Not going for the Christmas market after all. Strikes me as a bit odd, as that's usually a good time to maximise sales

The title is very meaningful. When you look at the history of the monarchy, the "spare" has always had problems. And no wonder with a word like that being used to describe you, from the day you are born

Heir and a spare. There's no way that doesn't affect a person.

People seem to think that if you have a life of wealth and privilege that you can't have any problems but that's just not true.

I think that he is fast burning all bridges with his family and that's a shame but when the institution matters more than the person sometimes the person is going to be damaged by that.

Spare me the hypocrisy. He's a multi millionaire living in a californian mansion. Doing what he wants. How people can get involved in this drivel is beyond me.
We all have difficult families and our own problems. We dont all go around feeling sorry for ourselves.

I did a proper snort when I heard the title. I bet the PRH team were happy when they came up with that !

(interestingly the Spanish title has been confirmed as “Spare: In the Shade”. Foreign markets obviously won’t have the “Heir and Spare” connection that English speakers will likely be aware of. But makes it quite clear what the themes will be. Also interesting- PRH are betting on it being a big seller - well, duh - as they are releasing it simultaneously in numerous languages. Normally foreign language versions aren’t negotiated until after publication, as the translation and rights acquisitions adds considerably to the publishing costs. At least PRH will save on marketing though - a lot of it will be done for them! 😃)

It’s making out he wasn’t a wanted child. From what I’ve read this was the period of time that C&D were most happy and Diana definitely wanted another child, not just out of duty. It’s a horrible title.

It could also be argued that he got off lightly, being the 'spare.'
How many people would seriously want to be monarch?
He needs to keep quiet now, continue his 'healing journey' in private rather than washing the whole family's dirty linen in public. It just comes out as revenge/sour grapes, which is not a good look for someone who, with his wife, says they are "all about compassion."

I'll give you clue - money , servants , the chance to opt out of laws you don't like , freedom to get up to god knows what for decades ...
They aren't doing it out of duty you know - they love to spin that line and the gullible lap it up.

Gosh I wonder when they will stop moaning. Surely they've already revealed everything in their interviews? Hard to garner sympathy when he is the architect of his own demise.
