Is a piece of shit. I refuse to link to his article in which he explicitly says he hates her and can't wait for the day he can physically assault her.

Can the Kate sycophants tell me again how this all happened to her and is totally normal and acceptable?

I’ve never liked much of what Jeremy Clarkson has to say, he’s an attention seeking, offensive prick about most things, but this is horrendous. How can he think this is in any way acceptable? He has daughters. Although I’ve seen an article saying one of his daughters has spoken out against him but I didn’t bother to read it all. It’s really, really dreadful and just makes me have more sympathy for Meghan.

Regardless of your thoughts on Meghan, there’s no place for this sort of thing.

Anklespraying · 18/12/2022 13:54

I just can’t really understand being bothered to defend him. Of course when you walk around being purposely offensive some people are going to take issue sometimes.

I'm not defending him, I have read his stuff and know what his thing is. I'm just trying to explain as he's used a well known swords and tits show as a cultural reference, it's low brow but hugely successful.

I've got boys who were teenagers at the time GoT was released and they loved it. It is non stop swords and sex, their favourite things. I was actually given the DVD by a female employment lawyer friend, she loved it! It got too ridiculous and OTT for me

He's playing you all, this scene is now a part of the culture. He wants people to fall in the trap he's set of taking it literally and many are.

Why give him so much power?

The fact that the scene is so well loved is perhaps an indicator of how non threatening it actually is?

TallGrassInTheSun · 18/12/2022 13:59

Also it’s no surprise he’d hate Meghan, remember when he was filmed saying the
n word. Racist cunt.

DuchessOfPort · 18/12/2022 14:00

I am mildly amused by the fact I’ve seen no comments saying it’s a bit harsh Nicola Sturgeon was put in the same hate category as Rose West.

LosingTheWill2022 · 18/12/2022 14:08

The fact that the scene is so well loved is perhaps an indicator of how non threatening it actually is?

Being a "well loved scene" in the context of a TV programme does not diminish the threat when the scenario is directed at an individual who he declares he hates.

I can't believe you think familiarity mitigates the threat.

Does it matter whether the victim of the threat is familiar with the programme? Or is the GOT fan base the only barometer that matters @Anklespraying ?

AliceOlive · 18/12/2022 14:09

I watched GoT, too. Whatever. I wouldn’t conflate the masses enjoyment of anything with morality, ethics, good taste. People quite literally stand and watch people being tortured even today in some parts of the world.

I don't think you or I are giving anyone any power by registering a personal opinion here. I don’t even know who the guy is, and doubt I’ll ever read anything he wrote again. If the trap is meant to gain him some attention, then he has more in common with his subject than he may care to admit.

tatalan · 18/12/2022 14:11

His daughter has spoken out against this. I wonder if Queen Camilla will too.

AliceOlive · 18/12/2022 14:14

Good for his daughter.

If I were Camilla I would continue not to say a word. There is nothing to gain, it won’t help H&M and they will just use it to further criticize her.

LimeCheesecake · 18/12/2022 14:14

@SallyLockheart - it doesn’t matter that Camila wasn’t the host - she will have been given a guest list. It wasn’t a state event, so it was entirely optional if she chose to attend.

yet she did. which says a lot about her.

Camilla knows Megan a lot better than we do, so maybe her attitude towards JC explains a lot about megan?

If Camilla thinks Clarksons comments are ok, then she’s disgusting. I would like to think she doesn’t agree with him and is disgusted at them. He is a racist that uses the n word.

BlackFriday · 18/12/2022 14:23

I have little time for Harry & Meghan.
What Jeremy Clarkson wrote was appalling and he should be cancelled
Immediately.

Vivid bedroom promises huh 😐

Hmmm, that's a good point. Here's another one: Harry and Meghan - particularly Harry - know the members of the RF a lot better than we do, so maybe their/his attitude towards the RF explains a lot about the RF?

pelargoniums · 18/12/2022 12:50

Are you genuinely unable to tell the difference between fictional television programme and book series Game of Thrones, its fans enjoying consensual tourist re-enactments of a famous scene, and a man using his media platform to suggest he wants to recreate that scene as a non-consensual attack on someone he hates “more than Rose West”?

GoT is full of rape and torture and violence, shall we comedically suggest we’d love to see specific scenes enacted on people against their will, or only for Meghan Markle? Who’s fair game here? Can I viscerally describe fantasy attacks on you, with the “but a TV programme exists!” defence?

GOT is absolutely disgusting television let's get it right. There's no good people attacking Clarkson but defending that debased filth.

Are people still talking about the lunch. That was on Wednesday. 2 days before the column was published. That event?

Anonymouseposter · 18/12/2022 14:29

I have complained to IPSO-although it wasn't very easy, their complaints form wouldn't submit.
I have not been impressed by some of Harry and Meghan's actions but Jeremy Clarkson's comments are completely unacceptable.
I think it's a red herring to bring Camilla or Kate into it too.
It's nothing to do with Kate and this hadn't been written when Camilla attended the event, she's not likely to personally go through a guest list with a fine tooth comb unless something like the recent article has come to attention.
This isn't about siding with individuals in the Royal family. It's about complaining about misogyny and hate speech.
I disliked Jeremy Clarkson already, but that's beside the point.
I would encourage anyone how agrees that this is unacceptable to submit a complaint.

Ricco12 · 18/12/2022 14:31

I wonder the same you would think they are criminals, by all the hatred on the internet.

Quite frankly I think it's disgusting to say awful things about a lady you have never met. Anyone writing or calling this women names should be ashamed of themselves.

What happened to the Be Kind movement after Caroline flack took her own life because horrid internet trolls.

Reading people on here writing things like she is Toxic I find absolutely shocking and can only imagine what they are like in real life. Probably not the type of person to have many friends that's for sure.

All these stupid questions make no difference. He's played you. It's too easy.

Lampzade · 18/12/2022 14:35

The irony is that he has proved that what Harry and Megan were saying is the truth.
That article is indefensible

Was this the event Piers was also at? Choosing to attend an event with Piers wasn’t a great choice. Presumably if she doesn’t object to attending events with Piers AFTER what he has written and said about Harry and Meghan, she may also be fine with attending future events with Clarkson.

I haven’t watched it but I think most people realise the difference between a TV show and reality. Clarkson was totally out of line here but it doesn’t surprise me of him.

Ricco12 · 18/12/2022 14:44

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 13:21

And meanwhile the paedophile of the family sleeps soundly...nobody is incitibg hatred and violence against him. That is preserved for the female non-criminal.

@wishingyouwell not quite true a brave young man in Scotland , shouted at him he was a dirty old man as he paraded himself through the streets after the queens death.

This man was arrested and charged...for actually telling the truth.

Yet people can spout utter hatred to MM and the royal family sit back and say nothing

Seems they will protect a Nonch but won't protect a women who quite frankly hast really done anything apart from love one of their family members

I think this whole mess highlights maybe it's time the RF faded into the background .

His daughter is unequivocal in her denunciation of what her father wrote.
She doesn't see him 'playing' the public. She's called him out for the hate filled misogynist that he is.
You can try patronising me @Anklespraying but it makes no difference.
