I used to feel sorry for Harry but when they say he wants a quiet life away from publicity and does nothing but publicity I lost my sympathy for him

TellMeWhatIShouldDo · 27/10/2022 13:27

Didn't take long to blame her..

LondonWolf · 27/10/2022 13:28

I'm equating an abused, traumatised child as a victim. Saying a small child should have left the RF is ridiculous.

I didn't say that though...

He got married in his thirties, plenty of time to get himself away from that dreadful, toxic family of his, and seemed to having a pretty good time on their buck. He has never had to worry about paying a bill in his life. Every single practical need has been taken care of for him. He's never had to put food on the table or worry about if he should put the heating this winter. You may wish to believe that this spoiled, cosseted PRINCE was a victim but most people have been through dreadful life experiences and managed not to spend the entire rest of their life whining about how hard they have it. Absolutely ridiculous!

Just thought Of the titles.
SPARE
AIR
BARE

notanotheroneagain · 27/10/2022 13:30

Lol, are we going to have posters coming on here acting all sanctimonious, when they have spent the last few years snidely calling Harry 'just a spare' or '6th in line'. 😂😂

notanotheroneagain · 27/10/2022 13:31

So a twelve year old boy came up with that idea all by himself? Bullshit.

Yep !

KimWexlersPonyTail · 27/10/2022 13:31

Let's hope you doesn't end up as a spare part in California.......

PoseyFlump · 27/10/2022 13:31

lunar1 · 27/10/2022 13:25

@PoseyFlump, I don't think that all that's happened in his life, we all have multiple events that shape us.

Harry is working with Netflix, he can't profit from events while still feeling sorry for himself and expecting us to do the same.

Why not? Or should he 'get over it' now he's an adult. Is that like telling someone who is suicidal to pull themselves together? If Harry wants to blow apart the family that fucked him up then I'll bring the popcorn. The RF is full of abusers but let's hate on Harry and ignore the bigger issues. <cough, Peter Ball>

LookingAtYou · 27/10/2022 13:32

Should have called it The Victim or The Petulant One.

notanotheroneagain · 27/10/2022 13:33

Ladytreacle · 27/10/2022 12:43

I don’t understand your numbers and they certainly have no meaning given that you have no idea how much is being paid by foreign publishers for the rights to translate the book, you don’t know the print run, you don’t know the retail price and many of the other financial details that make up the financial forecast. And before you comment, yes I do – it’s what I do for a living in publishing.

This

foxlover47 · 27/10/2022 13:35

It makes me think of the joke : spare prick at a wedding 🙈🤣

LookingAtYou · 27/10/2022 13:35

'If Harry wants to blow apart the family that fucked him up then I'll bring the popcorn'

Once again when people want to air their grievances about H he doesn’t like it one little bit! breaching privacy and all that. Yet when it's him dishing it, then all bets are off.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/10/2022 13:35

RedHelenB · 27/10/2022 12:09

He was almost a teenager so hardly a little boy.

Nearly a teenager. Okaaaay Did you have a parent die when you were a child?

As for walking behind the coffin, why perpetuate a lie? Harry would have been so angry in later life had his brother walked behind his mum but not him. To help get them through the ordeal, Prince Philip offered to walk with the boys. Ultimately it was Harry’s choice but at 12 it was a terribly difficult choice for all concerned and KC must have been incredibly worried about his boys.

PoseyFlump · 27/10/2022 13:37

@LondonWolf do you not think being raised in the RF would be like living inside a cult? You make it sound so easy with your 'he should have done this' blah. How exactly do you escape the golden cage of the RF? When everything has always been done for you and you can't even walk down the street alone.

Is that like abuse victims are no longer allowed to call themselves victims after the abuse has stopped? Surely it is about the effect on a child being aware he is the spare? Regardless of wealth, he would have suffered trauma. And if you think his adult behaviour is weird then look to his childhood.

He probably knows a hell of a lot more than we do about creepy uncles and family skeletons.

According to mums net, it sounds like the many women who have been abused (by the likes of Jimmy S, etc. or even lesser abuse) should not complain as it all took place ages ago, they are just moaning now.

crowsfeet57 · 27/10/2022 13:41

I like the title. They fucked over a little boy making him walk behind his mother's coffin and now he's fucking with them

Really? Because I suspect that if he hadn't been allowed to do that, he would now be whinging that he wasn't allowed to walk behind his mother's coffin.

Or as I heard said IRL 'I thought you'd be over that by now'.

And you think a twelve year old boy came up with that idea? Although it seems pp are saying it was Blair's idea. There is a massive difference between walking a long way and just joining behind at the end 🙄

Of course he gets to tell his story. It's his to tell, and he clearly feels the need to tell it. He should write the book if he wants to.

What he doesn't get to do is to control the reaction to the book, either by the press, or the readers, or his own family.

I suspect that there will be some self-reflection, some self-pitying, some juicy material, and some material that will make it impossible to ever be fully part of his family again.

It will probably be well written—the ghostwriter is good and has decent prose control.

The problem is, of course, is that all he has to offer is his own narrative. His work will never be lucrative enough to support his lifestyle. And he's decided the lifestyle is more important than his privacy or his peace of mind. It's a fair choice, but it certainly is a choice. So he has to sell parts of himself, and his secrets and private thoughts, off one by one.

Personally, I couldn't live that kind of bankrupted life. It seems awful to hate the thing that you rely on for more money rather than pushing forward with your own life and setting your own terms. But he wants the money, and he wants to settle scores, and that's reasonable enough, I suppose. And he's not going to become more interesting as he ages.

It seems all very hollow and vapid to me, and a sad acknowledgment that his feels his past is what is valuable about him. But he certainly gets to make that choice. I just hope he can stomach the consequences (not familial, but the license it will give people to make his private life public fodder).

This is so well put.

PoseyFlump · 27/10/2022 13:50

Harry could never have a normal life. For all those suggesting that, what does that look like? It's impossible for him either inside or outside of the RF. he's screwed whatever he does.

Readinginthesun · 27/10/2022 13:51

Does anyone know what the other 2 books are about ? I understand that the $20million advance covers 3 ? Also , I understood ( at first ) that ALL proceeds were going to charity but that doesn’t seem to be the case ?
Maybe I am being stupid but looking after such granddaughter so a tad tired !

OliveKitten · 27/10/2022 13:51

Hardly screwed. He has enormous wealth and privilege purely as a result of the family he was born into.

MrJi · 27/10/2022 13:57

Ladytreacle · 27/10/2022 13:04

@MrJi 38 isn't middle-aged.

Well we don’t know how long he will live, and yes he does come from a long lived family. Average lifespan of a British male is 80 though. 38 is only two years off half way through, I would call that early middle age.

You can call it what you want, but by definition it is not middle-aged. He would technically be defined as a ‘young adult’.
