Sussexes invited to Coronation and to keep titles

I think this was the right call. Not to invite them to the Coronation just look petty. And he can't remove the Sussexes titles without removing Andrew's.

Wise move. H&M should refuse to come on principle (coming to your grandmother’s funeral is one thing, but it’s pretty hypocritical to make a packet criticizing the royal family while continuing to show up for its big events). They probably won’

Oh come on, this is the moment his father (who he obviously still loves), his only parent, has been waiting for for seven decades. Of course Harry will want to celebrate that!

You're terribly invested in the Royal Family aren't you?

Well this is the RF topic 🤣🤣🤣

Im gonna nip into the gardening forum and accuse them all of being invested in gardening

Before, the book, we have Live To Lead on NF on 31 December. So many gifts from the true philanthropists. I cannot thanks them enough!

TBF that isn’t about them, they’re just the hosts.

Honestly, the pair have to make money somehow.

Do they use their titles?

Yes. All the time.

VioletLemon · 19/12/2022 23:41

I don't understand why Andrew should have been made to testify in the States. It was a disgrace he used 12M to pay off the woman accusing him of colluding in underage sex and trafficking children to have sex with. I could be wrong but I find it disgusting that 12M was given. They made it sound at the time he had sold some private property but since he's a useless fecker he didn't earn that money. Somewhere down the line it came from us and that's wrong. The whole RF is wrong. Stolen treasures, land and position. Time they went.

VioletLemon · 19/12/2022 23:42

If this were a private event like a birthday or his father’s wedding (which was not a public affair), sure. But this is a public ceremonial occasion and it’s pretty much the heart ofthe monarchy as an institution.

Which is why it’s absolutely appropriate they show their support.

The Jubilee was a ‘lesser’ event and they turned up to that so I fully expect them to attend the coronation

The issue here is Andrew has never admitted or been proven guilty of anything. It doesn’t matter we all believe he is , he is innocent until proven guilty , you can’t remove his titles for an accusation.

meghan and harry though are proven guilty of attacking the monarchy repeatedly, so that alone should have them lose their titles. But for me, to save Charles more heartache they should do it themselves. Or stop using them.

Ah yes because we are all swanning around paying 12M to anyone who accuses us of anything...

International law is why he didn't have to travel to testify. Same as you wouldn't under similar circumstances.
It was closer to £3m than 12 according to his lawyers. She didn't have to settle, she could have insisted on a publicly held court case. She decided not to and there are a variety of reasons why she might have done that.
She's just dropped another case against Alan Dershowitz who she was adamant had abused her but she's now retracted that.
The money might have come from his inheritances, it might have come from his mothers private estate. It didn't come from public money.

Where did you officially hear that he paid £12m?

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 20/12/2022 07:37

It's the right call
Charles has enormous ground to make up with Harry and the pretty disasterous childhood he gave him
A lot of it Charles fault and some of course out of his hands.

He , as king should be straining every sinew to make it up with Harry and to meet his grandchildren.
After all imagine if they had fallen out with Diana at his side. Diana would be arguing constantly for Charles to make it up and probably being diplomatic with Harry to also come to the table.
However unfortunately step mum's often don't have that same motivation the child mother would.

Because they allegedly hate everything associated with the Royal Family so why would they want to be associated with people who caused them so much pain ?

It’s never been confirmed how much was paid .

That’s not fair. Camilla has her own children she realises the importance of those relationships. I imagine Charles wants nothing more than a good relationship with his son but in fairness Harry was the one who decided to live away and slag his dad off to millions. I don’t necessarily think KC is in the wrong here or the one who needs to grovel

bakalava · 20/12/2022 10:27

It is clear that they are only using (over-using?) their titles as a big FU to the Royal Family to show them that the titles are still theirs to use. I don't think that Meghan gives a fig about the emotive value of the titles or even believes the children will value them in the future. It is an activist act which probably generates a few chuckles among mates every time she has it printed.

You gave us titles, now we use titles.

Really? She rang a few American politicians and introduced herself as Duchess of Sussex. If she didn't care about using it why use it with Americans who don't care about that type of thing? She got pretty much ridiculed for it so people were laughing at her rather than with her.

You've got to know your audience.

I absolutely agree with this. She grew up in Hollywood in a cut throat industry whereby you laud ANY USP you possibly can get your hands on. Royal titles are their USP. However - I still think it would be counter productive to strip them of the titles and they could still use them in the US as a pseudo-title where people likely wouldn’t give a crap of the titles weren’t ‘blessed’ by the RF.

BadgerB · 21/12/2022 16:45

At least if they do attend it will give them material for several more "documentaries" laying out how badly they were treated...

bakalava · 21/12/2022 17:27

Have they kissed and made up with the LA agency Coleman-Rayner who suited and booted Thomas Markle pre-wedding? I saw their name in the credits for their earlier show.

BadgerB · 22/12/2022 05:55

If Harry is at the Coronation will he not have to kneel to the King and swear to be his "liege man in life and limb and earthly worship"?

They had to credit them because they'd used their images depicting Thomas' betrayal. That's typically how these things go.

I really don't understand how Harry will square it. Particularly after the Royal family's silence re Clarkson.

Celebrate a Father who yanked his security but is now happy to pay for his brother? The Jubilee was about celebrating the Queen, that I understood but if they attend the coronation...yikes.
