Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

I’ve heard that the book has transcripts and details of conversations, and I hope so.

So far they’ve told nothing really, just vague insinuations. No different from the tabloids.

Im hoping there are some facts this time around.
Names, dates, details etc.

Frozzie1 · 04/01/2023 13:28

I do not support them. To slag off and humiliate your own family publicly to make money is disgraceful.

Goodness that’s a sweeping statement if ever I read one !
I think you mean that SOME people in America support them just as SOME people in the U.K. support them .

Have you not read the .title of the. Thread then🤔

BethJ62 · 04/01/2023 13:57

@x2boys and did you not read the post I was replying to ??

PreparationPreparationPrep · 04/01/2023 14:00

^*It’s a bit of a no win situation though isn’t it?

You read the book, it’s all ‘you’re obsessed with them’ ‘you don’t support them but are keeping them in the media’

You don’t read it and it’s ‘how can you take what they’re saying from the media, when you haven’t even read it yourself’

The same with NF, you watched it, it was your fault they’re in the media, you didn’t and it’s your fault for reading the media and not listening to them directly*^ 🤷‍♀️

Yes so my question is why continue to engage with them and threads in the first place when you are against everything they are as you are only adding to their bank balance which some on here equate with ill-gotten gains.

Abra1t · 04/01/2023 14:05

I'm generally not positive about them, as I think making programmes about family spats isn't a good way to reconcile and I'm not sure it's doing Harry much good. Their history of rebuffing invitations to Balmoral to see the Queen while she was in her last year or so suggests that they aren't serious about making up with the family.

I have no reason to think I'd personally dislike either of them if I knew them.

Serenster · 04/01/2023 14:07

How would have they transcripts of conversations though? Have they been secretly recording them?

Indeed. Transcripts by definition are recorded on a device or by a tasked third party surely? If not then it’s just, yet again, a one sided recollection…

Depends on family. Ive no reason to bitch about mine but I know some people have been treated awfully by their own flesh and blood

BlackFriday · 04/01/2023 14:28

I believe I have quite a varied social mix (age/profession/cultural heritage/so forth) and I've yet to hear anyone support them.

Wheresthebeach · 04/01/2023 15:15

They are a very divisive pair. I think by now...everyone is just getting tired of their complaining from such a position of privilege. If they'd buttoned it after Oprah then I think things would have been better for them.

From my perspective I can't stand the victimhood status from a very wealthy and privileged couple. They have more money, and opportunity than 99.9% of the world and they can't see how lucky they are. Are the press awful? Yes...but they've expanded their grievance to cover just about everything possible - their house wasn't big enough, they are better than W&K at the job, they need more cash from Charles, the family didn't do what we wanted, when we wanted it etc etc(Andrew avoids criticism which is just bizarre). They've been filming for years, who does that? Only someone planning this. Its just nasty, and such a bloody shame as most of us were either ambivalent towards them, or actively happy for them on their wedding day.

You may have heard this, but it is not true.

The security around Harry's book has been compared to that around the last Harry Potter book.

I was mocked endlessly for saying on a previous thread that this book is being released around a strategy plan and at at a level not often seen in publishing. I predicted this very strategy. Simultaneous publication in about 17 languages. Publication at the same time around the world. They have even taken the unusual step of no advance copies to ANYONE, no galley copies or advance proofs, nor freebies for reviewers. Everyone who will read it will buy it. They have even timed the simultaneous release of the ebooks in all the languages and the audio book read by Harry.

All books, in all formats and in all languages, will be published simultaneously.

So anyone who claims to know what is in the book is a fantasist engaged in speculation.

@Wheresthebeach

If they'd buttoned it after Oprah then I think things would have been better for them.

Why should they button it when everyone is writing about them. You can count the number of times they have actually spoken publicly.

Oprah Interview (H and M)
Me you can't see (Harry)
James Corden (Harry)
Ellen (Meghan)

The Cut (Meghan to promote Archetypes)
Variety (Meghan to promote Archetypes)

Harry and Meghan Docuseries

Anderson Cooper (Harry to promote memoir)
ITV (Harry to promote memoir)

They have also done Zooms, and given speeches to promote their work and various charities. They have been remarkably restrained considering the avalanche of speculative articles written about them on a daily basis, not to mention the endless books. Why should they button it about their own lives while others make money and profit off their names? Why do you want them censored while others speak about them?

As to the question raised by the OP, everyone in my circle supports them, as do I.

Can't remember who tagged me, but thank you and yes, on Tuesday, I will do a thread for those who are reading the book. Am really looking forward to reading it!

Oh yes please MrsMaxWinter

Ohnonevermind · 04/01/2023 17:30

It could also be a marketing strategy to say ‘the security is so tight, it’s not been so tight since Harry Potter’, to try to drum up interest. At least in Harry Potter the plot was a surprise, this is just a whingefest against his family (again)

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/01/2023 17:34

@Rockybooboo

Thanks so much, I will, and will start the thread as soon as I start reading. Happy new year!

Roussette · 04/01/2023 17:43

Yes, do start a thread. I'll be there! @MrsMaxDeWinter And here's just a few of the books profiting off of Harry with gossipy books.

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?
Blip · 04/01/2023 17:49

Strange that although H&M have attacked many members of the RF they very much avoid saying anything negative about Andrew.

Given Megan's public support of Me Too it's somewhat surprising.

Oh wow @Roussette, look at those covers. Happy new year!

It's ghastly the number of times the two are told to shut up, while people lap up and repeat as fact things that others write about them.

Did you see the Anderson Cooper clip where AC asked if Harry would ever consider returning to be a full time member of the RF.

"No", said Harry.

He's clearly been reading some of the wise women of Mumsnet who say that "No" is a complete sentence.
🤗

goldismything · 04/01/2023 17:53

It's a bit sad really as my mums/grand generation saw the royals as all about duty and service. Obviously that's a bit Downton abbey but trashing your family in public and money grabbing and clearly lying it's all Rooney v vardy to me.

I remember my sons then aged 8 and 6 came into our room saying that all the Saturday morning tv was cancelled as Diana had died! They got us out of bed and so very sad as her lads were just a bit older.

It's actually horrible really

Given his two brothers and sister say bugger all about it, why should a nephew and his wife?

Happy New Year to you too!

Yes, a lot of people are making a lot of money out of the two of them.

goldismything · 04/01/2023 18:02

Andrew is vile! I assumed on mumsnet that was a given to be honest

You could also say that it is strange that although Eugenie founded the Anti-Slavery Collective, which campaigns against human trafficking, including the sex trafficking of women and girls, she has not made a single comment about her father being accused of taking advantage of a trafficked young woman.

Perhaps Harry and Meghan are waiting to take their cue from Eugenie, his daughter? Or from the King, his brother? Or Anne his sister? Or Edward his brother? Or perhaps you are just keen to bash Meghan for any reason, even Andrew's misdeeds?

Blip · 04/01/2023 18:09

I don't think it's strange that Eugenie hasn't criticised her father in public, no.

Charles, Edward or Anne, his siblings? And working Royals?
