The royal family

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

So everywhere there seems to be complete negativity towards the Netflix documentary and the autobiography coming out. They seem to be universally slated as whingers.
so how much do you think this feeds back to them? It must be v easy to live in a bubble with close supporters telling them they are doing a grand job. But how much reality do you think gets through of how badly they are coming across,

@Spck Have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this thread. I don't agree with every single thing they do but there's a certain obsession from people who dislike them to make sure everyone else feels the same way. You can feel the disappointment when they fail to convert you.

H&M are not for everyone and that's ok. But you will have to live with the fact that they are supported too.

purpledalmation · 04/01/2023 11:15

@dundies Lied about their wedding 3 days before the real wedding.
Said Archie wasn't getting a title because of his colour.
MM said she was given no help with royal life despite receiving personal help and a 30 page dossier on protocol.
MM lied in court about collaborating with Scobie and his book.
Harry said his father cut off funding, yet Charles tax returns show he continued to pay after Harry left the UK.
MM said after megsit when they went to Canada they weren't given security. The Canadian police chief has made a statement that this wasn't true.

That's off the top off my head and easily provable. There are tons more.

Your turn ...

Spck · 04/01/2023 11:24

@purpledalmation exactly and the supporters here think we are the ones taken in 🙄

I support them. Everyone around me does too.

Pre-ordered his book already, I can't wait to see the MN threads moaning about it once it's out 😂

Me too! Haven't bought it yet but will catch up on it. Let's post about it if we're not drowned out with those blowing a fuse @tatalan

Disappointment? I wish it were just disappointment. Posters are attacked for not being on the side of labelling them the worst creatures ever. Sub human nearly.

Yes, they've made mistakes. So has every member of the RF in their time.

KillingLoneliness · 04/01/2023 12:13

I don’t support the royal family but I do support H&M. In my family it’s quite divided between those who dislike them and those who support them.

FramboiseRoyale · 04/01/2023 12:19

I think there is a lot of support for them in the US. Most of the negativity in the US seems to come from some in right wing media, which is not surprising really.

Novella4 · 04/01/2023 12:20

IHRTFT but I'm glad Harry is speaking out . Who is better placed to lift the lid on the cesspit of greed and petty jealousy that is the royal family?

Yet again royalists want it both ways - 'don't publicly criticise your family'
( feed stories to the mail secretly like William does , is that better?) But this is not just a toxic family - this is a toxic institution which stunts the development of UK society.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 04/01/2023 12:24

I've actually grown to like them and learnt more about them through the helpful posters on MN. But even before that I still didn't dislike them, Harry has grown in confidence with Meghan and his own family now

I try and skim the over reaching ones who are just purposefully unkind for the sake of it or style their posts as intellectual insight but underneath still just nasty.

The Atlantic, The Cut, Variety. These are all left leaning.

The Atlantic, The Cut, Variety. These are all left leaning.

The Washington Post, The New York Times, CBS - also progressive media who have scrutinised H&M words and behaviours over the last year.

I have preordered too!. Maybe @MrsMaxDeWinter will start a new thread part 2 ?

I am wondering how many of those who don't support them will still use their time / money to read / listen to the book.

Oher · 04/01/2023 12:38

Their target market is America, and America supports them. America is quite largue so I think they’ll do ok.

America absolutely loves their core message of “Europe is old-fashioned, snobby and nasty, America is warm and friendly.”

Why did you think they did the Netflix documentary? It isn’t aimed at Brits, it’s aimed at Americans.

Fieldfly · 04/01/2023 12:52

One thing that I really find odd is the claim that Archie isn’t a prince because of ‘his colour’, the photos show him to be very pale with auburn hair. Until they were engaged and she was described as the first person of colour to join the RG I personally had not realised that she was a person of colour, I don’t think many people did. She has pale skin snd straight hair. I think in the press the negative comments have been more to do with class, snobbery, anti-American, anti divorcee than race. Social media is where the vile racism has been rife, but that is not the same as the press. I don’t think that understand the difference between criticism of their behaviour, opinions (which in a free press can’t be controlled) and libel. The way that other members of the rf have turned negative press around has been by keeping quiet, working hard and showing themselves to be decent.

Goodness that’s a sweeping statement if ever I read one !
I think you mean that SOME people in America support them just as SOME people in the U.K. support them .

I agree 100% with this .

Porcinimushroom · 04/01/2023 13:00

In reality I think most people apart from some die hard fans either don’t support them or are indifferent, you are right, it’s mainly as people think it’s distasteful to wash your dirty linen in public like this, anyone capable of critical thinking can see the twisting of the truth to support their narrative and of course it’s the same shit rehashed for serious sums of money , they aren’t doing it for free. It’s literally millions and millions they are selling this for. And they are repeatedly selling the same story. It’s a cash cow.

but there will always be a small minority who support this sort of stuff. Even knowing it’s only being done for cold hard cash, they still support it.

It’s a bit of a no win situation though isn’t it?

You read the book, it’s all ‘you’re obsessed with them’ ‘you don’t support them but are keeping them in the media’

You don’t read it and it’s ‘how can you take what they’re saying from the media, when you haven’t even read it yourself’

The same with NF, you watched it, it was your fault they’re in the media, you didn’t and it’s your fault for reading the media and not listening to them directly 🤷‍♀️

Meghans father is white as is her grandfather, both her mother and grandmother are mixed race, which means Meghan is 7/8ths white and 1 /8th, [maximum} black, she herself is white skinned , she even fake tans, and her children are white skinned with red hair. Meghan was also raised predominantly by her father with no black culture and up until she started getting bad publicity she fully identified as Caucasian.

I work internationally in my job and while this might seem a minor spat they are painting the whole of the U.K. in a negative light. I do think they are causing much wider damage than most people think and are creating a negative view of the U.K. abroad.

The only person creating a negative view is you and you are failing miserably Charles !

Roussette · 04/01/2023 13:25

And very many people are making far more from clickbait articles. Look at this... just SOME of the books written about Harry. Good on him for writing one of his own.

The DFail for instance had 27 articles in one day on the couple.

The MSM fuelled dislike of this couple is a billion dollar industry and anyone who doesn't see that, just doesn't want to.

Do Harry and Meghan realise hardly anyone supports them?

I've got more of an issue with Prince Andrew but each to their own I guess... 🙄

This

Cue royalists :
'at least Andrew keeps his head down'
Sickening

Roussette · 04/01/2023 13:28

What in god's name does this mean? Do you know her since she was a baby? How do YOU know how she identified, what she was like at school, who she was friends with... are you saying she denied her mother's colour?
