Can I track the flight?

I've had a look on flight radar but can't see the Queen's flight. Does anyone know?

Flightradar I mean Blush

SpinCityBlues · 13/09/2022 17:48

It's a free country <shrugs> and some people like flight tracking. I watched Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe's flight come in very late one night - is that all right?

SpinCityBlues · 13/09/2022 17:49

It's actually pretty interesting to see which flights are the 'most watched' and try to work out why.

DickDarstedly · 13/09/2022 17:52

@crosbystillsandmash lots and lots of people have flight tracker apps and track flights for fun. Ever since I’ve been on MN there have been threads cropping up often about random flights that people are tracking out of curiosity. Sometimes it’s a notable flight eg. When Nazanin Zagari Radcliffe came back to the U.K. thousands tracked her flight and there was a live commentary thread on here. I track DH and DCs flights when they travel. It’s a thing.

The country has lost the plot!!

Why on earth would you want to do this?!

I honestly despair. A women interviewed on the radio earlier, had woken her kids up in the middle of the night, taken them both to see the coffin before dropping them both at school.
The presenter asked the youngest what it had meant to her and her reply? 'I don't know, I didn't really know her'
Finally someone talking sense!

The country has NOT lost the plot. Don't be so rude. People want to pay their respects to our Queen, for everything she's done for our country (& the commonwealth/the world) if you can't respect that, the least you could you do is keep quiet.

those children might not appreciate it now, but whether you appreciate it or not, it's a HUGE moment in history & hopefully in time they will appreciate their mum taking them there.

FlightRadar24 website has crashed.

Loads of people use Flightradar all the time. Stands to reason they'd watch this one. Although it is being very glitchy at the moment.

So if you are underneath the flight path, you know when to look up

I'm not (in London but not the right bit) but if I was, I'd be looking skywards - I expect many people in Dumfries will be doing that right now

Tal12 · 13/09/2022 17:58

It was on there! I watched it take off on flight radar. Can’t get back on, it’s crashed !!!

MissyB1 · 13/09/2022 17:59

Ds is tracking it now he’s a total plane geek! He’s using flight radar 24.

MissyB1 · 13/09/2022 18:00

Ds says it hasn’t crashed but you may get put in “the waiting room” for a few minutes.

wohmum · 13/09/2022 18:01

its still there. Flight radar struggling with too many people trying to access it

crosbystillsandmash · 13/09/2022 18:03

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination

Please don't tell me to be quiet. You do realise that freedom of speech is allowed?

And my god I felt embarrassed for the parents of the girl speaking on the radio. Thank goodness she had a grip on reality.

I absolutely hate everything the royal family stand for and unlike many of the 'grief tourists' out there, my principles will not change, whatever the circumstances.

I'm absolutely sickened to read that so many peoples funerals have been cancelled on Monday.
Why should the Queen’s life be anymore important than anyone else who was due to be laid to rest on the 19th?

Iusedtobecarmen · 13/09/2022 18:13

Stupid question
Could I actually see it in the sky ,and if so, what is the flight path?

It's pretty much a straight line from Edinburgh to Northolt which is just to the west of London.

sidewayswalking · 13/09/2022 18:17

It doesn't fly in a straight line. But yes if there is no cloud and it goes over/near you, you could see it at 23,000 feet. It would just be like any other high aircraft though, just a dot in the sky.

LIZS · 13/09/2022 18:18

It is coming down to the west side of country, currently near Manchester. It would be visible if there was not low cloud in the south.

That's what I thought. Thanks

Longdistance · 13/09/2022 18:21

I’m also on the plane finder app. It notes it as RAF.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/09/2022 18:21

Flight Radar have posted that six million people were trying to track the flight. That’s why they briefly crashed.

They started a page on You Tube to watch there instead.

SquirmOfEels · 13/09/2022 18:22

It's over Manchester at the moment

Then over the Peak District - over Ashbourne (which is between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby, then Swadlingcote, Hinckley, the eastern side of Rugby, east of Daventry, Towcester, Tring, east of Chesham, Chorleywood, Hillingdon/Northolt

Change123today · 13/09/2022 18:24

a straight flight path between the two but it seems to have gone via Glasgow then Manchester :) On it’s way seemingly over Birmingham.

That's the standard routing for flights.

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 13/09/2022 18:30

Are they purposefully flying over some of the large cities? Over Birmingham now.

toomuchlaundry · 13/09/2022 18:33

@crosbystillsandmash if you hate the RF so much why come on a thread about asking to track the flight?

People track Santa at least this is a real flight!

SquirmOfEels · 13/09/2022 18:33

Yes, the predicted route is being modified, and has gone slightly to the west of what was showing ten mins ago.

Now over Kenilworth, and taking a course just to the east of the M40
