Of course not. The fact that it is a reference to a scene in the show is not a mitigating factor.

And who said that behaviour was ok? Not me. It would be good if that was addressed publicly by Harry.

From the way Harry is behaving now and the things he’s saying about racism, he appears to have listened and learned. When you’re exposed to racism in your family, his grandfather for example, it can take time to unlearn that mindset.

Clarkson has made other racist comments over the years, he’s 60/70 years old, apparently in all that time, he’s still not managed to listen and learn. Multiple racist comments in recent years and now misogynistic comments regarding a mixed race woman.

I think that's a very fair question.

I'm not seeking to mitigate JC's comments (the article was vile and for someone who feels the way he does about M it's a spectacular own goal in adding credibility to her assertions), but I can't fathom how this got through editors.

I've been critical of H&M's behaviour, but there's absolutely no defending JC here.

The article was dripping with misogyny and imho covert racism in so far I can't imagine him writing in this way about anyone else.

Clarkson has made a number of racism, homophobic, sexist, ableist comments in the past and doesn’t speak out about these things being wrong now. Now his latest comments. He hasn’t changed. There’s nothing to show he’s changed. I doubt he ever will. He seems to enjoy being offensive.

Agree. Racists can change, of course they can. Look at Matthew Collins. But Clarkson has never given any indication that he has.

There are plenty of women who are fine with sexually abusive hate speech and even threats of violence - as long as it's not directed to a woman who looks like them and/or a woman they dislike, envy etc. This thread alone is a clear example of it.

A glance at Twitter for example will show you that by far, women are the ones mostly justifying and excusing what he said about MM.

The 'GoT' supposed satire is repeatedly brought up as if that even makes what he said ok. Bottom line is older White man with money = admired, reverered, and secure in his White privilege. I wouldnt expect to see some sort of female solidarity in this respect
