I hope Camilla has changed into some flats!

The Horse Guards are seriously impressive.

Do we know which Royals are taking turns?

I think Fergie knows she'd get criticised if she went as she always does no matter what.

Good point. With everyone being there, I was thinking of who wasn't. I can't see anyone younger than Viscount Severn being at the funeral.

I think some of the older great-grandchildren will be there.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/09/2022 15:27

At least they get a lift back.

Benefi · 14/09/2022 15:27

This must nerve-wracking for new members such as the Yorks' spouses.

toomuchlaundry · 14/09/2022 15:28

Hope he can have a rest now

travellingfamily · 14/09/2022 15:28

Sky said the guard changes every 20 mins. Presumably the company (is that the right term?) that is doing it every 6 hours.

Ah, that makes much more sense!

Thats what I heard as well. Which would make sense as staying in that position would be impossible for 6 hours straight.

MarshaBradyo · 14/09/2022 15:29

That was very well done and beautiful, I just switched on to have a quick look but glad I saw it now

Thank god for that, i was seriously concerned there

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2022 15:31

Surprised Charles always leaves his car window open.

toomuchlaundry · 14/09/2022 15:33

If the cameras stay long enough in the hall we will see a changeover

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 15:35

I'm wondering when they'll put the orb and sceptre on the coffin, they are meant to be there and there looks like space left for them; before the public come in?

ApolloandDaphne · 14/09/2022 15:40

What are they waiting for?

Rowgtfc72 · 14/09/2022 15:42

I think the the royal children looked so sad.
That's it now, they've handed their mum over to the general public.
Thankfully, She'll be public property for the last time.

ItsRainingPens · 14/09/2022 15:43

ApolloandDaphne · 14/09/2022 15:40

What are they waiting for?

I think they are doing the first 20-minute stint.

The Hall is due to close for about an hour. I guess that's when they'll place the orb and sceptre

toomuchlaundry · 14/09/2022 15:43

I guess they all do the first vigil

Benefi · 14/09/2022 15:44

Some of the politicians not enjoying this watch.

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2022 15:45

What are the sirens for?

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 15:48

Slight digression but is it true Archbishop Welby has been handing out free pizza to the queue?

MrsAvocet · 14/09/2022 15:52

I found today quite moving and I wouldn't say I am particularly patriotic/royalist. But it's been beautifully orchestrated and there is something wonderful about the way these ancient ceremonies and traditions are maintained yet with a degree of modernity.
I liked the fact that the officer in charge of the gun carriage, the only officer on horseback I think, was female. I think the Queen would have approved of that. In fact the increased female presence in many ways is significant I think - a female Prime Minister, female Black Rod, female troops in the parade etc, even Princess Anne walking and taking an equal part in the vigil with her brothers would have all been completely inconceivable when the Queen came to the throne. We're long way from equality still of course, but it's significant to see those changes all the same.

Very much agree. The splendour and traditions go on but become more inclusive.

Did one of the commentators just whisper "oh dear"?

I heard that too but couldn't see anything to cause it.

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2022 15:57

That man walking on the sloped roof beside Lambeth Bridge obviously doesn't suffer from vertigo Shock

PAFMO · 14/09/2022 16:24

That was magnificent.
