Was Prince William's statement digs at Prince Harry?

I really loved Prince William's statement and tribute to the Queen. However it did highlight the difference in his relationships with close family members, and his life going forwards compared to Harry. A friend said to me they thought it seemed like a series of digs at Harry and reading again I'm wondering if anyone would agree?

(I'm paraphrasing slightly but these are the comments that highlight Harry's new life.)

^"The world lost an extraordinary leader who's commitment to the country... was absolute."

"My wife has had twenty years of her guidance."

"My three children have got to spend holidays with her and make memories that will last their whole lives."

"I thank her... for providing an example of service and dignity in public life."

"I will honour her memory.. by supporting my father The King in every way I can."^

This was the majority of his statement and it would be impossible for Harry and Meghan to share similar sentiments now. Does anyone think this was intentional or just the reality of their situation?

What’s the problem with his statement. Everything he says is true - and sincere.
His brother could not say likewise.

IcedPurple · 12/09/2022 10:09

Did you think this topic was so exciting you had to make three threads about it?

Cam22 · 12/09/2022 10:10

Correction:

“What’s the problem with his statement?”

Mabelstearooms · 12/09/2022 10:18

Not everything links back to or is a dig at H&M 🙄

NC12345665 · 12/09/2022 10:19

Not coming back to your threads, op? 🤔

I wish that when the four of them walked along that Kate put her arm through Meghan's and was friendly towards her and that Will put his arm around Harry. Those two things would end all this speculation about bad feeling.

Wtf?

why do view H&M as little children who must be placated, cosseted and coddled?
they decided to walk away
they decided to do a “tell all” book and that Oprah interview.
their behaviour has been awful.

why don’t you wish that H&M made the first move, as the beginning of an apology for their behaviour?

The Prince and Princess of Wales are never going to feel they can trust H&M because of the way they behave.

LePigeon · 12/09/2022 10:28

I reckon this thread is a wind-up just to start another H and M argument, as these types of threads have been very popular on here the past few days.

You need to be a huge elastic band to make such a ridiculous stretch.

This!

Fladdermus · 12/09/2022 09:58

Is that you Meghan? Not everything is about Harry. The digs you see are a figment of your own messed up imagination.

Grow the fuck up its comments like this that incite this nonsense 🙄

FictionalCharacter · 12/09/2022 10:54

None of that looks the tiniest bit like a dig at anyone! It’s about his grandmother and his family, ie his wife and children.
This is all ridiculous. I’m sure if he randomly sang Happy Birthday someone would say it was a dig at H&M because he didn’t sing Happy Birthday on their birthdays. Or something.

DSGR · 12/09/2022 10:56

Didn’t see it as a dig at all

x2boys · 12/09/2022 10:58

As much as people seem to want Harry and Meghan to be irrelevant, the amount of Bull shit spouted on here and in the media about ,means they ain't going no where fast .

InsertPunHere · 12/09/2022 11:00

Of course it wasn't, don't be daft.

Meanderings · 12/09/2022 11:47

I felt that it was, same with the Philip tribute, a couple of royal reporters pointed it out as well, back then.

It's bloody tenuous to see his statement as dig at H and M.
William spoke for his family and referenced his grandmother's impact on their lives. What else would he do? What would you like him to have done differently?
When I spoke about my parents at their funerals I talked about their role in mine and dd's lives. My brother's did the same. Different experiences because we are 3 different people and 3 different families. No one felt they were being got at because the experiences were different.

I'd say it's the behaviour of Meghan and Harry that incites this nonsense.

'Grow the fuck up' says the person swearing at strangers on the internet.

RaRaRaspoutine · 12/09/2022 12:03

You people love the drama don't you?! Not everything is doublespeak.

Wheresthebeach · 12/09/2022 12:06

Seriously everything isn’t about H&M

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2022 12:09

This is a genuine question: why do you care? I mean really, I’m intrigued, what is it about this story that draws you in, interests you?

SpinCityBlues · 12/09/2022 12:11

I think it was a reflection of the reality of his situation (and his family’s). He is the heir, no-one else.

Life is different for William. Always has been and always will.

He was doing what his father did - stressing that hereditary connection with HMQ. Stability and service highlighted, down one bloodline.

Viviennemary · 12/09/2022 12:11

Without doing their duty to the country the monarchy is meaningless. Thats what I take from Williams statement.

Yes, precisely.

maranella · 12/09/2022 12:17

YABU. None of it is a dig at Harry and I'm tired of how everything is about him all the time, when actually, most things aren't any more. William is the heir apparent and his job is to support his father, until it's his turn. William and Kate are on their own journey to be King and Queen and obviously the example set by the Queen has been incredibly valuable to them.

SpinCityBlues · 12/09/2022 12:20

Also, it will have been identified long ago by the RF that this moment is a risk to the monarchy (growth in republican sentiment after HMQ’s departure) so they are stressing ONE bloodline, life of service, stable monarchy.
