The last thread filled up during a particularly chatty morning.

What's all that got to do with the thread discussion?

GlorianaCervixia · 01/10/2022 11:03

The singleton is a Jungian archtype? No. That's very silly.

SallyLockheart · 01/10/2022 11:04

and yet Meghan has always implied that she was the only one who got bad press and wasn't protected by the palace.

Croque · 01/10/2022 11:04

😂Oh well, it is her truth about what she believes Jung was banging on about from what she googled, I suppose.

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 11:05

'As we have seen however, this wasn’t something she was particularly interested in doing at all. She in fact valued the opportunity to earn a private income more highly.'

Conjecture; not fact.

Not only is it conjecture, it also does not ring true.

She seemed very interested in what she was doing and her projects we're result driven too. The Smartwork capsule quickly sold out and raised a lot of money for the charity. The same with the Disney VoiceOver, the bakery and the Cookbook. All much needed funds.

And I dare say, for someone there for a short while, she seems to have brought in a lot of revenue for charities that others with years on did not even come close to (instead some were closed/ branches not visited etc.).

I guess it upsets some people, because it made the complacency in others glaringly clear.

SallyLockheart · 01/10/2022 11:05

Jeff. very true. can we get back on track re the book.

Maireas · 01/10/2022 11:05

What dreadful articles from the DM about Kate. Ageist and sexist crap.
No need to go along with it on here, though.
Also it shows that the DM rip loads of women apart, not just Meghan, which adds to how vile it is.

Let’s hope he has enough respect for his wife that he chooses not to adopt misogynistic behaviours.

theres nothing misogynistic at all about telling anyone they rudely dominated a group conversation and made it all about them. That perhaps the next time they’re in company they should give other people a chance to speak.

EdithWeston · 01/10/2022 11:07

It's normal for the eldest son of a Duke (whether Royal or not) to use their father's secondary title - like Dule of Kent's son being Earl of St Andrews

So that title was available for Archie. I think he could also have been Lord, just like Lili could be Lady.

The parents chose not to use those. And it will be the parents' choice whether to use the Prine and Princess to which they are currently entitled. And I think it's up to them when they announce their decision.

GlorianaCervixia · 01/10/2022 11:08

Back on the book: I read the extract about Prince Andrew today and it's convinced me to buy the book. I'm very interested in the experiences of the courtiers who keep the show running and how they're treated, it makes a change from the usual approach to royal books. The story about Andrew was shocking and it made me wonder if the reason the review into bullying wasn't made public was to protect him.

We have a new crop of derailers it seems, boring for those of us just reading, same arguments and quotes, time and time again!
We were talking about the book quotes and now we're back to the ushal guff! 😡

The Times choosing AND the publisher.

Harry and Meghan is topical. The bullying allegations and investigation was recent, comparatively.

It happened to the couriers.

I have said more than once on these threads that I’d love to know what courtiers said about Andrew, but that I know there will be certain topics that can’t be discussed for legal reasons. Not to protect Andrew per se, but because there were legal settlements and court cases and may still be investigations ongoing for all we know.

Comments about the other Royal households, and the working relationships between the courtiers in the various households might be elsewhere in the book?

There must be mechanisms for coordination between them

LondonWolf · 01/10/2022 11:10

Well perhaps but at the same time Harry (and many others around her) do come in for quite a lot of criticism for not providing Meghan with enough guidance in her new role within the BRF.

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 11:12

Wow, I never saw those headlines you linked. Just based my opinion on what I see from her wardrobe, some of which resembles my dm and dm in law.

You used "like a 60 year old" as a criticism, which is ageist, and exactly the language the Daily Mail uses.
You may dislike her outfits, but no need to be like that.

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 11:14

What does Kate's wardrobe have to do with the courtiers book exactly? , you do realise that what your up to is very obvious to posters who are just reading don't you?

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 11:15

Where have all the word-salad posts come from? They’ve well and truly ridden off on the good horse tangent. Utter nonsense - shoe-horning in Jung, posting articles fixating on a woman’s appearance whilst trying to take some type of moral high ground 😂

Anyway, back on topic, yes the reveals about Andrew, awful but not surprising! The way he apparently would go snitching to his mother to get his story in first! And so sad to read about the mental and emotional abuse the courtiers suffered, bullying in the workplace can have such a detrimental effect on mental health. A bit odd Harry talked a lot about mental health in the workplace after behaving like that.

Of course, it’s apparently a big book!

I imagine it covers a lot of ground and personalities.

I think it's strange that people defend one woman by being so prejudiced and using stereotypes against another.
It's a pity.

SallyLockheart · 01/10/2022 11:04

Not true.

In the Oprah Winfrey Meghan actually acknowledges the bad press Kate got, and discusses the horrible Waity Katey label..

But she adds that the difference in her case was the racial undertone to the reporting and commentary.

For what it is worth, @Maireas I agree that the articles about royal wives tend to be misogynistic. And in the case of Meghan, race is an element.

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 11:16

@Maireas , yes indeed!

Rapidtango · 01/10/2022 11:17

notanotheroneagain, SherilynnFine, so it's not just Meghan targeted by the press then......
