@SammyScrounge

The heart wants, what the heart wants

LondonWolf · 11/10/2022 19:30

She was far too indulgent with poor wee Harry.

I think so too, hence the frantic retreat from hostilities towards Pa and Bro now she's gone. I think they're feeling extremely apprehensive now.

He might reflect also on how his own behaviour has impacted others negatively. Not just how much he has suffered himself and how hard done by he is

If the book ever appears and he does I'll be the first to give him credit for it, but I'd also be amazed. He's a member of the RF, remember, and "blame" appears to be for others to shoulder

I wasn't aware of the book being rewritten because it had too much emphasis on Harry's mental health though - please does anyone have links about this?

It's been fairly widely publicised, including The Times 'Reports have also emerged that Penguin Random House, the publisher, asked for the first draft to be improved and rewritten because it focused too much on mental health.'

Enjoyed your insight into how the world of publishing works @MrsMaxDeWinter - thank you.

@LondonWolf
Ah I see, makes perfect sense when you put it like that

Just come across this.

BadgerB · 11/10/2022 19:44

Harry got her the help she needed outside the institution.

But when Oprah asked him why he didn't help her he squirmed a bit and said something about being ashamed. Why not say "but I did!"

That doesn't fit the primary "WE HAD NOWHERE TO TURN!" narrative.

MidnightConstellation · 11/10/2022 19:46

I don’t actually believe anything they say. It’s all twisted or projections.

Ohnonevermind · 11/10/2022 19:48

I disagree with his conclusion, Meghan can rubbish the royal family, but she can find a positive path out of this - if they want it.

covid has slowed down their plans but also gave them time to reflect. She hasn’t rubbished the royal family in her podcasts, one comment about not signing an NDA seemed to be all in a supporting magazine article

KC will quietly pay for peace. He doesn’t want the start of his reign marred by family fighting
and Meghan wants a political/philanthropic career, a cash injection would be very useful.

Me neither It's all self indulgent drivel. Everybody knows this.

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2022 20:01

I do think they would have been better served to have waited a while to have down the OW interview, but what’s done is done

I don't think they would have done the Oprah interview at that point had their plans to gull bankers with more money than sense on the after dinner circuit not been scuppered by Covid.

They had to do something to upstage the pandemic or face being even more sidelined by it.

Ohnonevermind · 11/10/2022 20:27

@CathyorClaire

i think OW had courted them for a long time,I think it was a launch pad, they were always scheduled to do the interview but were lead (advisors/ow ?) to look backwards with rancour rather than forward with joy

Having escaped nightmare bullying neighbours this summer, I’ve just looked forward not backwards and I’m honestly much happier.

Coucous · 11/10/2022 20:29

Is it possible that the RF - i.e. PC/ KC would have paid them for the book? Depending on what the book may reveal, he may not want it out there.

Ohnonevermind · 11/10/2022 20:31

@Coucous I think at the moment, it would make sense for them all.

Gilmorehill · 11/10/2022 20:34

Jibbajabba1 · 11/10/2022 19:03

‘But if Harry has got her help then why did she go to HR?’

Maybe it was as the couriers claimed in the book, that they were set up and that MM and H had been looking for reasons to leave anyway. Does seem odd to have also approached a HR department when they already had access to the best medical care themselves and Harry had been kind enough to source it for her anyway.

That’s the most plausible explanation.

Can you ever completely bury a book? Maybe best for the RF to get it out there and weather the storm then keep looking over their shoulders.

Croque · 11/10/2022 20:43

Gilmorehill · 11/10/2022 20:34

That’s the most plausible explanation.

By that stage, I reckon that the courtiers may have already twigged that they were being set up to fail (something which was reported as a common belief among staff). Perhaps it was not framed as a sincere request but as an on-the-spot loyalty test by H which he was reportedly carrying out repeatedly. Given the list of bullying allegations against M which they would have already known about, they were right to proceed with caution.

Jibbajabba1 · 11/10/2022 20:46

Loyalty tests! The mind boggles 😂

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2022 20:55

i think OW had courted them for a long time

I think the invitation to the wedding suggests more of a symbiotic relationship. I'm quite sure Oprah was more than happy to accommodate them but I also think they could have named their date at their leisure.

Is it possible that the RF - i.e. PC/ KC would have paid them for the book? Depending on what the book may reveal, he may not want it out there.

I think it's more than possible Charles will bail them out although a second scandal-avoiding payout of millions on behalf of deeply unpopular non-workings is unlikely to play well with the peasants.

RandomPenguinHouse · 11/10/2022 21:01

'Courtiers' does give a feasible explanation for why she went to HR, as PP said.

I think she knew that bullying allegations against her had already started or were going to be made, and MM got in front of that by going to HR herself directly and saying how she felt. Even though she didn't have an employee/employer relationship and therefore HR wasn't appropriate an avenue for MM.

StartupRepair · 11/10/2022 21:44

I think the book contains large sections anti Camilla and Harry is beginning to realise that this may affect his future relationship with Charles. I also think there will be a lot of text about the wonderfulness of Meghan and how his family didn't sufficiently appreciate it.

ShamedBySiri · 11/10/2022 22:22

The post is really rubbish at present and I only received my Private Eye today, that should have arrived last Wednesday.

Someone seems to have leaked the post funeral edit of Harry's book. GrinGrinGrin

😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂

ShamedBySiri · 11/10/2022 22:29

Private Eye has always poked fun at Prince Charles' favourite phrases such as appalling carbuncles.
The King's use of the word "stinking" promises much future amusement. Grin

Funnily enough, thanks to Private Eye I now find myself back on the topic of the thread!
