In preparation for the books release , and with permission from randompenguin , I thought it would be good to start this thread now !

Kris Jenner was known as PMK - pimp mama Kardasian

I’d rather my daughter aspire to be Amanda Gorman than Kim Kardasian

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 13:40

I don’t think anyone wants their daughters to aspire to be any of the kardashians. They’ve had to sell their souls, their relationships and their integrity to stay relevant, rich and famous. Staying relevant isn’t easy, as Meghan and Harry may find out.

Ladytreacle · 12/10/2022 13:42

HannaHanna · 12/10/2022 12:50

I was thinking that also. Or wondering if people aren’t just trying to help drum up interest here.

Are the publishers linked somehow for Courtiers and Harry’s book? (Or perhaps they linked in some other way?)

Interest is already there. People can’t get enough of reading about this royal couple. Newspapers can’t keep up with demand, which encourages them to make up stories simply to get those article clicks. Companies know this and while this ‘fascination’ in the couple continues (and I can’t see it changing anytime soon) they will never be short of lucrative business opportunities, including publishing deals.

I don’t know how much Harry has been paid by Penguin Random House but if it is $20 million, as reported, that is a huge sum. Be under no illusion that this is typical for most writers. It isn’t – not even close. No publisher would invest so heavily if they were not certain (as much as one can be) that they would cover not only the cost of production and marketing but also acquire a healthy net profit. That’s why all of this speculation about the couple – no matter how far-fetched – furthers their cause to be financially independent.

Although I understand that Prince Harry will be donating proceeds to charity. Well, why not? He can most likely afford it.

It has been brought to my attention, that this thread is being mass reported! ,
If it gets deleted some posters will be attributing comments and nasty posts to us all! .
I'm posting this now so if this happens lurkers will not believe the lies !
And Mumsnet please don't delete my thread!
The conversations have been measured and fair on the whole ( apart from a few visiting posters) . It's what they want.

Hopefully mumsnet will feel the thread is fair and keep it.

On what grounds? 🙄

I assume you've been contacted by MNHQ? Did they say what the issue was? Because this seemed to have been jogging along nicely until the other sock puppetry thread was deleted.

jeffgoldblum · 12/10/2022 13:57

@LondonWolf , I'm not sure if your allowed to say this ?
But I reported a nasty post I saw earlier, the reply I received said they were looking at the thread now, not the post but the thread , I've not had that reply before, it ushaly says we're looking at that post now!
I'm may be reading between the lines but I'm confident that I'm not !

It will be a shame if this thread is deleted because of the activities of a few and whoever is doing mass reporting.

It's a funny thing that a particularly distasteful, spiteful rumour-mongering thread started soon after the death of HM The Queen during the period of official mourning was not deleted despite mass reporting. I'm not naming the thread. But I thought defending it was disgraceful.

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 14:02

Don’t worry @jeffgoldblum people can see what’s happening x

You are so right. The interest is there, even from people who don't like them!

I read four "journalists" on Twitter whom I call the Four Horsemen of the Meghanlypse, because their obsession with the woman borders on stalking. One of them, Angela Levin, posted a tweet announcing the King's Coronation date. Big story, you would think. Coronation, wow. One of those once in a lifetime events.

But she made sure to tell people that it would be on little Archie's birthday. Then she adds: "I bet M and H would be keen to come, but will they be invited."

Everything revolves around them, even when they say nothing.

And this is the same Archie in respect of whom just last week, she was retweeting conspiracies that he doesn't exist.

Harry and Meghan are the moment, as the kids say. Tom Bower, Valentine Low, Morgan, Wootton, the Daily Mail, look how much money they have made from writing about them. And all those YouTubers.

The interest in them will never die because it is hate for profit.

It still makes me laugh that the DM has a Prince Harry tag, and a Meghan Markle tag. The only our royals honoured with their own tags are The Queen, and King Charles.

Oh yes, for as long as they make money for lots of people, the interest will never die.

If you read Chris Bouzy on Twitter he has done research showing that a small and relentless group is responsible for the majority of hate posts about her. She has her own bot farm!

I really want Harry to release his memoir partly to enjoy the apoplexy that will engulf the UK media. And Mumsnet 😁

Croque · 12/10/2022 14:11

Well, I hope Random's great insights do not get deleted to cover up the sockpuppet's bullying behaviour.

I'm not up for dealing with large egos with sycophantic contributions which sound like broken records. Why would you insist on telling people what they should be thinking, whether their experience of racism is as valid as your own or whether they can post on a public thread and how many times does the point need to be made?

Strangely enough, it has given me a very live understanding of how those courtiers must have felt.

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 14:13

@Croque
courtiers in any particular house? 😂

Dinoteeth · 12/10/2022 14:14

I just hope Random is OK.
I try not to get involved in the fights amongst other posters but she seemed really upset.

PeekAtYou · 12/10/2022 14:15

It’s great how many headlines are created and discussions being had without anyone seeing a single word from Prince Harry’s forthcoming book. With this level of interest, it’s almost certainly going to be a bestseller if and when published.
His book is up against Michelle Obama's which will reduce sales imo. I don't think it will be a bestseller but he'll make loads from the paper who serialise it. Loads of people will be discussing the book but I can imagine the tabloids racing to report on the content which means there won't be much point in reading it unless you're a fan.

The release date of any publication is always considered by a publisher. They will look to publish at the most opportune time. As of yet I don’t believe there is an actual release date for us to know what the competing publications are.

Indeed.

Everything people think they know when the book is coming out is pure conjecture.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 14:34

I always wonder about serialising a book, does it impact positively or negatively on the book sales, depending on how many revelations end up in the paper, do people think I’ve got all the good stuff, no need to buy. Do papers pay lots to serialise a book.

Cuck00soup · 12/10/2022 14:44

It's publishing season in the run up to Christmas. Personally I'd prefer to read about Michelle as I enjoyed becoming. If someone was buying for their Granny though, I can see that Harry's book might be a consideration.

meercat23 · 12/10/2022 14:45

.

Dinoteeth · 12/10/2022 14:50

I'd rather read about Michelle than Harry too. There can't be much else to hear about Harry.

Serenster · 12/10/2022 14:53

She has her own bot farm!

This, I absolutely believe. 😉

Jibbajabba1 · 12/10/2022 14:54

@Dinoteeth Agree, not much appetite for more of his self-aggrandisement, peppered with his signature perpetual victim motif

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 14:55

I’d far rather read about Michelle too, perhaps that is why the book has been delayed. it wouldn’t compete and couldn’t get the ‘no 1 tag’ if released at the same time as Michelle Obama. She’s also doing a city tour with a Oprah amongst the moderators

Why do I get the feeling the book will be published on May 6th 🤣
