'So it's Guardian journalists you object to ?'

No no, what they say. Journo of the year doesn't seem a great plaudit was my point.

Novella4 · 28/10/2022 18:37

@LookingAtYou
Well I wasn't seeking to 'laud' her .
I was responding to Maulperton was said no one reads her ...

Novella4 · 28/10/2022 18:39

Anyway this response to the link was to be expected I suppose .
It's a good read

MH is more of a columnist than a journalist- she specialises not in facts, but in her own opinions.

'He was still a little boy.'

Yes he was and he absolutely should've been protected from the gaze of millions. The RF made a mistake, they shouldn't have suggested he walked they should have been guided and advised better. However really H should learn to forgive. It wasn’t done out of malice it was absolutely the wrong thing to do but he must move on.

All the bile and vitriol is just so bad for one's wellbeing.

It was suggested previously on this thread that the decision might have been made to distract the crowd from heckling Charles. Which seems unthinkable until you remember what happened recently to Andrew.

I’ve always assumed that was why? I do think it was the suggestion of number 10 though.

Pinkcadillac · 28/10/2022 21:17

Re. Diana’s funeral, Charles should have kept the princes in Balmoral for as long as possible and do a private church service for their mum. The funeral ended up being a circus and a spectacle for the benefit of the masses that must have been very hard for them to witness.

Novella4 · 28/10/2022 21:23

'A spectacle for the masses'
That's the royals only job .

Novella4 · 28/10/2022 21:24

And we have Netflix now lol

I don’t know how old you are but I remember clearly the RF tried to remain
in Balmoral but were criticised in the media for doing so. I remember the headlines. Also, Blair put pressure on the Queen to have a much more public presence.

The Queen tried to remain in Balmoral - as soon as Charles was told, he flew to Paris and repatriated her. The only person who got criticism was The Queen because she didn't come to London straight away. No one criticised that the boys hadn't been brought down.

pumpkinscoop · 28/10/2022 21:58

The Queen remained at Balmoral with her grandsons, as a good grandmother would, protecting them from the hysterical palaver going on in London

'I wonder if Marina Hyde has read the M and H hate on mumsnet ??'

Oh please it isn't 'hate on mumsnet' nor is it bashing or any of the many other accusations thrown at those who scrutinise his behaviour.

It is critique and observation. This petulant man didn't get what he wanted from the rf, remember he wanted a role overseas such was his trauma at the hands of the rf! It was only when he was told no that he decided he was hard done to. Fine, but he needs to stop rewriting history and stop picking on his family constantly. He needs to grow up.

No, not hate. Just ‘category-5 curtain-twitching fury’.

LookingAtYou · 28/10/2022 22:12

'No, not hate. Just ‘category-5 curtain-twitching fury’.

No 'curtain twitching' required. He keeps oversharing this crap. 'Spare' I mean fgs how very horrid.

Coronateachingagain · 28/10/2022 22:28

Geeee after this book release they face the abyss. How long can you profit on moaning books and moaning podcasts? We will find out soon enough.

Marina thinks Spare a ‘hilarious and brilliant title’

PreparationPreparationPrep · 29/10/2022 06:56

Wow I started to use this phrase as they didn't like to be called haters or similar. I didn't think they took themselves as serious critiques.

Tillsforthrills · 29/10/2022 10:06

Novella4 · 28/10/2022 21:24

Which he is actively participating in.

PoseyFlump · 29/10/2022 10:27

how very horrid.

I'm imagining you clutching your pearls as you say that 😂

LookingAtYou · 29/10/2022 10:31

'Wow I started to use this phrase as they didn't like to be called haters or similar. I didn't think they took themselves as serious critiques'

Well I don't think anyone is likening it to the serious critiquing a novel by a well respected author but I do think it's fine to have a negative opinion of this attention seeking, unpleasant person hellbent on attacking his poor family without being called a 'hater' or the equally basic 'basher'.

MidnightConstellation · 29/10/2022 10:34

The thing is none of this off loading and pity party is going to help his emotional or mental state. It’s only going to increase his bank balance. Which is all he seems to care about these days.

It’s so ironic that they both set themselves up as empathetic and caring philanthropists. The only people they serve are themselves. With the main focus being on keeping their luxurious lifestyle on track.

I imagine the same when the usual old bollocks of MM supporters crying out racist, hater, obsessed usual lazy insults to anyone who critiques the constant drip whinge fest and faux pas by this money driven, attention seeking couple.

In the interest of being public spirited I share an archived version of an article in the Telegraph today, looking at "Spares" around the world. The "workers" and the "shirkers". It's really up to the individual to carve their life and surely the true path to happiness is to embrace your role whichever you choose, whether it is to live the playboy life that some minor royals live or to quietly get on with grafting at causes that interest you whilst remaining loyal to your family and trying not to cause any embarrassment or rock the boat. Harry was doing quite well at the latter until he married someone who wanted the limelight and appears to have convinced him that's what he wanted to. The true tragedy of Harry is that he still isn't ploughing his own furrow and making his own life, he's tagging along behind his wife and as far as I can see has less freedom than he did back in his Royal days.

Exactly. It is all he has and by frequently harping on about the perceived insults and slights he will stay this perpetual victim.

He needs to take some inspiration from the guys in the Invictus Games and learn how to move on from bad experiences not wallow in them.

GlorianaCervixia · 29/10/2022 10:56

Being a spare sounds fantastic to me. I'd rather be Princess Anne than King Charles.
