I hope Camilla has changed into some flats!

It would be nice if this was the funeral. Apart from the Queen having to sit by herself I thought Prince Philip's funeral was a lovely ceremony. Much more personal

Well done bearer party. Breathe easy now.

they have a day to recover before they have to do it again

Mooserp · 12/09/2022 15:36

well that was rather lovely

derxa · 12/09/2022 15:36

It's Oor Nicola now

She nearly fell off that shoogly step.

About the procession: 1. how much must the royals calves be aching after taking such small slow steps for a relatively long distance? Even the soldiers wouldn't be particularly used to it! 2. how tense was it at Holyrood when the hearse was manoeuvring in the semi circle and those soldiers were SO close to the wheels and 3. how hard it must have been to keep those police horses in a collected walk for such a long time in such crowds when they are more used to walking out at their own pace along the streets. I'm not surprised the one at front was getting a bit unsettled - kudos to the rider for keeping it under control.

As bad as it sounds I'm glad she died in Scotland, our country would never have seen any of this if she had passed in England. We have done her proud I think.

I think she planned it. And I think it was pretty clever of her to do that actually

ApolloandDaphne · 12/09/2022 15:38

Sounds like she is doing one of her Covid announcements.

moneybeingwasted · 12/09/2022 15:38

I am English but I am so glad she died in Scotland. Balmoral was one of her favourite places and the Scots have really given the Queen a beautiful send off from their beautiful country 💕

I think so too

We watched a film re Queen (Mirren one) and there’s some beautiful scenery from Balmoral it felt prescient

toomuchlaundry · 12/09/2022 15:39

Bet Boris is annoyed that she got to be part of the funeral ceremony

Grin To be fair to her she's making a good fist of it. She's had a lot to do in the past few days

I think she'd made arrangements to be brought to Scotland in the event of her death elsewhere. It would have followed the exact pattern. She loved Scotland, I think that was where she was happiest and where her heart was. Scotland has really shown how much they loved and respected her. I hope we in England can rise up to the high bar you've set.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 15:40

scotland must be so proud, so very proud

TrashyPanda · 12/09/2022 15:41

This all feels so very personal.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 15:41

camilla is wearing a large hat

i am concerned about Lady Sarah Chatto,
she was close to the queen but as her neice has not put in an appearance, i spose that is better for her.

Grin Do you think Jason or Jeane will turn up and read a lesson?

bbcdefg · 12/09/2022 15:42

I have watched loads of it and been fine. But this service has the tears tripping me.

We've done her proud.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 12/09/2022 15:42

Today she is (was) very much Queen of Scotland.

This quiet emphasis is very much like her.

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2022 15:42

The woman second from left has lovely hair,

I imagine they will refresh them as required. Maybe they brought a lot with them from Balmoral to remake them. I would think in London she will have flowers from the estates down there.

I heard this being discussed on the radio yesterday - the florist who does the Balmoral flowers when she was in residence was actually there when she died so she has done the wreaths. All of the flowers on the original wreath were from the Queens garden at Balmoral. which the queen loved, and included herbs like mint. The same florist was making the wreath for the service today and had brought with her some of the flowers from Balmoral, including some dried white heather. So very personal really.

uhtredbebbanburg · 12/09/2022 15:44

Agree with PPs. Scotland had done her so proud. It’s given us an opportunity to show our respect in a way we never could have if she died in England. I watched her come to Edinburgh yesterday and planning to go to St Giles tonight.

Rowgtfc72 · 12/09/2022 15:44

Was thinking that myself. If the Queen had died in London we'd have seen none of this. This has been lovely and well done and respectful.
Agree with a previous poster, it would be nicer if this was the actual funeral rather than all the pomp and circumstance coming next week.

I too think the queen planned this. She was a canny lass.

UrsulaPandress · 12/09/2022 15:46

Her dying in Scotland has given us double ceremony. It’s wonderful.

And please don’t feel sorry for the horse. It’s just being a twat. The rider will be exhausted but I hope she’s taken if for a good hard trot round the backstreets.
