I've seen a clip on Instagram where a group of women completely blanked MM when she spoke to them. It was awful to watch.
I feel so sorry for her, she didn't deserve that at all.
I saw another clip where someone had asked her for a hug, she obliged and when they hugged she really held the member of public and closed her eyes, it looked as if she really needed that hug .
No wonder she ran away from the UK

There's always an excuse for Meghan though. Anyone else messes up or is even just accused of messing up and it's because they're racist/attacking/bullying/abusive.

You're right. I think Harry would do her a kindness by explaining things more clearly.

Roussette · 12/09/2022 18:39

If someone says they aren't racist - that's it: take their word for it

Absolutely not. I have seen and heard it all before, and it affects my family.

Diverseopinions · 12/09/2022 18:41

H and M were doing well on their South African tour, and then it's "Poor me, poor me, nobody has asked how I am. I need to thrive. It's not enough to just survive" when they've just visited poor girls learning self-defence skills to fight off rapists, and moving past citizens who are barely surviving.

You couldn't fucking make it up. Selfish and self-centred doesn't come into it - the pair of them. They've got no delicacy, blatantly using their royal position to bag publishing deals which involve dishing the dirt on their famiy. It's not surprising that not everyone is their fan. Why don't they sell their mansion and give the money to the needy and live in just an ordinary house. If they stopped carving a high profile by critisizing their family, they wouldn't need a big security detail and could live simply and spend their time doing something worthwhile.

What is also obvious from this week's events is that if they had wanted to stay as working royals, the royal family would have accommodated them. They've been accommodated and included this week, and that's after all that they have said.

I can't believe the post.

It's always 'I'm not racist but I think..... blah blah blah'

As if.

I don't read all the press, but why are ordinary people being told they're racist: 'don't deny it, etc.' as if they are all newspaper magnets and journalists? What's the assumption, that everyone has got one brain between them? The press is the press. They don't act and speak for everyone.

If someone says they aren't racist - that's it: take their word for it.

Agree. I'm disgusted at how acceptable it has become to reframe disagreement or differing opinions using such a serious and character assassinating accusation, usually based on no evidence whatsoever other than the accuser's "opinion".

Rubbish she's done Royal visits where she had to give flowers to aides. She knew the drill

This is different, this was a tribute to a dead Queen. Maybe she wanted to lay them herself. Note she only gave the flowers to the aide when she was given another big bunch of flowers, at that point she probably realised she can't meet and greet people with lots of flowers.

Treating this like a crime is yet another micro-aggression against Meghan.

derxa · 12/09/2022 18:46

Roussette · 12/09/2022 18:34

Does it really really matter whether she handed the flowers over or not? I can't believe people are stressing about this... I've watched the close up footage a number of times, and there was nothing wrong with it, but I suppose if you are looking to find fault, you will find it.

If it wasn't the flowers, it would be something else. There will always be a stick to beat Meghan with.

But what was she going to do with the blooming flowers? Walk quite a distance and place them on the pile? Take them home? All she needed to do was do the same as everybody else.

LondonWolf · 12/09/2022 18:46

Indeed! Where is the praise or acknowledgement for the repeated olive branches extended by the BRF towards H&M this week?

Incredible, isn't it? And the silence from most other posters is incredible too.

So glad you have posted.

Prescottdanni123 · 12/09/2022 18:47

She has told so many truths that have been proven to be lies, how can we believe her stories about bullying?

So many British people were willing to welcome her with open arms, but she snubbed us, ran off to the US and then slagged us off. British people do not put up with that kind of shit. Not to mention all the stress she put the Queen and Prince Phillip through.

If I'd been there, I would have shook hands with her, just because to do otherwise makes you look just as petty, but I'd have been inwardly gritting my teeth.

I just cannot believe criticising her for this. If Kate kept the flowers, it would be absolutely fine.

Rafferty10 · 12/09/2022 18:49

Meghan deserves to be blanked after her appalling behaviour.

I could not bring myself to speak to her after the rude and hurtful public airing of all her supposed issues with the Royal family.

Rude disrespectful and self obsessed, l wish she would go and stay in California and was never heard from again.

The important people here were William and Harry who have lost their granny. They weren't making grand gestures

Diverseopinions · 12/09/2022 18:50

Well, it has to work both ways. If a black person says "I know what is racist and you don't, you have to listen to me", as is said on this forum, then a white person can say : "I know what I think and feel". A white person can say what they are thinking because they actually know! They can't tell you what you are thinking, just like you can't tell them what they are thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are getting into the territory of telling people they are untruthful, then don't go there, because it is not in the spirit of debate and forums like this are supposed to be for trying to learn from each other and to widen one's own perspective by synthesising other views. You have to be open minded to do that. It also helps if you actually hold the aspiration to improve understanding: LOL!!!!!

LondonWolf · 12/09/2022 18:50

No it wouldn't, because it's not what the plan was. Why should Meghan just get to change the carefully planned event and refuse to co-operate when politely reminded or nudged? Why should she have preferential treatment? Why should it be changed to accommodate ONE member of the party's whim?

Yep. I've seen it with regards to one of my DCs ... her partner of 10 years. Obvious, very.
Don't want to say more, bit identifying.

Smile to you

Indeed. It is, after all, their Lived Experience is it not?

NotABeliever · 12/09/2022 18:51

I kept an open mind on Meghan Markle up until the latest interview/podcast.

You can't say on national TV that your husband's family is racist and that they ignored you when you were suicidal and that you had to give up your passport to comply with the rules as if they were some sort of cult and then turn up at their door and expect a warm welcome.

I don't care if what she said is true or not. You just don't do that if you want your husband to still have a relationship with his father and brother.

Surely there must be an element of truth but we're definitely not hearing the whole story. We'll never know Royal Family's side of the story because they can't respond to her accusations.

I'm sorry but she comes across as the biggest hypocrite. Perhaps she was bored of royal duties and wanted a way out. Perhaps she was depressed because she couldn't envision that life for herself forever. That's fine. Leave if you must. Give an interview if you must but keep the incendiary comments to yourself if you care about your husband's relationship with his close family.

Just my opinion

All over a bunch of flowers.

Incredible.

You are talking like the whole walkabout was a complete mess because she hung on to some flowers for a short while.

derxa · 12/09/2022 18:52

If Kate kept the flowers, it would be absolutely fine. It absolutely would not be fine if Kate kept the flowers. It would have been ridiculous.

I am not. I am clarifying what actually happened. Please do feel free to quote where I have suggested anything remotely like "the whole walkabout was a complete mess"...

No one would know about this if it wasn't for the media hanging Meghan out to dry.

Now it's a huge diplomatic incident.

I'd love you to see you criticising Kate for this.

Prescottdanni123 · 12/09/2022 18:55

@Roussette

What's ridiculous is that my two best friends, both of whom are black have criticized Meghan online and been accused of being racist.

Some people just don't approve of her behaviour and the way that she has treated the royal family.

Yes there are racist people in UK unfortunately. There are racist people in every country. The racist people in the UK won't like MM. But the vast majority of people who don't like her because of her actions over the last few years. You just have to watch scenes from H&M's wedding to see that there were plenty of people willing to welcome her with open arms.

Roussette · 12/09/2022 18:56

Because of your post at 18.50 LW

It makes it sound really important and an awful thing to do. No one would know about it if it wasn't for the press poking about to find something to criticise.

It's a nothing. It didn't matter. The walkabout was great and it was good to see.
