The Queen died from...in The Times today

In TT today, Dr Porter discusses what is in the latest biography of the Queen (by Giles B.)

Dr P seems to agree with GB that the Queen had bone cancer. He doesn't say so in so many words but he does bullet-point the signs (of which she appears to have had a number.)

I'm a Royalist (with some exceptions, of course) and feel we are being 'cheated' by (perhaps) having the reason for her death being concealed.
She was well loved and admired by millions.
Isn't the least we are owed an honest account?

I am sure everyone could see that she didn't simply die of 'old age' (in so much as anyone in their late 90s does, to a degree.) The pain she was suffering, the weight loss, the circulation problems evident in her calves (varicose ulcers for years) and her hands.

It's as if we are being taken for fools and I wonder how, legally, her dr is allowed to complete the death cert inaccurately?

My late father had 3 conditions listed on his DC, including dementia, but he'd had two other conditions (major organ deterioration) for many years as well.
Considering he was 95, then 'old age' may have covered it but it wasn't just that.

What is the point of the Palace not being honest?

Jesus

The drip bruising for a start

Now who is being intrusive ?

The death cert was described as 'partial ' so I assume there is more to come

Why would the royals cover up cancer as a cause of death?

They have plenty more to be covering up regardless

stuntbubbles · 30/11/2022 15:35

Sorry for intruding on your very real and important need to change the cause of death on the Queen’s death certificate to something that satisfies your prurience, what a difficult time for you and others on this thread. Flowers

Blossomtoes · 30/11/2022 15:38

The drip bruising for a start

It’s very common for very old people to have bruises on their hands not caused by anything in particular.

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:39

@stuntbubbles
Nice try at deflection

I can't think of anyone whose certificate I'd be less likely to look up!

The OP is reflecting discussion around this legal document .

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:42

I've just looked it up and if the paper I saw was accurate apparently the death cert is now complete .

So it says 'old age' with no 1b etc.

And Giles what's his name is talking about cancer .
I also remember someone who follows the royals mentioning weeks ago that the queens cancer was an open secret .
So the issue has nothing to do with nosiness .
It's about the accuracy of a publicly available legal doc

Oh if someone who ‘follows’ the royals said it, it must be true 🤣.

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:46

And Giles ?

WaddleAway · 30/11/2022 15:47

Is Giles her Doctor?

stuntbubbles · 30/11/2022 15:48

Oh, someone who “follows the royals”! Of course. Once you reach a certain number of commemorative Daily Express china figurines, they keep you updated on her medical records.

WaddleAway · 30/11/2022 15:49

‘Giles claims’… Giles was a mate of Prince Philip. Not the Queen’s Doctor. How on earth would he know what the Queen’s cause of death was?

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:49

Oh this looks plausible ,
Spill the beans before Harry does

Still doesn't explain why , if she had cancer , it wasn't on her death certificate

WaddleAway · 30/11/2022 15:50

Because it may not have been her cause of death.

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:50

Well old age bloody wasn't

WaddleAway · 30/11/2022 15:51

Honestly none of the ‘sources’ you’re linking to are credible. The people most likely to know what caused the queen’s death are the medical professionals who treated her.

FinallyHere · 30/11/2022 15:52

Isn't the least we are owed an honest account?

No.

I'm no royalist and don't consider HM perfect by a long shot. However, she is also a private individual and deserves to have privacy, esp about the cause of death.

WaddleAway · 30/11/2022 15:52

My grandmother’s death certificate said old age. Maybe if a few of her dead husband’s friends throw some rumours about we can start speculating about what ‘actually’ killed her.

stuntbubbles · 30/11/2022 15:54

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:50

Well old age bloody wasn't

Again, how do you know? I don’t mean that in the intrusive way you seem to think – not remotely interested in your speculation about her bruises, thanks. Just interested to know whether you were in the room when she died, do you work at Balmoral, are you a family member?

fUNNYfACE36 · 30/11/2022 15:54

No, I don't think so because she was on her feet appointing the new pm a couple of days earlier. I also think the death certificate would have said

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:54

@FinallyHere

As pointed out repeatedly on this thread - none of us have privacy re our death certificates

They are all available . That's the law.

smilesy · 30/11/2022 15:55

Novella, it seems you are stretching things a bit in your attempt to prove that the Royal Family are trying to deceive us with a “false” document to further justify your belief in republicanism. There is nothing wrong with the certificate. It is not a lie to say she died of old age. She was old and may well have had several conditions but ultimately her body was old and couldn’t carry on functioning and she died. Many posters have shown evidence which says that “old age”’is a valid entry on a death certificate. In fact if I remember correctly it is more common in Scotland where she did in fact die. This subject was covered extensively shortly after her death on another thread, and many poster with actual experience of registering deaths asserted that it was indeed Calais. So you are flogging a dead horse (excuse the pun) with your insistence on it being a false document

Novella4 · 30/11/2022 15:55

@stuntbubbles
Again , I have no interest in the queen .

I do have interest if a legal doc is inaccurate . So did the OP

LosingTheWill2022 · 30/11/2022 15:56

@Novella4 you seem very keen that The Queen should not have 'privileges' that mere citizens do not. But you will not accept that her death certificate is actually just like many others'. The absence of other medical conditions is not proof of special treatment.

smilesy · 30/11/2022 15:58

*The case. Not Calais 🙄

FinallyHere · 30/11/2022 15:59

Still doesn't explain why , if she had cancer , it wasn't on her death certificate

In the UK, there is space for up to three 'reasons' for death. Usually only the immediate presenting problem is recorded

For example, lungs completed congested might have been the immediate cause of stopping breathing. That congestion might have been caused by a cold or even flu.

A younger, fitter person might easily have survived the same flu. An older, more fragile person whose body was already dealing with cancer might not survive that flu.

The death certificate might read

  • congested lungs
  • influenza

It might be correct to also mention the cancer ... or it might not.
