Are they giving it back then?

What does that mean? I don’t understand “giving it back”, they’ve moved out, they live in Windsor now. That means someone else can move in.

MaulPerton · 18/12/2022 01:01

I just want the monarchy abolished

You are unlikely to get anything better in its place, unfortunately. One look around the world and at past history tells us this. Probably best stick with what we've got because while the chances of getting something better are slim, there is a big chance of making things much worse. Not worth the risk.

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 01:01

No, the court circular is the official record of meetings etc with external bodies. It does not record every letter written, every paper read, every discussion with staff about setting up meetings with charities, regiments, factories, schools, every discussion on planning for formal events, entertaining, meetings with housekeeping and catering, land and farm managers, travel plans etc etc etc.

So what do they do when the kids are at school and nursery or with the nannies? Lots of hours were they are doing nothing then?
You forget we have mainly on this forum all had kids and worked while children are at school. We know the reality and how much time you have when they go to school. Most of us spend that time working.

They work. HTH.

Also lots of women are SAHMs even when their kids are in school. Maybe Catherine does whatever those women do in the day?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 18/12/2022 01:04

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:56

When a 90 year old woman was doing more engagements than you I do not think you can claim to be hard working.

So ‘hard work’ is only benchmarked by the oldest person in the establishment and how much work she does?

For someone who doesn’t care about them and wants them a abolishes you sure are focussed on making sure they do lots and lots of work for establishment you think should be redundant

Must have very understanding bosses and flexible jobs to fit their work around the royal gallivanting: what is it that they do? Probably we’ll never know, for security reasons.

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 01:07

Judging from all the threads you’ve started, I don’t think Kate could please you no matter what she did or how many hours she worked

Indeed and I know some people by virtue of being a taxpayer think that means they’re entitled to know everything that’s in the Royal’s knicker drawers, their blow-by-blow account of their day’s work will probably never published and nor does it need to be.

What does that mean? I don’t understand “giving it back”, they’ve moved out, they live in Windsor now. That means someone else can move in.

The official announcement in September said they are keeping apartment 1A as their ‘official residence and their working base’ and are also keeping Anmer Hall.

So, no. They haven’t ‘moved out’ and nobody else will be moving in.

In addition, for those people who have suggested otherwise, they haven’t downsized, they’ve added a 3rd property to the country mansion and large London apartment they already have which they will be keeping.

Talia99 · 18/12/2022 01:38

Make that a 4th property. Apparently they also have a home at Balmoral given to them by the Queen Mother.

MarshaMelrose · 18/12/2022 02:36

For most of us as we get older, we slow down and the amount of work we do decreases. For the King and Queen their work increases.
So I don't blame Kate for taking time out with her kids when she was younger. Her life is just going to get busier.

I want my daughters to look up to a woman like Meghan. I don't want them to think that their aim in life should be to be a subservient woman like Kate who gave up her voice and her independence for a man. Meghan is a terrific role model for today's teens and luckily they seem to admire her much more than they do the role Kate plays. I am sure Kate is a great mum behind the scenes, but really it is 2022, let the woman be real.

“I am sure Kate is a great mum behind the scenes, but really it is 2022, let the woman be real.”

That was what I was trying to say, but you said it much better. I like her -as much as you can like any public figure I’ve never met.

Are there really people who have never seen a documentary advancing a particular cause or point of view? It’s vastly more common than a documentary presenting a balanced case weighing up multiple differing perspectives that allows the viewer to make up their minds entirely free of any influence from the production team.

Perhaps just quickly list the first five well-known documentaries you’ve seen that aren’t advancing one perspective over another?

Any decent documentary maker will attempt to offer a balanced view, especially if many of the claims presented are contentious.

Yes he has a superinjunction, try making a thread about William's affair and it has to be taken down. Mumsnet like other media outlets have to follow this

Utter nonsense. This rumor was maliciously started by Giles Coren - who was put up to tweeting it during a drunken weekend spent with Harry and Meghan at Soho House in Amsterdam.

Coren later admitted he had done it for a joke and it was all untrue.

The aim was to try to damage Will and Kate's reputations online, which Meghan's super-fans see as some sort of deranged mission. They have been frantically spreading the rumors online ever since. They often cite 'superinjunctions' as the reason why it's never been reported anywhere, ever. Of course, a superinjunction wouldn't prevent the story from being reported abroad, and some of Meghan's super-fans/ pr plants will often claim that 'friends in Europe/ the US/ Australia say it's been reported openly there' but of course, it hasn't been reported by a credible publication - anywhere - ever - because it's all made up.

Kate's sister Pippa even named her daughter Rose - the same name as the woman the rumors were about - but those determined rumour-mongers just carried on, insisting this is a 'double-bluff'. Seriously! Who would saddle a child with a name for life just for the sake of outwitting the rumour-mongering of some online fanatics?

Thankfully, the time is approaching when people will need to post under their own traceable identities on forums like this one - the process is happening already, for example on The Times comments section as of last week. What a welcome change that will be, and let's see just how vociferous some posters are about spreading false and malicious rumours then.

”Thankfully, the time is approaching when people will need to post under their own traceable identities on forums like this one - the process is happening already, for example on The Times comments section as of last week.“

I think it’s a good idea too. However, I thought all identities were already traceable. By our IP addresses. Available to mn or twitter etc, and if something libellous is said for example, to the police etc. Is this correct, does anyone know?

I do hope it’s not having to post under our own names though. Some people, especially women need to be able to be anonymous on social media because they have stalkers, abusive ex. Also things like wanting to discuss family problems, health problems etc, sm can be v valuable for anonymous advice and support.

Agreed. It's more about having to prove your identity when you sign up to join a forum or other social media, and becoming accountable for everything you post. People will be much less inclined to make slanderous, false allegations then.

BadgerB · 18/12/2022 06:55

I want my daughters to look up to a woman like Meghan.

Really? Lies and self-interest. She will never be happy - whatever she achieves, it will never be enough

Kate married the man she wanted. We will never know whether it was because of his position, or if she'd have married him anyway. She does the job she signed up for well, and obviously adores her children.

NotDoingThisToday · 18/12/2022 07:35

FWIW my mother is in Australia and she is a keen royal watcher and she has never heard of the affair rumour until I mentioned it (before I knew it had been started by GC as a joke which he has admitted to).

Bit of a shit joke tbh.

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 07:42

She doesn't do it well at all because she hardly does it, that is what irks many people. She has always had a very poor work ethic. Clocks in very low on royal engagements pre and post children. Terrible work ethic pre and post marriage. It's all very grasping.

MrsTumblebee · 18/12/2022 07:45

I don’t want my daughters to look up to someone who did the scenes they did in a tv drama and advert in a man’s magazine.

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 07:51

wishingyouwell, tbh with your history on this thread your claim would convince me that Kate is the hardest working of anyone.

Did you read my post upthread about the behind the scenes work that goes on? Do you really think the court circular included every moment of her working day? It doesn't - it includes the public facing bits only. You have no idea about the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes.

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 08:01

@Coxspurplepippin Princess Anne is consistently hard working, over time. Kate is consistently lazy over time and thus, entitled.
Pretending she is doing lots behind the scenes is ill informed at best. Her output is shocking. She could have done so much more with her position and to further worthy causes over the last decade, plus. She hasn't however got the work ethic or the compassion.

BahHumbug2022 · 18/12/2022 08:01

I don't want them to think that their aim in life should be to be a subservient woman like Kate who gave up her voice and her independence for a man.

Its not subservience to William but to the job.
Plenty of jobs require people to not say what they think. Mostly it’s called being professional.

TheaBrandt · 18/12/2022 08:02

I guess if you were looking for someone for your daughter to emulate out of all of them although not strictly royal is probably Carole Middleton. Established a strong loving family seems to have a good marriage and her adult kids adore her and she set up an extremely successful business from scratch. And from a modest background.

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 08:19

@TheaBrandt Carole herself has a good work ethic but unfortunately has not instilled this in her three children.
