Are Netflix secretly playing Harry and Meghan?

H&M think they are dictating the Netflix narrative, but I wonder if Netflix are actually playing a longer game? This was billed as their story, but they are so tone deaf and are exposing themselves to ridicule with their ham fisted attempts to justify their behaviour. It's so full of ridiculous unsubstantiated statements and generalisations with no evidence to back it up. It's using stock photographs of photographers that have nothing to do with them. Why not show real photographers? A ridiculous car chase with a lone photographer on a moped provoking panic and faux fear in the couple is laughable. And as for Harry's face as Meghan takes the piss out of the queen? This was definitely seen by the editors who chose to leave it in.

Will Netflix get a double helping from this series with the candy-floss fluff that's the first airing, with a second being the dissection of this sad and deluded pair?

My understanding is that the royal sources are using it to discredit him.

ArcaneWireless · 14/12/2022 19:43

Discredit him? Unfortunately he doesn’t need help or sources to help in that regard.

My understanding is that those involved in sensationalising their truth are the ones doing far more damage than the institution ever could.

It's interesting it is being reported that William won't have people criticise Harry no matter how much the situation must be incredibly disappointing.

He knows Harry has a very fragile mental and emotional state, he knows he is paranoid and deluded. He knows he is being horribly exploited by Netflix and all his fake allies in the US. No matter what H does I bet he'll continue to think ffs but won't want the no doubt damaging stuff they have on this pair of clowns released, as he knows Harry will end up ostracised and in a tragic downward spiral.

I tend not to believe everything I read in the Daily Mail

Tezza1 · 14/12/2022 20:27

@milti Yes, I also got all excited, looked it up on Fantastic Fiction and realised that I had read it when it first came out a few months ago.

Also, speaking of Netflix, they have serialised KS's "Pieces of Her" with Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote in the leads.

ArcaneWireless · 14/12/2022 20:59

I tend to believe that William won’t/wouldn’t go out of his way to hurt Harry. It doesn’t have to be in the Mail to believe that.

Only one side is casting aspersions at the minute though. And by letting everyone be tarred with the same brush, it doesn’t look as though H has the same consideration.

They should have the courage of their convictions to name and shame anyone guilty of awful behaviour.

It is unfair to just put out mealie mouthed sweeping statements designed to wound just because they can.

Of course they also can’t be properly called up on it if they don’t name anyone.

In my book that is cowardly.

Remarkable statement to make about somebody you don't know.

'Only one side is casting aspersions...' is ridiculously naive - only one side is putting their names to their comments, granted.

SirChenjins · 14/12/2022 21:58

If you mean H&M they’re not putting names to their comments.

ArcaneWireless · 14/12/2022 22:16

What is remarkable is that you’ve chosen to take what I believe or think is to be taken as anything other than an opinion.

However, should William make a tawdry documentary and make vague accusations, then I may be persuaded to change my mind.

Until then, I can only see one side casting aspersions.

And if you read my previous post, I think they’ve been done up like kippers by those sensationalising everything. In my ridiculously naive opinion, those encouraging them along this path will do more damage to them than anyone else.

Once the book is out they will have run out of steam and I think that is the position the RF is rightly taking.

I do wonder what they will do after that though.

One would hope that now they have aired their grievances and told "their truth" it has helped them move on and live the lives most of us on the planet could only ever dream of.

I actually warmed to them and am "on their side".

His mum was killed at the hands of he paparazzi.

He's got his wife away to stop that happening to her.

He's doing what any decent man should do!

Diana courted the press too. She died because she wasn’t wearing a seat belt in a car with a speeding drunk driver at the helm. I say that as someone who liked Diana but we must be honest about this.

Spambod · 17/12/2022 20:50

Netflix left a bit in that made me laugh out loud where Harry complains about people trashing the rf for money. I do think the director left that in to play them both as it was op so ironic.
what I really hated was the close ups of the kids. Harry was crapping on about consent but there was prolonged footage right in the face of a new born lilibet. Wrong offensive and exploitative.

I'm amazed how the curtsey scene has been misinterpreted by so many. Her point was the genuine blunder she made after she was thrown in at the deep end and she thought Harry was joking when he asked her if she knew how to curtsey, on their way to an unplanned meeting of the queen. She had curtseyed elaborately in real life to break the ice, assuming Harry had been joking that a curtsey was expected. Harry is probably cringing because he knows it's his fault for not prepping her.

Exactly
That is exactly why he was cringing. It was because he had left her unprepared and he felt a bit embarrassed by this. Naysayers turned it into Harry was embarrassed by Meghan.
That man loves that woman.

I personally don't think she was trying to be rude. She was just playing the whole thing as a laugh. But Harry clearly didn't think it was funny. He didnt look like her was cringing. He looked hard faced. He looked contemptuous of her that she was taking something important to him amd making fun of it publicly. Like lots of things, it's OK when we mock something we care about, it's not ok when someone else does it.

I agree. It shows that she doesn’t really understand the whole system that she mocks and what it has meant to him. Which is pretty revealing.

diddl · 23/12/2022 08:26

It seems that he didn't care enough to inform her & she didn't care enough to inform herself.

If you knew that you might meet the Queen you'd look up what to do wouldn't you?

bakalava · 23/12/2022 11:45

well, that's just it. They don't much care about anything or anyone enough to make that effort (apart from their finances).

That man loves that woman (cue Hallmark tune). That woman loves that trust fund. 😂

He wasn’t cringing. Sorry, but his face was of anger, not embarrassment.

You could see that by the clenching of the jaw and curl of his lip.

Yes, contemptuous, thats exactly what it was

bakalava · 23/12/2022 11:52

Yesterday, i read that they found a still of her from Suits doing a normal curtsey fairly effortlessly. She would have done many of those movements during ballet classes (which she took). There is also the video of when she played a queen in a school production where all the kids were doing them before her.

Where does that leave her whole anecdote (and credibility for that matter?).

When they were interviewed by Oprah, she said that Harry mentioned she’d have to curtsey, and then, as they were meeting the Queen at Windsor Royal Lodge where she was with the York family, Sarah Ferguson came running out to meet her before she went on to show her how to curtsey.

We’ve also now seen the footage of her performing a curtsey as an actress on Suits.

In the Netflix documentary however, she now claims to have no clue how to curtsey or what was expected, and so shows us an over the top, flowery version of an obeisance, not a traditional curtsey.

Righto Meghan, yet another instance where your accounts vary considerably, and don’t accord with your known history either.

Yep- she lies about the weirdest things.

She also lied about being officially married three days before she actually was which was refuted by the archbishop of canterbury. She also lied about that Lion King cast member telling her that her wedding was celebrated in Africa just as much as when Mandela was freed and that there was rejoicing in the streets. The cast member denies ever saying this and said they were "baffled" why she said that. She also claimed she grew up with a single mum who had to juggle everything to bring her up when she actually lived solely with her father from age 9.

Its just bizarre. These weird lies which she keeps trotting out make her look really insincere and I'm not surprised people are finding it all a bit odd/suspicious. One lie- you could play off as a simple misunderstanding but there appear to be lots of them.

SirChenjins · 23/12/2022 12:13

Yep- she lies about the weirdest things

It's almost like she has a very active imagination, where (in her head) these things really did happen - and this can change several times as she reimagines the story. It's very strange.
