Why do people feel it’s okay to say nasty things about Meghan on social media?

Lilyyy · 08/12/2022 21:02

Why do people care so much about her and Harry’s relationship and are so intent on just being incredibly nasty about someone they don’t even know or really know the truth about? Harry must love her and be happy so why don’t the media and people on social media just let them be?

genuinely asking as I don’t understand why she gets so much hatred everywhere, must be really bloody hard for them to see it all the time. People act like she’s a murderer or something.

That would be the Tom Bowers who said that, “It’s Meghan, I’m after.”

That would be the Meghan who's one half of a notoriously litigious couple who hasn't sued in this instance.

Thinkbiglittleone · 13/12/2022 20:27

Because some people are just vile that's why.
They sit behind their keyboards, like cowards, being vile.
There is no excuse for it, it just shows them as horrible people.

Quite. They seem to have taken it upon themselves to be offended on behalf of one of the most privileged families on the planet who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire 😅 absolutely outraged that PH may have called the queen a liar....so fucking what? She might well have been - she's not ya nan, none of us know these people 🙄

I can only find that MM sued Mail on Sunday/Mail online.

And Harry is suing Sun and defunct News of the World over historical phone hacking.

Anything else?

What's that got to do with it? The DM is full of lies at the moment... 27 articles in one edition. Should they spend their life suing all these ridiculous articles and ridiculous people? Should they be suing Dan Wootton and Piers Morgan?

No. They should get on and live their life which is what they're doing. And if they want to make a Netflix series pointing out how it has been for them, about their personal story, the toxicity of the press, twhy they left... well good for them.

I'm glad they're doing this. It's brave

I can only comment on what I see and what I see is really pretty grim

meinteresamucho · 13/12/2022 22:04

Thanks! What about JK's email about the bullying though? Was that just leaked?

I think what happened was that an employee approached the Times saying they'd been bullied. The place launched an investigation and Knauf's email got leaked. I don't know who leaked it. Could have been Knauf, could have been one if the recipients, or it could have bee someone in one if the offices.
I don't know if it was leaked in its entirety or just quoted from.

meinteresamucho · 14/12/2022 04:27

Interesting. I wonder what they thought could be done given the confidentiality clauses but clearly they were hoping something would happen.

Tezza1 · 14/12/2022 04:51

@Lampzade "All I would say is that Meghan worked on Suits for years, (where she was the main character)"

The main character? We must have watched different versions of "Suits." Let me just double check: you do mean the show starring Gabriel Macht and Gina Torres?

Ineedtocleanmywoodenblinds · 14/12/2022 05:30

Because people have decided it’s fine to dehumanise her. She’s is no way acted perfectly but it’s shocking the way seemingly very measured people go out of their way to say dreadful things about her. Just don’t watch her, comment on her or engage. It’s really easy.

I understand the Palace lifted Knauf's NDA. Don't ask me for proof but that appears to be the case rom all I've read
Maybe we'll hear more

An NDA can't protect an employer if there's illegal behaviour. Hence Knauf wasn't constrained by an NDA by reporting to the court that Meghan had lied. Same if she or Harry had bullied staff. I think they'd already reported it to Knauf. Maybe they didn't think it was being actioned. And, actually, in that case, they achieved their objective because the Palace made a public statement that they would hold an investigation looking into the allegations.
Or, more likely, they just wanted to expose both of them publicly. It's no different to sources speaking to an author. I guess it's up to the palace if they think it worth investigating the leak or not.

Probably not.

But as appears above they seem to want to.

meinteresamucho · 14/12/2022 12:07

But if illegal behaviour can be spoken about freely, what's stopping the people who made the original allegations from coming forward? There's constant talk of them asking the Palace to lift the confidentiality contracts? Is it just a case of worrying that any additional details that might come out could be deemed non-disclosable?

PeekAtYou · 14/12/2022 12:11

Being a whistleblower makes it harder to get future jobs as employers will be more wary of hiring you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/12/2022 12:59

I'd be amazed if they did; even the palace might struggle to say with a straight face that the freedom to speak up only applies to Meghan issues, and if they applied it overall there's no knowing what the staff may come out with

H&M aren't the only ones who try to control the narrative, and on the whole the RF probably have more to lose

I don't suppose there's,anything to stop them comingbforward but maybe they don't want the publicity - which could be for a variety of reasons. I think some names of those who were unhappy with how they were treated have since been released in one way or another.
I doubt they're considering doing away the confidentiality clauses. I think all/most celebrities have confidentiality agreements. It's one thing someone complaining that they're being treated appallingly, it's another for an employee to reveal who someone's dating or where they go to eat regularly. I doubt the royals would like their private legal business revealed either. Despite that, some staff still reveal details they've signed that they wouldn't. Like the queen using tupperware to store her cereal in rather than in silver caddies.

meinteresamucho · 14/12/2022 14:16

I'm sure they wouldn't want to talk about anything other than the supposed abuse. As someone said, it would impact their future employment prospects to be giving away details on anything else but if someone was behaving illegally, I think most people would be very sympathetic.

Unless of course you're Jason Knauf, then you can get a job with the next in line to the throne.

My MAIN point was that she worked on that series for many years and there wasn’t any accusations of bullying. In fact , those who worked with her said that she was lovely

Exactly
They would be in court every day if they attempted to sue every person who told lies about them. Furthermore, suing the likes of TB would ensure more publicity for him.
Meghan and Harry are money makers for some of these people . Clout chasing at its finest

That might have been YOUR main point, or what you intended as your main point, but my MAIN point is that that is not actually what you wrote in the post to which I responded.

You wrote "where she was the main character" and you were wrong.

Her position as an actress on suits, where she was probably low in the pecking order, was starkly different to the position she married into some two years later where she was given her own staff.

Who hasn't known of/had a work colleague given a promotion who then, when given a whiff of authority, has a personality transplant and turns into a complete asshat. It's quite common.
