Who is behind the camera taking pictures of Meghan crying?

It's their documentary. They'll have seen and approved everything in advance.

They do not approve nor control the dates of release. Only Netflix can do this.

I read the comments before watching the trailer and thought it was Mn being dramatic… but that photo of Kate is something else! Dramaorama!

Dramarama indeed!

Parrish · 01/12/2022 15:37

I am genuinely confused about Meghans comment….what “stakes” is she talking about? What does she mean by “when the stakes are this high”? I really don’t get what’s she is talking about at all. What is at stake for her here?

and similarly what is Harry protecting his family from? The racism in the UK royal family? The uk press?

it all seems a bit over dramatic. Unless I am missing something?

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 01/12/2022 15:40

I don’t think H&M will be happy until they’ve torn down the UK monarchy.

Their whole narrative is about the misery of not being able to choose to be your own self and of being forced into a role.

They’re challenging the whole concept of being born into a role.

The photo of Kate is awful. But everyone will realise that editing surely - in every single other photo/video we see of her she’s totally gracious and lovely.

keepyertrapshut · 01/12/2022 15:40

At my most charitable, I think after this has aired and Harry’s book has been released, H&M need to move on from this. They seem to be stuck in needing to relive and preform what they say was a very traumatic period of their lives, despite being out of that situation now and clearly being low-to-no contact with the family they found toxic.

My DH is NC with his father and has been for years, and his attitude has always been that he doesn’t carry the trauma of that forward with him in his life. He feels no need to relive that hurt constantly - it’s in his past and he has a very happy present.

I hope they’re able to do the same, because this can’t be healthy for them. Moving forward is key. I imagine for them the fear is that people won’t be as interested in them and their projects without the constant wondering if they’re about to talk about the RF again. It all feels quite messed up.

I also hope they don’t talk explicitly about other members of Harry’s family, given their focus on telling “their” story and their desire for privacy in their own lives. If that were me I’d extend that to others.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 01/12/2022 15:41

what “stakes” is she talking about? What does she mean by “when the stakes are this high”?

tearing down the monarchy probably

keepyertrapshut · 01/12/2022 15:42

@Parrish I completely agree, I was baffled by the “stakes” as well. They weren’t trying to escape from a fascist regime - when they decided they wanted to leave they were able to, very easily. I wonder what it will be.

Byfleet · 01/12/2022 15:44

Where is the trailer? I have been on to netflix and can't find it. Whatnis the programme called?

Suemademedoit · 01/12/2022 15:44

what “stakes” is she talking about? What does she mean by “when the stakes are this high”?

Leaving the RF on bad terms? Going it alone?

Or, more likely, when their reputation with the public and therefore future earning power are at stake because of unfair treatment of them by the media?

Suemademedoit · 01/12/2022 15:48

They weren’t trying to escape from a fascist regime

So true! The black and white, dramatic music, speeding up shots of suggestive shady power at play (soldiers marching, newspapers rolling off the presses etc) - it wouldn’t be amiss for an Ed Snowdon or the Pegasus Papers takedown. Instead it’s just two rich people moving to California and staying rich 😂

FaithsSong · 01/12/2022 15:52

The first time you see the Kate image - it’s shocking - quite theatrical / pantomime - like an evil step mother character. V sensationalist.

It’s v revealing though on where the fixation and projection lies.

I think MM is subconsciously very threatened by the decades long emotionally intimate relationship H had with K before she came on the scene.

If his mother, Diana was alive she would likely be the target. Bit like the Beckham / Peltz stuff. Some people are very possessive and can’t share friendships / relationships.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 01/12/2022 15:53

I’ve worked for Netflix and produced programmes for them. You have no control over the trailer - you deliver the programme and Promos (a internal department totally removed from the production company) cut the trailer and of course they use the most dramatic footage (after all, look at the chat it’s created).

In the actual programme, that shot / still of Kate could extend or pan to someone else. It may be accompanied by voice over that’s sympathetic to her but of course the promo department are going to cut it for maximum impact.

Judge H&M on the programme, not the trailer.

Lindy2 · 01/12/2022 15:53

I just watched the trailer.

What a load of self indulgent tripe. That 59 seconds was more than enough for me. I will not be wasting any time watching any of the rest.

Harry and Meghan really need a reality check kick up the arse.

upfucked · 01/12/2022 15:59

INACGMOOH · 01/12/2022 15:10

Thank you.

So it’s just a rehash of Oprah. Or has something else happened since then.

If I was W and K and wouldn’t speak to to them again because it will end up in a talk show or documentary.

pigonalipstick · 01/12/2022 15:11

The vitriol on here is awful. Shame on all of you. And I'm no royalist by far.

And it's not a picture of Catherine. It's a picture of all four of them at the commonwealth service

And out of all the photos of them together they selected one where just before the event there had been an almighty row ?

Byfleet · 01/12/2022 16:00

Please can someone tell me how they found the trailer? 🙏

Lakeyloo · 01/12/2022 16:00

Tacky and desperate...and I'm pretty sure Megan is the last person to let someone else have a say over which pictures were used. I can see it now.. "just hold that crying pose a bit longer Meg while I go and grab my camera. That'll look great on the old Netflix doc" Can't bear all of this airing one's dirty laundry in public business. Sort it out behind closed doors and if you can't, very sad for Harry and William but move on. Get on with your lives because you are wasting a lot of energy being bitter (although probably making A LOT of money at the same time). They are probably all as bad as each other tbh but M&H (can't get past the high street shop when initials are the other way round) know full well that the other side can't and won't put their side forward. Thank goodness the Queen isn't around to see this.

@Byfleet google "Harry and Megan Netflix trailer", loads of the online news sites and magazines have it (Hello is one of them)

Bluekerfuffle · 01/12/2022 16:05

If they are after sympathy this isn’t what it inspires in me. It just shows them as being very nasty and bitter, navel-gazing people who think an awful lot of themselves.

MrsHGWells · 01/12/2022 16:06

The trailer is breathtakingly nauseating.. MM is dillusional to think any of us really care anymore about the Sussex’s stakes?

multi layered tower of narcissism, self labeled victimisation neatly wrapped up in vacuum of Netflix, a bumper family album for the offspring.. thanks mom, why can’t you be more like Aunty Kate

RaRaRaspoutine · 01/12/2022 16:07

Colcat · 01/12/2022 14:00

It's awful. The image of Kate is really shocking. I don't know what they're thinking. They said they wanted privacy!

Kate can't help her face!

LadyVictoriaSponge · 01/12/2022 16:07

That picture is not the Commonwealth service where they had the infamous behind the scenes upset, that shot is from the 2019 Commonwealth Service.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/12/2022 16:08

Meghan came out and said the documentary is not how they pictured it would be or how they wanted to tell it. So Netflix have got stuff that they probably didn't want to include and have included it anyway

I wasn't aware Meghan had said this - any chance of a link? - but surely it's obvious that if there's stuff you don't want someone to use then you don't give it them in the first place?
