Do Camilla and Charles live separately?

She was dropped off in Wiltshire. I was surprised they didn't stay together today.

I'm not hating btw just genuinely curious and I kind of admire her for creating her own space if
It's true.

ALSO, because it's driving me crazy, did Anne and Tim separate briefly back in the nougties?

I'm sure I remember it being announced on Sky, but it was never mentioned again and he seemed to continue accompanying her to Royal engagements.

Even when married to a U.S. citizen, you have to be a Permanent Resident for at least three years, I believe, before you can apply for citizenship yourself. I think it’s five years if you’re not married to a citizen.

@J0y. Thousands of people on work visas and green cards settle in the US and buy houses. I have neighbors who came to the US from India on student visas, then got work permits and are now finally Permanent Residents. I think they’ve lived in the US for nearly 20 years!

Re. Anne and Tim. I can see them having marital problems if he encountered snobbery 20 years ago, but the RF has changed so much since then. Both Anne’s children and all of their cousins have married people who didn’t previously move in royal circles so the snootiness has probably died down since the early noughties.

MarshaMelrose · 16/09/2022 03:55

If he becomes a us citizenship, he'll have to give up being a prince and a Dduke. But Meghan can still keep the titles. How funny.
They'll be Mr Wales and the Duchess.

Cameleongirl · 16/09/2022 03:58

@MarshaMelrose Oh, I’d forgotten about renouncing titles-he’s never going to it then.

It wasn’t something I needed to worry about when I applied. 🤣

I remember reading that Ann and Tim had separated, but thinking it was probably news scandal and gossip, it doesn't seem to have happened officially

If it was reported in the tabloids and then other newspapers using said tabloids as a “source” to add more credibility then it’s pure rumourmongering to get people to read salacious news.

I do find it fascinating how some posters adamantly persist on their narrative when other posters are stating the contrary that Anne and Tim are very much together, in Gatcombe etc.

Instead you’ll find armchair psychologists “detecting” the lack of warmth etc. Speculating in other couple’s living arrangements.

I think it’s quite smart if there is a blended family, to have separate living arrangements for part of the week and then live together in other parts of the week. It gives everyone space and time with their families without foisting this notion of playing “happy families” onto others.

onlythreenow · 16/09/2022 05:20

It's an open secret that Anne still hangs around with her former old flame, Andrew Parker Bowles, maybe as a friend or maybe more.

I still hang around with my ex husband (20 years separated) and always will. Doesn't mean we are having an affair.

MsBucket · 16/09/2022 05:30

@Starmtn77 That’s the thing though. Unless he is actually clueless, he should have known that his children wouldn’t have the HRH title when QE2 was alive. Only the reigning sovereign’s grandchildren can have the title. It was different for William because he’s the eldest son. If Harry was older than William then it would be Harry’s children who would have the HRH title before QE2 passed so that the third in line was not born as a “commoner”. After all, George was the third in line to the throne.

And now that Charles is King, Harry’s children are/were entitled to the HRH title, but I’m not sure now what the process will be because from what I gathered he’s stepped down from his roles.

Also, I’m sure Harry was aware that Charles was very much in favour of slimming down the monarchy so it had nothing to do with playing favourites.

I do think Harry and Meghan can have a better life without the shackles of royal responsibilities because if Harry and Meghan were to be working royals, they would have to follow protocols and be like Anne. It wouldn’t have all been pomp and glamour.

Aren't they now allowing Harry to wear his medals to the funeral. Harry made the others look ridiculous. The one who earned his medals the most in a suit while the others played dress up. They must be raging he will be back in his uniform but anything to keep the people on side and stop them questioning their own status.

@pawkins Who would be raging? I must admit I haven’t been watching the news as much apart from the very first announcement of QE2’s passing.

MsBucket · 16/09/2022 05:40

@Starmtn77 Ah I see. I didn’t really watch Meghan and Harry’s interview. Also, who didn’t take part-time royal kindly? I mean William and Kate lived in Norfolk I believe for a good few years of their married life to have that privacy and have some kind of semblance of a normal married life. I remember it got to a point that some of the press were calling Kate “work-shy” but I’m glad they did that and they were able to just get away from the scrutiny and just have more privacy. I was hoping Harry and Meghan would do the same, hopefully they now can do that in America, but much was made of her “hitting the ground running” and how she couldn’t wait to get started etc.

Camilla often looks petrified. There's a video on her bookclub site where she introduces it and she looks like a rabbit in the headlights, she is just fiddling with her hands. She relaxes when she gets to talk about bookshops.

I agree. But kudos to her for still getting on with it. I could no more speak in public than I could climb a mountain. I’d die of fright.

Andrew fought in the Falklands in a very dangerous role.

Harry did his tours in Afghanistan and did no more than Andrew did. Of course he’s not the most entitled to wear his uniform.

Charles served in the RAF as well as the Navy.

FayeGovan · 16/09/2022 06:28

@NanaNelly , how would you know what Harry did in Afghanistan as opposed to what andrew did? Unless you were there ?

Thought not.

Wow, I didn't know this. Just read up on her, she lived with Philip during the last few years of his life too, while the Queen lived elsewhere. What an odd arrangement.

There’s a very long history between the two families going back generations It’s not a relationship that’s been borne of PB being a friend and companion of PP (she is also very close to HM).

Don't be ridiculous.

The man is awful but nothing he’s since done can take away from the role he played in the Falklands being very real and very dangerous.

Sure it was

i dont think Lady diana ended up with mental health problems, i am sure they must have been dormant since childhood.

Um, they’re bankrolled by the tax payer so yes it is our business!

Why? It is not my business how they live their private lives even if they are. Not my business if they sleep together

What do you mean let them come back?, they decided to leave and left. Charles has said he loves them and wishes then well while they build their life abroad.

H&M wanted a part-time role, so they could pursue commercial interests. The RF have been stung before with members (Sophie and Edward) trying to trade of Royal links so said part-time wasn't an option.

I've never in all my life (in terms of what I read in books, at least!) been so disappointed as I was with that revelation. I always thought she based him on Rupert Chawner-Brooke. Even the initials are the same, and the extant photos of Brooke bear a striking similarity with the physical descriptions of Black given in the novel. He was a very attractive, charismatic man who by all accounts also had quite a way with women.

When she claimed to have based that protagonist on Parker-Bowles my jaw - and all my old teenage dreams - couldn't have hit the deck faster. Instant turnoff, I've never viewed those books in the same way since ...

Never heard of Rupert Chawner Brown so just looked him up - debonair, good looking chap.

This I think is the case.

I remember it as Tim L was supposed to be coming to an event I was organising (in his work capacity rather than as a “royal”) and we heard to chat about the marriage and wondered if he would actually turn up. He did and was exceptionally polite, very knowledgeable and very happy to chat to people. There was no press there and it was an industry thing so no one asked about the newspaper reports.

i’m not a royal follower so I was surprised a few years later to see they were still together and had not actually spirit up.

DashboardConfessional · 16/09/2022 07:30

I quite often walk past her place in Wiltshire. I was chatting to her neighbour once and he's not seen her for some years but he says she used to be out and about in the village and is very normal.
