Meghan’s latest Archwell podcast- Paris Hilton

Having started threads on earlier editions of the Archewell podcast, I felt compelled to comment on the latest - an interview with Paris Hilton - on the theme of the Bimbo.

I’ve not listened - but have read a summary - and the premise strikes me as rather hypocritical.
Meghan apparently mentions taking part in a diplomatic motorcade in Argentina during an internship at the Embassy, a role she claims to have received for her intelligence and education, but neglects to mention that her uncle arranged the (very brief) role for her or the small matter of failing the diplomatic exams. The implication seems to be that she should have been destined for a stellar professional career but sabotaged these possibilities by taking on ‘bimbo’ roles in a short-sighted effort to pay the rent.

The truth of the matter is that she may never have succeeded in a more intellectual or professional career and being a ‘bimbo’ actually served her extremely well - after all, she is someone of middling talent and would never have gained the prominence she has, or access to a wealthy husband, without these ‘bimbo’ roles.

In general, one only has to look at Instagram, Only Fans, Sugar Daddy sites to appreciate the true scale of the ‘bimbo’ economy which was Meghan’s natural habitat. It’s not going anywhere- and it’s an amusing conceit to imagine, now that she’s in her 40s and safely married to a rich man, that it was all somehow beneath her all along

Honestly the bar must be so low. What has been distinguished about their public service?

Enough to win some awards?

Like it or not

Fair enough if that's your view but this was a discussion about their credibility. I pointed out that they seem to have credibility with the organisations who've given them awards.

Actually I forgot to mention Time magazine, although that wasn't an award per se.

Coronateachingagain · 24/10/2022 08:52

@Aspiringmatriarch re Oprah, maybe we can do it the other way around and show me hoe Oprah is as "close" to them after the interview as before the interview?

Coronateachingagain · 24/10/2022 08:54

Is the award from the Robert F Kennedy organisation the one they needed to take offline the announcement in social media because of the comments they were receiving?

Why? I don't follow any of them that closely tbh. Were they particularly close before the interview, has there been some sort of public icing out I'm unaware of?

Is it? How appalling if so. What a shame there are so many ignorant trolls online.

You seem to have malfunctioned a bit there Corona. I don't understand all of your post but your comment about Oprah sounds like fantasy to me - unless you have some evidence for that? I think not since they were spotted visiting her house just this summer.

Was that the visit ( photos by Backgrid) when Oprah was out of town as her father had died ?

Croque · 24/10/2022 10:03

How about filming being awarded the polo trophy before the match had even taken place. Nobody would be unreasonable for questioning whether the final result was rigged to keep down filming costs. 😃

🤣 I have no idea - you clearly follow them much more closely than I do. I think that's called being a fan.

But yes I'm sure Oprah regrets doing one of the most-watched interviews in the world. Just like I'm sure the Spotify success is a blip and the awards are nonsense and Time magazine and Invictus and and and...

The photos were online - hard to miss . And they wouldn’t want them missed if they had gone to the bother of tipping off backgrid …

I wasn't aware of any particular backstory, that's all. 🤷🏼‍♀️
You obviously follow things more closely. But I still don't think any evidence has been provided to support the idea that Oprah has frozen them out.

Readinginthesun · 24/10/2022 13:07

No idea about OW other than what I said above .
I find H and M situation quite fascinating. I have a sneaky admiration for M’s absolute self belief but , at the same time , quite horrified by some of the behaviour and lies ( Harry too). I can’t see it ending well.

Aspiringmatriarch · 24/10/2022 16:15

Time will tell I suppose. I don't think they're liars anyway, it's just different perspectives and a bit of PR spin at times.

😆My truth, your truth, their truth blah blah blah

And that's exactly right. Different people will have a different perspective, recollection and understanding of the same situation. This is actually normal, it doesn't mean someone is lying. I wish this was better understood so we could maybe get away from the simplistic 'gotcha' mentality on these threads.

😅😅 didn't k w/o about that one.

As for the RFK award, if it still was awarded, definitely without the initial fanfare. Social media was not favourable on this one, everyone wondering what they had down to deserve it and with reason

Croque · 24/10/2022 19:37

..and the "Don't you know who she is?" incident at Rahul's in New York when she demanded a table without a reservation upon the basis that she was engaged to a prince? She let her representative shout at the front-of-house while she just stood there waiting to get her way. Nice people do not endorse this type of behaviour.

MarshaMelrose · 24/10/2022 19:42

I agree. But I'd think by the time you get to your 40s, you'd know this and so be more cautious with how you speak of incidents.
As I've grown older, I know that most people do not act from a bad place so I try much more to look at and discuss where the misunderstandings came from rather than mouthing off.
It saves a lot of angst and hurt feelings.

Well I wouldn’t call a top 10 podcast “not thriving “. It will probably be renewed. They still have their Netflix deals. They will never be destitute and will certainly afford their energy bills this winter. She looks absolutely stunning in the variety photo shoot.

@MoChridhe " They will never be destitute", a fact that some people like to disregard. They are so keen to see them fail they ignore the obvious, Meghan and Harry are not going to be queuing up for help anytime soon.

Yes, they have their haters and of course the awful vitriolic press coverage, but they chose their path and the life they wanted. That is definitely a win!

Croque · 23/10/2022 17:33

I cannot recall anybody wondering, asking or judging. She brought it up herself, possibly to garner some interest. Even now, interest in her parenting/ American family life is pretty limited because next to nothing is known about the children.

But we as the public clearly have not right to that information!
