Monarch expected to foot £3m bill for guards.

Fascinating. What do we think?

Only just heard.

I'm appalled. That waste of space should be booted out of his free accommodation along with his parasitic ex wife ( who has also sponged millions off the RF , ie , us.)

I don’t know whether we are allowed to call Andrew a nonce but he should pay for his own security. The creep.

I think it’s fair comment to say he’s a nonce befriender.

Up to MNHQ though.

@BadgerB I didn’t say Andrew was a convicted sex offender. I said he prioritised a convicted sex offender over his public duty.
that appears not to be a concern for you.

Sorry - I misread your post. I should be more careful.

But I still maintain that if Charles thinks his unpleasant brother is in danger and wishes to pay for his protection, with his own money, he is entitled to do so.

As for H&M and family - why would they tolerate interference from the evil racist family. Ah! but taking money from them would be different...

vera99 · 23/12/2022 07:44

Andrew ain't going to be taking anyone to court for libel of that we can be certain the non sweaty nonce. He was loathed at British embassies around the world when they needed to make arrangements for him when he was trade ambassador for UKTI. I have friends in the Foreign Office who said he creeped on any attractive young female staff. Thailand was his favourite gig,go figure.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_golf_clubs_granted_Royal_status
Golf clubs are given Royal status by the monarch of that country not by Prince Andrew's patronage. It's a bit of a slur on some of our most prestigious courses especially here in Scotland. St Andrews was quite quick to kick him out.

PoseyFlump · 23/12/2022 08:18

There are many comments on here suggesting PA is some innocent bumbling idiot. He's got you all hoodwinked. Money is the motivation. It's far more likely Epstein and Maxwell were paying him to be bait for bigger fish while he was also sampling the goods. Fergie wanted money for an audience with PA. Was he innocent there too, with no knowledge? Come on. When people show you who they are, believe them!

I agree that money was the motivation.

Well they are pretty racist aren’t they.
and have a long history of befriending and associating with paedophiles.

if you were Meghan would you want to raise your child in a racist family where child sex offenders are welcomed with open arms?

and yet you still sneer at her and Harry for choosing to distance themselves

interesting stance.

FurAndFeathers · 23/12/2022 09:36

And yes Charles the paedophile befriender is welcome to pay for protection fir Andrew the paedophile befriender.

And we’re allowed to draw inferences as to his priorities.

No, I don't think "they are pretty racist". Well, possibly Harry with his "Paki" slur.
Yes there have been paedophiles in royal circles, not convinced about the "open arms". Everybody was fooled Saville - until he died and his victims could speak.

"child sex offenders are welcomed with open arms?"

Ridiculous exaggeration!

And yes, I sneer for a number of reasons.

Do you honestly think the Wales children are in danger in the family?

The Royal family have befriended and supported Jimmy Saville, Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Peter Ball. All notorious child sex offenders, one of whom was convicted and still invited to Royal events and homes, and the others were hiding in plain sight. If you think there were no suspicions or reports about Saville until after his death, you should probably educate yourself before commenting. They do seem to have erm.. poor judgement around child safeguarding at least.

Out of interest how many convicted child sex offenders would you consider it appropriate for your in-laws to invite round before you prioritised your child’s well-being? Is there a threshold number of child sex criminals you think is tolerable for your in-laws to support?

and if you don’t think there’s institutional racism in the Royal household you must be living under a rock. It’s been in the news as recently as last week and there are multiple examples to draw from.

but I guess if you choose to ignore inconvenient truths you can believe what ever narrative you like can’t you 🤷‍♀️

I suspect for many people the cognitive dissonance of believing in a noble and dutiful royal household has driven much of the public vitriol to Harry and Meghan and the shielding of Andrew and Charles

FurAndFeathers · 23/12/2022 11:41

Just a reminder that Harry and Meghan didn’t want to distance themselves. Had they been allowed their half in/ half out request, they would have still been mingling with the whole family .
Harry and Meghan have criticised various members of the Royal Family but not Andrew . Very telling.

Even if they're not 'in dangerous being sexually abused, I wouldn't want to expose children to that kind of person. I wouldn't want them growing up thinking that the behaviour and attitudes of those sort of men are OK. If any of the children do experience sexual abuse, how comfortable will they feel about speaking up in a family where they see Uncle Andy being accepted and protected? It's the principle more than anything.

AreOttersJustWetCats · 23/12/2022 12:00

^ that should say: 'in danger' of being sexually abused

Yes I expect they’re steering well clear of saying anything that might open that particular can of worms!

whether you think they wanted to distance themselves or not, they certainly made an active choice moving overseas and stepping down from royal duties. They weren’t exiled!

@Coucous How do you know this?

CathyorClaire · 23/12/2022 14:13

I'm not buying the quiet life business. He will be joining the family at their pre-christmas meal, only a matter of time before he's back in some unofficial capacity.

Entirely agree.

Edward and Anne have already been seen keeping him company on a shooting jolly.

Andrew has never been convicted of anything. Everyone assumes he's guilty

Well he was never going to see the inside of a courtroom but let's not forget his public promise to do all in his power to aid the authorities in relation to the JE case and the ensuing ducking and diving to do anything but and let's not forget the settlement he's paid to a woman he's never met for something he didn't do knowing the public would draw their own conclusions.

That waste of space should be booted out of his free accommodation

It's likely to be more complicated than that given he holds a 75 year lease to Royal Lodge albeit one granted (like the one on Bagshot Park) on disgracefully advantageous terms.

Roussette · 23/12/2022 14:43

It's £250 a week I'll have you know! For 30 rooms and 98 acres.... much the same price as a bedsit in Windsor Shock

Yep. And Eddie gets 120 rooms for about £450 a week more and gets to rattle round in them for 150 years.

It's a Royal Knockout indeed.

antelopevalley · 23/12/2022 20:48

@derxa I think the point is that nearly all of Andrew's "work" was jollies. Lots of rounds of golf and dinners at golf clubs. No wonder he misses it.

FrippEnos · 24/12/2022 18:52

FurAndFeathers

And yet H&M haven't aid anything about Andrew. They are protecting him as well.
