I reckon a pp was willing to bet a tenner. Any advance on a tenner? 😂

Readinginthesun · 28/10/2022 11:52

After the book is published and the Netflix series aired what else is left for H and M to say ? Surely there are only so many times they can complain about their terrible lives being part of the RF ?

Readinginthesun · 28/10/2022 11:53

@MrsMaxDeWinter I have screenshot your comment for future reference !

GlorianaCervixia · 28/10/2022 11:56

I very much think that after their documentary and Harry’s memoir come out, there will be diminishing returns from then on. There’s only so many times they can monetise their very brief spell as a senior Royal couple before people lose interest.

Excellent 😁Please remind me in January.

My gut instinct, knowing a little about the ghostwriter JR Moehringer is that it will be a "journey" sort of memoir, from a bad place to a life affirming one.

If you have time, please read just the first chapter of his own memoir THE TENDER BAR, the chapter is free to read on Amazon, It is so so so good.

And there are eery similarities with Harry's story, young boy loses a parent at a tender age, starts flailing as he looks for meaning.

Honesty, I trust this writer. Good for Harry to trust his story to him..

I read Agassi’s memoir and was impressed.

I genuinely do not believe he is going to be stating family secrets etc, it will be about him finding his way from SPARE to the person he is now. I genuinely do not expect this to be 400 pages of grievances. Especially because this is essentially an American memoir, there will be a lot of healing and inspirational stuff. Happy to take bets on this. !!!!!

Agree with this actually. In other words a total Bore Fest Wink

LookingAtYou · 28/10/2022 12:31

'Agree with this actually. In other words a total Bore Fest'

Oh yes i don't imagine it will sharing top secret stuff, it will just be poor me then how he saw the light and had to flee for his life etc (and how he was bffs with hmtq just to please his US fans). I can't see how else he will pitch it really. Be nice if there was some self awareness in there but we all know he doesn't have any and it's always been everyone else's fault.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 28/10/2022 12:31

Oh I am feeling warm and fuzzy! My usual detractors, @LondonWolf and @Readinginthesun agree with me on something.

Maybe Harry's memoir is all we need to bring world peace 😁

'My gut instinct, knowing a little about the ghostwriter JR Moehringer is that it will be a "journey" sort of memoir, from a bad place to a life affirming one.'

Well yes, we know that, of course it will be A Journey To His Truth, to his true authentic self. It's just how much will he wang on about the 'bad place'. I would bet aother tenner and suggest it will be a lot. With recollections varying all over the place.

Someone up there, sorry it's a long thread, said that free speech means the right to speak, but also means that you take the consequences of that free speech.

I agree 100 and more per cent.

Thomas Markle spoke freely to Piers Morgan, Dan Wooton and Tom Bower among others, including some very unpleasant things about his daughter, and as a consequence lost his daughter, and her new family. I hope he can live with that and considers that his free speech was worth the lost relationships.

In the same way, Harry has the right to speak freely too. And in the same way, I hope he can live with the consequences of that free speech. Depending on how cutting the book is about his family, it may well be the end of the relationship, and they may go no contact.

Like Thomas, he will have to weigh whether having his say is more important than the relationships. What he can't do is what Thomas does, to slag his daughter endlessly while expecting her to open her arms to him.

I suspect that the book will be highly introspective about his childhood, Diana's death, his "coming of age" in grief and loss, including his mistakes, Nazi uniforms, underage drinking etc, finding purpose through the army, how therapy helped him come out the other side and how his wife and kids have helped with his healing.

What unpleasant things did he say about his daughter MM?

LookingAtYou · 28/10/2022 15:41

'What he can't do is what Thomas does, to slag his daughter endlessly while expecting her to open her arms to him.'

That is exactly what Harry does though!

Halfwreckedbykids · 28/10/2022 16:12

I just don't know.
There has been so much Megan bashing...I personally think she got high aspirations and ruthless. Cruel to her family, of course go nc if you want to but it could have been handled far better and sympathically.

However I think Harry is as bad if not worse.
In the past he's behaved appallingly and has been bailed out by RF many times.

When they discuss racism do they mention that Harry was the one dressed as a natzi? Or is that ok?

When Megan bleets on and on...does Harry say much? No.....so he is either under the thumb, agrees or worse...agrees but will let her take the hit in the media.

Now this....terrible walking behind his mum....but so did William. And let not forget Harry relished the role as second in line to party so hard and let himself go...a luxury not afforded to anyone (ok Andrew but ykwim)

Harry s silence to date made people believe Megan was the baddie....in reality they are both the same.

Most of us fall out with family from time to time but we get on (excepting abusive cases) but to publicly abuse the RF is disgraceful. I m Irish....and I feel so sorry for RF.

Harry is a grown ass man....taking NO responsibility, taking no prisoners.....he's is behaving awfully.

On the off-chance that this book isn't offensive or awful to RF we still have to bear in mind the anxious wait ahead if RF.
I don't think they could do more than they have...however few slaps on his Royal ass might have copped him on.
Apologies for typos dyslexic and on ohone

I wonder if Marina Hyde has read the M and H hate on mumsnet ??

'I wonder if Marina Hyde has read the M and H hate on mumsnet ??'

Oh please it isn't 'hate on mumsnet' nor is it bashing or any of the many other accusations thrown at those who scrutinise his behaviour.

It is critique and observation. This petulant man didn't get what he wanted from the rf, remember he wanted a role overseas such was his trauma at the hands of the rf! It was only when he was told no that he decided he was hard done to. Fine, but he needs to stop rewriting history and stop picking on his family constantly. He needs to grow up.

MH has a very narrow lens through which she views the world given that all her arguments are in one direction only. I am not sure that anyone reads her stuff given that it's pretty obvious what she is going to say before she says it.

Marina Hyde has won journalist of the year several times .

He was almost a teenager so hardly a little boy.

He was still a little boy.

Didn't Pippa Crerar win it this year? Not a ringing endorsement tbh.

LookingAtYou · 28/10/2022 17:29

'He was still a little boy.'

Yes he was and he absolutely should've been protected from the gaze of millions. The RF made a mistake, they shouldn't have suggested he walked they should have been guided and advised better. However really H should learn to forgive. It wasn’t done out of malice it was absolutely the wrong thing to do but he must move on.

All the bile and vitriol is just so bad for one's wellbeing.

So it's Guardian journalists you object to ?

Got it .
