Harry and Meghan doing alright in the US, continuing their universal service

Have heard a few comments from panellists and commenters thinking that Harry somehow wants to come back to the UK?

I highly doubt this. I think they are doing more than ok in the US.

A pity a positive thread has been deleted regarding the podcasts, maybe the positive conversation can continue here?

In particularly I wanted to highlight the announcement that they will be recipients for the Robert J Kennedy Human Rights award.

“When The Duke and Duchess accepted our award laureate invitation back in March, we were thrilled. The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world,” Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter, said in a statement shared today. “They embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change.’”

Oh, I forgot to say, she is still an activist and an altruist. In case the paid adds did not hit your Twitter feed. Who likes to wear Caroline Herrera dresses (whether gifted/bought/loaned).

🙄 just an image she wants to project. Never mind the Julia Roberts smiles and giggles. How charming 😬

Coronateachingagain · 23/10/2022 19:09

I give this PR team another six months before the next reshuffle - where is the lady that lasted a year as head of comms now?

ajandjjmum · 23/10/2022 19:09

On the basis that she is free from the restraints of being a member of the RF, and can accept gifts and live life how she chooses, it would be wise for her not to indulge in ridiculous comments like 'little girls see me and think here is a real life Princess'. She is not! She is a real life hypocrite.

Croque · 23/10/2022 19:17

I think it pretty much comes down to the same thing on every count. She married into a class which was completely inaccessible to her and overestimated her ability to integrate. She is now trying out (from afar) different versions of how she thinks it is appropriate for a princess to behave but every single time, it highlights her incapability. There really is no solution to it for as long as she remains this unaware (which could potentially be for a few more years).

It is not especially to do with the fact that she is American as a Normandie Keith or even a Gwyneth Paltrow could have aced the same role. It is the helplessness of being unable to successfully reinvent yourself. You can throw limitless pots of money at it but it wont happen.

notanotheroneagain · 23/10/2022 19:17

She is a real life princess and will remain as such.

Like it or not. As the woman said 'suck it up !'.

'completely inaccessible"?

She married the top of the pyramid !

He 'ability to integrate' ?

Well tough luck for her, cause it looks like her skin colour would never allow this. A pity, because she did work her socks off when she was part of the family, but it was not enough it seems.

She seduced one person of that class with mental vulnerabilities, broke him off the top of the pyramid and trotted off with him back to her own world with his open cheque book at her disposal. She has cherry picked the glamorous bits/potential for celebrity out of all that he represented. It does not show sensitivity to his needs as a complete human being with a close family, past career and friendships.

What a vile comment. How cynical.

Unbelievable

I'm glad I'm not in your head

Why do you spend each and every day of your life on threads writing about a woman who only today you said was ‘clinging on to the mistaken belief that she has anything worthwhile to offer…’? She obviously offers something to you. Also, your opinion of her has no bearing on her life. It may pain you to accept this, but she is still a member of the royal family, her husband is still the son of the current monarch, and she still uses multiple platforms to voice her opinions. She is able to do the latter because there will always be people like you out there ready to lap up her every word. Rather than diminish her, your words simply elevate her because they prove just how relevant she is. Why else would you discuss her each day rather than take on a more productive pursuit?

Best summary I have read so far. Thanks @Croque

Spot on

notanotheroneagain · 23/10/2022 20:08

Still not clear how she 'cherry picked the glamorous side' of things.
You mean like special needs dc/ unemployed women / those affected by loosing families via a massive fire etc.
You mean that kind of thing?

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 23/10/2022 20:26

I think what people (including me) think of the 'glamorous side of things' would include special consideration/invitations to prestigious events due to Harry being the son of the King, freebies sent for personal use, invitations to RF events (as opposed to working royal events, obviously), interest from celebrities - including those who may not have known of M's existence in Suits, access to 'friends' with private jets/yachts/holiday homes. The list is endless for H & M to cherry pick from if they choose, although there will always be those of us who judge. Not that they are aware of our existence - nor care for our views.

The odd appearance at a food bank - always with a photographer in attendance - doesn't correct the balance.

You mean stopping to leave a backpack to the homeless while you do an interview with a journalist, or celebrating Poppy Day by dressing up solemnly and going to some cemetery in the US to lay some flowers with photographers in tow? As if

Absolutely

Readinginthesun · 23/10/2022 21:40

I think the most obvious example of cherry picking events was when Harry allegedly missed a memorial concert marking the 30th anniversary of an IRA bombing which killed 11 Royal Marines to attend the London premier of the Lion King - where he appeared to be touting for work for his wife.

Was that the instance when he got caught on the record saying that they were there to pitch

I think so . Also, wasn’t that the night of the alleged Nelson Mandela comment ?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/10/2022 22:53

Corona reportedly it was Harry who said they could "make themselves available" for voiceover work, and Meghan who chipped in "That's really why we're here - to pitch"

So if they're right it sounds like a joint thing, though as the one with tthe position with the Marines the responsibility for turning them down falls to Harry

MarshaMelrose · 23/10/2022 23:05

where he appeared to be touting for work for his wife.

Well...he didn't appear to. He did.

HeddaGarbled · 23/10/2022 23:24

stopping to leave a backpack to the homeless

Stopping to watch an employee interact with a homeless person on your instructions while you sit in a car showing off to a journalist.

MidnightConstellation · 24/10/2022 04:30

I find the pair of them nauseating and crass.

Roussette · 24/10/2022 07:36

Never mind, I'm sure you'll survive!

LMAO. 😂😂

You just bloody made that up !

Anyway, don't you tedious fantasists have your own thread where you make up shite all the time, why do you have to spill it over here.

You don't want her to take pics, so that you can lie and pretend she did not do these charity things.

Last I checked everyone takes pics, not sure why she is forbidden.
