wow they really are a vile couple

yoyy · 01/12/2022 18:09

Bigger to you maybe, but as we have seen today by the reaction to Lady H, racism is far more important and has far greater implications than Charles having an affair.

Charles isn't having an affair now though but it was huge at the time.

As I said racism & the Royals isn't new. I'd like to think racism was important too but yet again the "royals" are embroiled in another scandal. They clearly aren't learning from things are they! 😆 We will just have to agree to disagree.

Seriously, people are only talking about/watching them because they keep pushing themselves in the media when they said they wanted a private life. This is the opposite of a private life.

you think they dictate to the Daily Mail? You can push yourself out there as much as possible but if people don't click on the stories it's irrelevant.

Not sure about that, the Beckhams are in the papers at least once a week and they truly are irrelevant but money talks.

Newwardrobe · 01/12/2022 18:15

What's their objective? Is it to bring down the monarchy? If they do , then what ? Their lives won't change.
If it's to make us all see how wronged they've been and we all say 'aah yes , you've been terribly wronged' , then what ? They will still carry on and nothing will change for them.

yoyy · 01/12/2022 18:17

There's been loads of press about Beckham & the World cup, have you missed that? It's all clickbait.

changeme4this · 01/12/2022 18:17

somewhat over it actually. Drama, drama, drama, all the frigging time.

BedTaker · 01/12/2022 18:19

Christ, they're fucking annoying aren't they?

They are never going to accept that they divide opinion and that some people just don't really like them. They are constantly chasing this short term validation with interviews, books, documentaries but they are never going to find it, because with each one some people will be on their side and some will criticise them. They are never going to be universally liked and the RF universally hated.

It feels like because they weren't able to 'revolutionise' the Royal Family from within, they are now really bitter and just want to bring it down.

The problem is, history has shown that the RF's policy of commenting as little as possible and just getting on with public service works pretty well, and definitely better than the way thr Sussexes are going about things.

Let's face it though, we're all going to watch it aren't we?Smile

yoyy · 01/12/2022 18:20

I do feel sorry for W&K though, they wanted the press for their tour & you have this, the racist godmother & what idiot thought a Celtics game was a good idea 🤦🏻‍♀️

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/12/2022 18:23

They had no intention of ever being on Netflix or Spotify. That was never the plan They did that in order to make money to pay for a house and a life and future security

Hell of an assumption about the plans there, onlylarkin
I don't pretend to know either way, but what would have been clear is that their chosen lifestyle would cost far more than Harry's inheritance and Meghan's acting earnings, and that therefore they'd need more from somewhere

For all I know they may have really believed folk would pay megabucks to hear Harry's maunderings about the climate, but since that was never likely it's hardly unrealistic to wonder if they considered a Plan B

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/12/2022 18:24

I also feel sorry for W&K. Netflix could have held back on the date. Pretty trashy of Netflix to try to sabotage their visit across the pond.

I never thought that but you are so right. They are seeking validation.

BedTaker · 01/12/2022 18:25

What's with the photo of Kate with a face like thunder in the trailer too? Is she in the firing line or is it just to get people talking about the trailer?

My sister in law is a huge pain in the arse a lot of the time, but I would never publicly slag her off to the entire world in a documentary, because she is my brothers wife.

Serenster · 01/12/2022 18:33

No - Harry said that himself.

Oprah: So, what do you say to the people who say you came here, you made these multimillion-dollar deals and that you’re just money-grabbing royals?

Harry: First off, this was never the intention.

Oprah: Mm-hmm.

Meghan: Yeah.

Harry: And we’re certainly not complaining. We . . . our life is great now. We’ve got a beautiful house. We’ve got a beautiful . . . I’ve got a beautiful family. And the dogs . . . the dogs are really happy. But at the time, during Covid, the suggestion by a friend was, ‘What about streamers?’

Meghan: Yeah, we genuinely hadn’t thought about that before.

Harry: We hadn’t thought about it. So there were all sorts of different options. And, look, from my perspective, all I needed was enough money to be able to pay for security to keep my family safe.

yoyy · 01/12/2022 17:57

I don’t think you understand how propaganda/promotion and the media work.

err yeah I do

I’m vaguely interested but not enough to watch whatever this is.

Why do you think anyone cares if you watch it or not, it's not about you.

You’re a treat aren’t you?

Why do you think anyone cares what you think? You clearly do given your prevalence on the thread.

wordler · 01/12/2022 18:36

Apparently, it's a six-part series - I wonder how long each episode will be - I can't believe they've got enough material to cover six hours - I know there are loads of pictures and video of them but in terms of what they want to actually say for six hours.

Readinginthesun · 01/12/2022 18:37

I understood that the Oprah interview was to be their last word on their time with the RF ?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/12/2022 18:38

Is (Kate) in the firing line or is it just to get people talking about the trailer?

We can't yet know, BedTaker, because it is after all only a trailer

I hope not though, because with W&K being just about the best hope the rotten institution has, I can't see that bringing a happy ending for anyone

the80sweregreat · 01/12/2022 18:40

I won't waste six minutes of my time in this , let alone six hours ! ..

Serenster · 01/12/2022 18:42

Readinginthesun · 01/12/2022 18:37

I understood that the Oprah interview was to be their last word on their time with the RF ?

Indeed, Readinginthesun. Just before the Oprah interview aired “a source close to the couple” told The Daily Telegraph:

'It was something they felt they wanted and needed to do, but now they have done it they feel a line has been drawn under that chapter of their lives and they want to move on.'

The source said that to emphasise their point, they planned to announced a raft of work projects, including some connected to their lucrative Spotify and Netflix deals.

Those work projects of course evolved to rehashing their issues from their time with the Royal family - what a surprise!

Readinginthesun · 01/12/2022 18:37

At this stage, Meghan must have spent more time talking about being in the royal family than actually being in the royal family.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/12/2022 18:44

No - Harry said that himself

I know, Serenster, and like yourself I remember very well what they both said to Oprah about media deals
However they've said quite a lot of things, and as things have turned out not all of them were necessarily reliable

Newwardrobe · 01/12/2022 18:45

When was it that Harry was touting Meghan to the CEO of Disney for voice over work ?

Readinginthesun · 01/12/2022 18:50

IcedPurple · 01/12/2022 18:43

Agree . Surely they can’t have any more “grievances “ to air ? I do wonder what they will talk about after the series and the book? I can’t see Spotify renewing the Archetypes podcasts .

ZenNudist · 01/12/2022 18:51

6 hours!?
That's going to be a lot of padding.

I would have thought Harry would have tales to tell but he's done that in his book. Is her rehashing his book for TV?

Megan has probably saved a juicy titbit of a perceived slight from a few years back. She's a consummate reality star. I'd really thought they wanted to be something better.

The over dramatic trailer doesn't make you want to watch it.

saffronrabbit · 01/12/2022 18:51

The Netflix series and the book are about to unleash a whole lot of hurt into the RF and also themselves.

They are so destructive.
