Daily Mail thinks it has evidence. Let's discuss.

Was the great royal burgundy parade a cheeky swipe at Meghan?

I believe it was a swipe at Meghan.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/12/2022 21:11

How can Kate doing something she does most of the time (wearing colours) be a swipe at Megan??

antelopevalley · 21/12/2022 21:15

She uses clothes to send a message. 99% of the time that message is support, but this is no coincidence.

Meghan had said that there were unwritten rules re colours that could be worn and you couldn't wear the same colour as a more senior royal if you were attending the same event ( makes sense really )
Kate, Charlotte, Pippa and Zara all wore a similar burgundy shade.
Camilla and Sophie both wore white.
I've never seen this before in all my years of royal watching.
I believe it was a concerted effort......

MistletoeandBaileys · 21/12/2022 20:31

I liked Kates coat 😜

I also thought Zara looked beautiful too.
Kate and Charlotte usually have coordinated outfits at events so that’s not a big deal.

I would have thought their outfits are planned weeks in advance and maybe Camilla/Kate don’t care about the old protocol of no matching colours with senior royals.

And the fact that it was a Carol service dedicated to the Queen probably meant they wanted to be festive but not overly in your face festive.

That’s what I think.

Roussette · 21/12/2022 21:54

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 21/12/2022 20:14

There is only two,options here.

1 this was not coordinated and was a total coincidence they all fronted up in the same uniform, you can wear whatever you wish, there have been many instances of the royals turning up in the same colours, as witnessed by previous posters.

Meghan was thus talking made up shite

2 this was coordinated to disprove meghans words. As they all wore the same colour as has occurred before.

Meghan was thus talking made up Shite

either way it’s just been proven Meghan was talking made up shite. No way round it, again,

Actually not. She did wear a lot of neutral colours before they decided to leave. There's loads of pics of her showing this.
(cue you going off to google the odd one or two pics of her in a colour)

Coxspurplepippin · 21/12/2022 21:59

There are loads of photos of royal ladies wearing the same colours - Ascot 2019, the Queen and Kate wore pretty much identical shades of blue. 2013 the Queen and Camilla in green. 2018, Meghan, Camilla, Eugenie, Anne in white/off white.

Platinum jubilee balcony - the Queen, Camilla, Charlotte all in blue. Trooping the colour 2016, Kate and Camilla both in cream, 2018 both in pale blue etc etc etc.

Coronateachingagain · 21/12/2022 22:01

Meghan never understood that the monarchy is not a meritocracy. The Queen got to wear the brightest colours and then we went from there.

In any case even if she was right, there are better ways to instigate change.

That green dress was not her best number though - a tad small too - but clearly the priority was to go against the grain as much as she could in her last appearance.

DonnaDonna0 · 21/12/2022 22:02

@Roussette tbf there’s lots of pics showing bright colours too. I’m just not sure why she would say that, it doesn’t hold up.

Coxspurplepippin · 21/12/2022 22:03

LadyEloise1 really, you can't be so much of an ardent royal watcher to not have seen the royal women in the same colour - it took 2 or 3 minutes to find loads of examples. (Can't believe I even did that!)

Maybe you could do a comparison Grin

She wore a smart green outfit with matching hat... and that is 'going against the grain'.

Good god, what can this woman ever ever do right?

The criticism of her is off the scale.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 21/12/2022 13:36

It seems intentional.

Meghan is a liar as she did wear colours before Meghsit (whatever the term was!) - a green dress off the top of my head. It’s like she thinks people are stupid and don’t notice what she wore (it was on most newspapers daily too).

If I'm not mistaken, that was at the Commonwealth service, which was their last official engagement. In my opinion, she looked fabulous. In the documentary, she says she allowed herself colour on this occasion as she was leaving. But then haters are always gonna hate and somehow twist each word Meghan says. Very tiring.

DonnaDonna0 · 21/12/2022 22:08

@Roussette 😂 not that bothered to be honest just saying what I’ve seen over the last few years. Maybe you could if your that invested.

Can't be arsed lol

SenecaFallsRedux · 21/12/2022 22:21

Meghan did usually wear muted or neutral colors when with other members of the RF. If doing an engagement alone, she was more likely to wear colors. After their exit as working royals was announced, she wore more colorful clothes most of the time.

I certainly hope the mass of burgundy wasn't an intentional statement against Meghan on Kate's part because that would be a very petty thing to do, and from what I can see from the outside, I don't think Kate is a petty person. And what would be the point? It's such a trivial issue.

antelopevalley · 21/12/2022 22:24

I think it was deliberate, and petty as hell.

meinteresamucho · 21/12/2022 22:26

tatalan · 21/12/2022 19:18

Sick but lucrative. I say this with all due respect, the type of people gullible enough to buy into YouTube pseudo science are the type that consume tabloids like sheep.

It's valid commentary. I realise you don't like it but to describe people as "buying into" it is over-simplistic. Many people on forums like this one have formed their opinions from a wide range of sources including the many dozens of hours H&M themselves have released as well as the reports of bullying from a leading broadsheet newspaper and the evidence of lying in court cases. There's more than enough to justify analysis on the grounds described by these channels and people can take it as they find it. I think we need to talk about abuse and bullying when we it looks to be happening so people understand what it is and how they can avoid it. People who have experienced such abuse (or who may well have been guilty of it themselves) have a valid contribution to make to this discussion and in my opinion should be heard so long as people are able to apply critical thinking to what they're listening to. For those that can't, though, I do understand that it's probably not ideal learning material.

Back to the burgundy coats! I think it was a bit ridiculous to be honest and they'd have been better off just ignoring the bilge completely!

pelargoniums · 21/12/2022 22:31

Boredom, drama, entertainment, lols. All the stuff the proles get from frothing in AIBU but Kate couldn’t risk a secret Mumsnet profile, and royal life looks dull as hell – I suspect they’re all petty bitches who live for drama because they’ve got nothing else to do.

MarshaMelrose · 21/12/2022 22:36

I'm all for the Queen wearing a different colour to the rest. She was tiny so wore bright colours so she stood out and people could feel they'd seen her. If someone else wore the same colour, the public wouldn't know, from a distance, which one they should be watching.
The rest of the royal women are just also rans so I don't think it matters what colour they wear.

Yes, we have to look into bullying of Meghan by the press. And by the likes of Clarkson.

DappledThings · 21/12/2022 22:43

Was the great royal burgundy parade a cheeky swipe at Meghan?
No. And anyone who thinks it was needs their head examined.

meinteresamucho · 21/12/2022 23:40

What can we do about it though Rousette? The press can be vile, JC is a case in point. The police have said JC's article wasn't a hate crime (or they don't think it was) though so realistically is there anything else that can be done? Thankfully there have been some changes for the better in that phone hacking is hopefully a thing of the past and photographers can't swarm people the way they used to. But when it goes too far against someone what action can be taken and how do we decide it's gone too far?

ZingCarryOn · 21/12/2022 23:46

"There was no version of me joining this family and me not doing everything I could to fit in. I don’t want to embarrass the family.”

Well, there's a lie. She's actively embarrassing the family Xmas Hmm
