I have finally watched all episodes. It was much better than I was expecting and bore no resemblance to what was talked about for hours and hours by some posters on here.
I am interested in discussing the programme with people who have watched it all. What struck me was:

  1. Harry clearly says Charles leaked the content of Harrys private letter to Charles, to the press.
  2. William when younger had agreed with Harry that neither of them would behave as Charles had with his press office. But William went back on that and behaved the same way.
  3. The Palace leaked the location of where Harry and Meghan were staying in Canada.
  4. The small number of social media accounts run by mainly white middle-aged women who push hate for both of them but especially Meghan.
  5. The myth that Meghan is controlling Harry is recognised by him as misogyny.

I think they were clearly right to leave.

How do you know - did she tell you?
Until, say, a few weeks ago, nobody had heard about Ashley and the supporters were forcefully claiming that ALL of the Markles were strangers to Meghan.
Most mysteriously, why was Ashley not mentioned before or not mentioned in the Oprah interview?

How the palace did not want her to attend the wedding and how MM fretted about her being exposed to trolls and harassed by media etc.

That has been completely denied . For whatever reason MM only wanted her mother there.

Did Ashley attend the baby shower ? That was a private event .

meinteresamucho · 01/01/2023 17:40

Surely as an adult, Ashely could have made that decision herself. Whether it was worth going to the wedding or not. I didn't find the explanation they gave believable.

Coronateachingagain · 01/01/2023 17:58

Ashley didn't attend the baby shower as they were not in touch then. They are putting a nice spin to it now about the wedding invite etc.

However Oprah deserved the choir seat better than any other family member.

As for the British media, they are tough and difficult and have crossed the line many times but they will find you if you misrepresent or lie and they certainly did with this pair. Many times.

("Waits for the HM brigade to demand proof of this" - they may start reading about the misrepresentations in court 😅)

bakalava · 01/01/2023 18:00

The Palace said that they never advised against Ashley attending. Ashley was counting on an invitation and was upset when Meghan withdrew it. Ashley was never referred to by Meghan as an exception when discussing her non-relationship with the Markles.

What a list ! 😂😂

I'd recommend expanding your list.

You mean she must rock up to a wedding that she is told she cannot go to and get turned away at the gate ?

Also, Doria, who is super close to MM was not there. All I saw were a dozen or so people who seem to know each other. Actually, even a lot of the people who get along with MM and have defended her from her Suits days are not there.

notanotheroneagain · 01/01/2023 18:49

*the Doria point was about the baby shower.

*Ashley point was about the wedding.

StormzyinaTCup · 01/01/2023 19:08

If you did watch the series, you would know this was explained.

How the palace did not want her to attend the wedding and how MM fretted about her being exposed to trolls and harassed by media etc.

Jeez, do you seriously buy into that?

MM given zero f*s about anyone else bar herself and her end goal. It's highly unlikely the Palace told her who in her family she could/could not invite. I know what I'm going to say next is likely to be very hard for you to even to consider for a nano second @notanotheroneagain but I'm going for it anyway; MM likely didn't invite Ashleigh, she used her plain and simple to get at her mother, Samantha. Ashleigh has served her purpose and has now been permanently discarded and all contact has been broken (sound familiar?) and then true to form MM lays the blame for the breakdown of that relationship at somebody else's door because it's always someone else's fault. That's just how some people operate but it's shitty if you happen to be the other person so I can completely understand why Ashleigh is hurt but the RF is not the reason they are the excuse.

Do with the above what you will.

notanotheroneagain · 01/01/2023 19:12

Also , another note for those who actually watched. I note that Tyler says what a classy lady MM is, that she could have said more. I agree.

-I noticed that they only mentioned the positive comments on her confession of mh in South Africa (end of ep4)
-In general, they are rightfully blaming the media with the letter etc. Not much fire on Jason Knauf. By this, I mean that if you just watch the without knowing the backstory, you would not know how involved JK is in all this.

I also notice that the media is quickly glazing over the fact that the rf recommended that she writes that letter to TM in the first place.

notanotheroneagain · 01/01/2023 19:19

@StormzyinaTCup
Your argument makes zero sense.

It would be in MM's advantage to have Ashley to the wedding and say ' oh look, I am in touch with Markle family, here they are, so there is no abandonment'.

There is definite proof that she was travelling with Ashley and in touch with her.

Xenia · 01/01/2023 19:29

I still don't understand why those people who liked the documentary think it is okay that MM's first marriage was not mentioned at all in a story covering her children, her love story - surely the fact she had a husband whom presumably she loved and then they divorced is a massive part of her story, the truth as it were.

(Yes and the bodylanguageguy on youtube is indeed very good)

notanotheroneagain · 01/01/2023 19:42

Also another thing the British media keeps quiet about,

-H&M DID offer to give up their titles. Something they(the media) keep beating them on.

-that Harry already told the queen and Charles about exiting. And what kind of advice HMQE would have got about this.

-There was no joint statement about W bullying H. I never believed this as soon as I heard it. At best, I just thought H just shrugged, signed whatever to get this over and done with and leave.

-'lack of journalism' is apt a description of the British media regarding 'megxit".

Glindara · 01/01/2023 20:07

Poor Ashley - stitched up and turned over many times by MM.

Excluded from the wedding - then zero contact for years until making this doc where she is wheeled in only to slam Sam Markle.

So they say ……..

Edinburghmusing · 01/01/2023 20:13

Well they can stop using their titles can’t they?? There was no requirement that I’m aware if that t a Rory so title needed to be included on the cover of Meghan markels childrens book

Nothing stopping them from choosing not to proactively brand themselves with titles from the dysfunctional, toxic, racist, parasitical institution they despise.

I think my take is way more plausible than believing that the 'family that I never had' and a father in law I described as 'charming' who would step in and walk me down the aisle would be the same family that would deny a wedding invitation to a cousin who I had a 'very close relationship' with. Make that make sense to me please? Otherwise I'm very much staying with my version of what likely went down.

Also, your subsequent post @19.42 - do you question anything they say, at all, ever? It's not healthy because no one is 100% honest 100% of the time and with this couple it has been proven to be the case more than once.

That is directly regurgitating their allegations and adding a layer of confirmation bias on top.

And you damn well know this was a script. As explained in the series.

MarshaMelrose · 01/01/2023 20:47

I wonder why she invited Gayle King who she hardly knew to her baby shower but nit her much loved niece. I wonder what King could offer that her niece couldn't. If the palace did actually say Meghan wasn't allowed to invite her niece, you'd think she'd make extra effort to stay in touch with this woman she knows she's really upset.

StormzyinaTCup · 01/01/2023 20:54

How do I damn well know?
The words came direct from the couples own mouths, how do I differentiate between what's a 'script' and what's not a script?

Coxspurplepippin · 01/01/2023 20:55

Why would the palace say she couldn't invite her niece? I thought she'd been encouraged to invite family members. The claim makes zero sense.

Gayle was not an invitee, she came as a reporter. Did not attend the wedding, but was reporting on it.

The rest of the celebrities were approved by the palace, not Ashley.

She just whistled her back when she needed her for the doc.
