The long awaited documentray is hitting the screen on December 8th:

What with the award in a few days and the book in January they're ramping up the game.

Harry must REALLY REALLY hate his family and the whole institution, I hope he finds the peace / closure he's looking for, it's costing him his family and causing a lot of hurt to them, but I'm sure he is well aware of this.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/12/2022 16:02

And isn't the whole 'planting' of stories old news?

Absolutely; as you said it's been done for years, and seemingly by them all

But as themessygarden just mentioned, H&M do exactly the same and provably so (waits to be told they were only "clarifying" things or "giving background", which also doesn't cover what the emails said at all)

No wonder Meghan ... errr ... "forgot" about them Hmm

'No-one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.'

Is this code for something?

Code for” their truth”

On YouTube there are comments under this new trailer in a similar vein to the previous one…

According to reports there is a shot of photographers chasing Katie Price as she arrived for one of her trials .

wordler · 05/12/2022 16:42

Yes across the two trailers several shots have been identified that are nothing to do with Harry and Meghan - so someone in the trailer department screwed up by searching for generic paparazzi images to jazz up the trailer or they are actually in the programme itself and the editor has made some really weird choices about the images included.

So far people have spotted -

Bank of cameras from a Harry Potter film premiere years before Harry and Meghan met.

Paps at a Katie Price trial

Paps crowding around a car which had Michael Cohen (Trump lawyer) in it.

This isn’t necessarily Harry and Meghan’s fault but is very sloppy of Netflix which has let the promos go out implying all these photographers were stalking the Sussexes.

sashagabadon · 05/12/2022 17:49

With all those bizarre photo choices, Katie price and trumps lawyer of all people ( so not exactly sympathetic characters being photographed) I’m starting to think Netflix is trolling M and H. Or someone there is.
There’s a million more photographer images they could have used. Other royals, other more positive popular celebs.
unless it’s just a publicity stunt to make people watch the trailer.

I'm quite enjoying all the hard work the internet's putting in to analysing the photos 😁

This is quite an amusing piece on the guitar shots:

guitar.com/news/music-news/prince-harry-captured-playing-unconventional-guitar-chord-martin-acoustic/

Anyone else think the cap and glasses shots look like an attempt to channel John Lennon or just me?!

My immediate thought was ‘why is he looking like John Lennon’.

sashagabadon · 05/12/2022 17:50

I guess the yoko Ono suggestion, breaking up the beetles

sashagabadon · 05/12/2022 17:51

Agreed.
I've just seen the second trailer. It will be very hard for all family members to rebuild relationships if the programmes have the same energy!
I suppose they need the money, but once they've spilled their guts there will be nothing new to say.
I really hope Harry finds peace with Meghan.

Readinginthesun · 05/12/2022 18:06

If the series is as bad as the trailers suggest , I am not surprised that Harry had second thoughts and Meghan tried to distance herself from it .

miri1985 · 05/12/2022 18:11

I'm the youngest of four and I remember as a teenager when I was opening Christmas cards with my Mum she asked me if I minded that I was always last when people wrote our names. I said it didn't bother me in the slightest that I was the youngest and it was just a fact of life that I would be listed last and it was nice when people took the time to list our names instead of just saying the family.
Most families have an unwritten hierarchy, that just the way that it is, it doesn't mean anyone is loved less, its just the order people were born in.

Most of us don't work with our families which I agree would make the hierarchy more difficult and its not exactly like its a business where hard work will earn you the top job but if it was it would be Anne that would be Queen.

If Harry is saying that the women who marry into the Royal Family have a really hard time and are treated poorly by the press then he must have a lot of sympathy for Camilla.

If people hated Meghan and didn't want her to be a part of the Royal Family wouldn't they have worked harder to spread negative stories before she and Harry were engaged? The negative stories started to come out after they were married IIRC although some of them were about the preparations for the wedding.

They're going to come off so narcissistically if they keep saying like they did on Oprah that Meghan was just so amazing at the job that they didn't want her to outshine everyone else especially coupled with them getting a load awards unless they have a ton of private footage of them doing stuff to warrant those awards.

derxa · 05/12/2022 18:31

Even if all this succeeds in bringing down the monarchy as many of you hope, it won't bring Harry happiness. Not by a long shot. His whole raison d'etre ceases to exist and he will have lost his father's side of the family forever.

ThePoshUns · 05/12/2022 18:33

The fact that they are using footage of paparazzi photographing other people that themselves, is really damaging for their credibility. The crying on cue for camera and Harry with his head in his hands acting anguished is laughable. I really think the documentary will be one big piss take, as someone mentioned earlier rather like Spinal Tap. I can't wait to watch as I need a really good laugh.

I think it’s actually telling that they used the footage of Kate being hounded, when in the Oprah interview it was said that all Kate endured was ‘gossip’.

There is actually no footage of Meghan being hounded by the paparazzi in the way Diana and Kate were. It’s bizarre

RosettaStormer · 05/12/2022 18:39

I really can't help wondering if the agenda is to force Charles to keep them on a permanent payroll. Blackmail, in other words.

Readinginthesun · 05/12/2022 18:40

Robert Jobson has stated that the supposed intrusive photo of H, M and A was taken by an accredited photographer at the event with Archbishop Tutu .

But surely you blackmail someone before you go to the press with supposedly damaging information? Not after?

Now that they've pulled out the big guns, what's left in the Sussex arsenal?

susan12345678 · 05/12/2022 18:57

To be honest, H&M are only destroying themselves. The public are getting a pretty good insight into the sort of histrionics that the poor Queen & Prince Philip had to deal with in their final months, and this will only bolster sympathy and support for the RF, especially for William and Kate. The more H&M reveal, the more dignified and patient the RF appear

LadyVictoriaSponge · 05/12/2022 18:59

Agreed, I think this will garner a lot of sympathy for the Royal family.

MarshaMelrose · 05/12/2022 19:19

The Depp Heard trial showed that onliners are pretty quick at digging up information to cast doubt over whats been said. So they need to be careful. The OW interview was a one off and done. So any questioning of the veracity had no central point to coalesce around. But this will be on every week so doubt cast over claims made in the first episode will hang around like a bad smell to infect the following ones.

I think they tried the blackmail by doing OW etc. Now they’re ramping it up.

They're in a bit of a bind, aren't they?

They've been big supporters of "be kind" - so if this documentary is not kind, then they risk being seen as hypocrites ('do as we say, not do as we do')

If they major on telling the truth, but footage is from other events (as I've seen suggested) to suggest levels of intrusion that were not as described, then they lose credibility. If people do not believe their truth has even a passing resemblance to actual verifiable fact, then they have naught

AutumnCrow · 05/12/2022 19:34

Harry's bombshell truths predictions:

Meghan's family are a bit shit a lot of the time;

The Saga of Charlotte's Tights;

Tiara-Gate;

William isn't perfect;

Neither is Kate.

Harry mate, 99% of people don't give a f*ck. Especially not after you've made such a wee tit of yourself for a very long time, and desperately 'trailed' this stuff for years while contradicting yourself and being a hypocrite. You're nearly a middle-aged man. It's embarrassing.

wordler · 05/12/2022 19:35

It is like a soap opera which is why it's so compelling - the whole saga is deliciously gossipy. But it's this point in a piece of fiction where you are yelling at the TV "don't do it, are you crazy" at whatever stupid thing the creator is getting one of the characters to do to create a bit of drama:

going into the dark scary basement after hearing a strange noise
ignoring all signs and going out alone with the serial killer
having a big pointless but relationship ending row out of nowhere just so that you can have the romantic race to the airport at the end of the movie

I'm assuming that Meghan and Harry don't have anyone advising them who has their best interests at heart because 'telling their truth' again over and over every six months is getting them nowhere but is making lots of money for everyone else - Oprah, Netflix, tabloids etc.
