 'slag' off the RF. Rather, they focus on the relationship the media has with the RF. The documentary talks about their childhood before they met, how they met, Harry's life under the spotlight, how Meghan and both of them as a couple have been portrayed by the media. They even cover the subject of slavery and highlight how, shockingly, as Enslaved did with Samuel L Jackson that it was only in 2015 that British tax payers finished 'paying off' the debt which the British government incurred to compensate British slave owners as a result of the abolition of slavery in 1835. Not many people were taught that at school, so it's a positive that H&M used their platform (they knew so many would watch. You may argue this point, but it is/was Number 1 on Netflix) to inform others.

There seems to be a recurring argument by some that H&M want their privacy, but can't seem to keep out of the spotlight, forever wanting to promote their podcast, book, and documentary, etc. I feel as though people are cherry picking here, only wanting to accept black 'n' white scenarios and not accept that, like most things in life, situations can be grey. H&M want to make their mark in the world. They have a lot in common, enjoy their activism and charitable work. All of that requires them having to raise their profiles. Meghan pretty much did all of this with her lifestyle blog the Tig or something like that. While I did think it was very odd of her to document and take so many photos and videos of their trip to Africa and even when H proposed, looking at the bigger picture, that's what she's like: constantly wanting content to document (or she did for the Tig). Just because they wanted to leave the confines of TRF it doesn't mean they have to live in impoverished surroundings. They are still allowed to try and earn a living and to do what they love and trying to make a change.

Well said

Roussette · 04/01/2023 17:54

Given his two brothers and sister say bugger all about it, why should a nephew and his wife?

Because they just made a six hour documentary about inside the RF and the palace machinations. And Meghan in her Fab Four interview brought up the #metoo movement.
So, all in all, you'd think it'd come up.
Or maybe they don't believe VG.

Roussette · 04/01/2023 20:47

What has the 6 hour doc series got to do with them making a statement about Andrew? There was nothing relevant in it to do with Andrew.

We won't agree on this, so AFAIC there's no point in talking about it to be honest

It is the Palace's place to put out statements about Andrew which of course they won't. They didn't at the time and they won't do it now.

CathyorClaire · 04/01/2023 20:49

The facts are that he was good friends with a convicted sex offender.

Can we double up on that?

Worth noting though that Charles has managed a hat trick of dodgy mates and mentors and somehow escaped with a bound.

Livingtothefull · 04/01/2023 20:52

100% support Harry & Meghan. It is apparent that they have been treated just appallingly by the Royal Family, as well as the UK tabloid media who are upset that their cash cows have upped and left for the US and are taking their revenge. Even if you don't agree with every single thing M&H have said and done, why should they not tell their own story alongside all the vicious gossip against them?

I don't think Meghan ever had a chance, the hate against her started when she arrived in the UK and yes it was fuelled by racism as well as misogyny and snobbery. The Royal Family have failed to come out in support of Meghan at any stage (the recent Clarkson episode being the latest example). Yet when one of their members has a couple of sex traffickers as friends and the family has to pay £millions to avoid facing accusations from one victim, that's OK with them and not even an attempt at seeming sorry for her or any other victims.

BTW the behaviour of the Royal Family, aided and abetted by the tabloid press, reflects very poorly on us all. Are you aware of how this all looks on the international world stage, what this makes us look like as a country? Frankly, the RF are terrible ambassadors for 'Brand Britain'; they are embarrassing us all and it is very sad that so many people don't see it.

Perime · 04/01/2023 21:22

Frozzie1 · 04/01/2023 13:28

I do not support them. To slag off and humiliate your own family publicly to make money is disgraceful.

And the Royal family supplying sources to the tabloid press enables them to remain in luxury - so they do it for the money too

Indeed. your Royals look unkind, uncaring, antiquated and much more concerned with self preservation than with actual human feelings. The press from the outside looks UTTERLY deranged, especially Clarkson, Morgan, Levin, Tominey etc.

There is a riotous group of women I follow on Twitter, who are mainly pro-Meghan black and mixed race women from the US, Caribbean and Africa who have a funny nickname for the UK. They call it "Salty Island". Cracks me up every time I see it. Heh.

Perime · 04/01/2023 21:33

Also, they did go away and say nothing and the media just made up stuff and published it.

Aren’t they just the wittiest!

Serenster · 04/01/2023 21:41

That’s a well-known UK Royalty hate site’s nickname for the UK too. What an incredible coincidence!

Roussette · 04/01/2023 21:46

This a million times. Preservation of the monarchy at ALL COSTS.

And unfortunately married ins, and those that don't fit in ..they pay the price.
How can it carry on like this ...15 years time the media will be picking on George's girlfriend

Oh really? What is the well-known hate site called? Just seen Salty Island on Twitter.

Many of the black women I follow campaign against the utterly ludicrous notion of a white monarch chosen on the basis of birth order as head of state of predominantly black Caribbean nations while living far across the sea in a country to which they require visas to visit. They are also big on slavery and colonialism reparations.

Coxspurplepippin · 04/01/2023 22:01

'And much more concerned with self preservation than with actual human feelings'

Could be said about Harry and Meghan........

'Married ins' - Tim Lawrence, Mike Tindall, Kate Middleton, Sophie Rhys Jones all seem happy in their relationships, part of a close and loving family.

Sorry, I don't think the RF are embarrassing the country at all. Harry and Meghan are stirring the pot, much of what they're saying has been proven untrue as detailed time and again. If people choose to believe the guff they come out with, so be it. I'd still like to know what Harry and Meghan's end game is.

The tabloid press may be deranged but no more or less than the tabloids in any other country.
