Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

once again a thread full of people finding fault with MM. I have never listened to a podcast so can't judge or compare. but why do people listen just to slag her off. why are people so interested in someone they dislike so much.
i detest Frankie boil, so guess what I avoid him. I don't seek him out to slag him off.

I don't think they do listen to the podcast. A couple on here have said they have for 10 minutes but got bored. It's just the fact she's done one. They want to muzzle her so she never speaks again.

They're too busy finding ways to disprove the fact she's at No.1 on podcast lists in many countries, that takes time! It can't possibly be true that there are people out there who actually like the podcast, the figures must be wrong!

I agree on the disliking certain famous people. I avoid threads on anyone I am not keen on, like the plague.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/08/2022 11:42

Upsetting and insulting the RF, the Australians who hosted them ...

What are they supposed to have done to upset the Australians?

I thought that was one tour that was said to have gone really well, and certainly don't recall any silly "Look at me" interviews?

AlexandriasWindmill · 26/08/2022 11:46

This thread isn't all negative but pretending it is prolongs the 'argument' aspect. All the threads keep H&M relevant. Without them, they can't maintain their profile or earn money. Sometimes it feels as though all H&M duscussions are Russian bots arguing with Sunshine Sachs' ones.

If you whispered H&M in a forest at midnight, certain MN posters from both sides would appear to argue about them. 😄 You can only conclude their all-consuming positions aren't genuine.

Serenster · 26/08/2022 11:56

They want to muzzle her so she never speaks again.

Firstly, the hyperbole and emotive language is completely unwarranted. You sound a lot like Meghan herself there! 😀

Secondly, why would “they” want to stop Meghan speaking? I would imagine its more likely that “they” feel that the more she speaks, the more she demonstrates they are right in their opinions of her?

(You can’t complain people’s opinions about her are warped by reading biased media coverage when it’s her own words, own production, own project and own stories we’re discussing).

Funny then... that she is getting a lot of praise for her podcast and very many people are looking forward to the rest of them.

There's a lot of anger about her when she speaks, as you well know. And how many posts have I seen saying I wish she'd shut up, I wish she'd stop spouting stuff, I wish she'd just go away....
I couldn't tell you how many. A lot, it's a common theme.

susan12345678 · 26/08/2022 12:01

if she wanted to talk about ambition, perhaps she could have talked about her peers and the pressures of plastic surgery, casting couch pressures and how to keep going when audition doors are repeatedly slammed in your face. her ambition was a strength there although she had mediocre success (but she’s a mediocre actress). That would have been an honest discussion of ambition
Instead we had the flipping p&g letter and how mean the royal family were

Must admit, my heart sank when I read that she was talking about the P&G letter again. It's really been done to death by now. I'd like to see her prove the critics wrong and offer some genuine insights - and genuine vulnerability, which is not the same thing as victimhood. So far, it all seems rather Goop. But as some say, if the intended audience is US/ Californian, it's probably appropriate for that audience & may do well there. You can't please everyone.

I listened to just over half and had to switch off. It's a huge shame that it is rambling, poorly researched and lacking in providing any meaningful context around the fight for equality, the use of language, the ignoring of women in history etc even though it was about ambition and how women are viewed it really didn't have a clear message or understanding. MM would do well to study at a university with a good solid reputation around sociology, women's studies and perhaps some law for context. She will then have more of an understanding and depth to what she is trying to say. It was disappointing as she now has the platform but is currently lacking the ability to put the message across in any meaningful way.

This is like Brooklyn Beckham calling himself a chef and getting TV cooking slots in the states and making You Tube videos

He has no talent, skill or experience in this area but has leapt over the heads of more qualified people by virtue of his connections.

Brooklyn also thinks we the public can learn from his insights (did you know that he’s invented the joining of surnames to create a double barrel name🤣)

I hope that MM learns from the first podcast, because ‘I’ should not be the most used word - it’s journalism/public speaking 101 and what were the editors at Spotify doing

Roussette · 26/08/2022 12:48

I'm just curious why posters have said it's all Meghan, Meghan, Meghan.
That really is not the case. Meghan tops and tails it, but the bulk of it is all about Serena and her talking, with Meghan asking the odd question here and there. I love Serena so I enjoyed it... hearing what being a Mom means to her was great.

Also... I hope everyone is pleased that she didn't use her title.
It's just 'Meghan' on the podcast.

Given how much it angers some that she has a title, or has used it ever, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this.

Ohnonevermind · 26/08/2022 12:55

@Roussette

Meghan talks far more than Serena - about 65% (2/3rds) of the time so hardly the ‘odd question’ 🤣🤣

Totally disagree. I would love someone to analyse it. I have listened to it all the way through. There is, for instance, a 20 minute period where it was just about only Serena talking.

Have you got proof of your figures? Oh... and I'll add a couple of 🤣🤣 to match yours!

MaulPerton · 26/08/2022 13:01

The above point answers the posters who are wondering why we are here discussing the podcast - whole societies end up listening to and being influenced by unqualified people - singers, actors, general celebs., etc.. It's an important consideration.

storage.googleapis.com/pr-newsroom-wp/1/2022/03/FINAL_-Ambition-x-Archetypes_-Script_8.22-1.pdf

here’s the transcript, it’s 61% Meghan.

LondonWolf · 26/08/2022 13:06

Also...I hope everyone is pleased that she didn't use her title.
It's just 'Meghan' on the podcast

I did notice but not pleased as such. I just think it's more authentic given her repeatedly expressed distress and resistance around so much of anything related to her time with the BRF.

Roussette · 26/08/2022 13:07

Where did you get the figure 61% from?

Ohnonevermind · 26/08/2022 13:11

@MaulPerton

i remember being horrified by the anti -intellectualism touted by Donald Trump, where he was the expert in everything

this is no different. People who have spent their careers looking, analysing and trying to educate on these these issues must be tearing their hair out

Xenia · 26/08/2022 13:15

She is free to say what she likes but generally there is a bit more of the person being interviewed and less of the interviewer than is there.

Some people were not happy she called the High Commissioner's residence where they were very kindly allowed to stay a "housing unit". It is a slightly strange phrase to use for the luxury huge mansion.

"And the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit that they had had us staying in."

This was a link to the transcript from an article. It wasn’t very complimentary of the podcast. But feel free to count the words of you want.

You might also want the times Meghan says I too

BlueRidge · 26/08/2022 13:19

I thought someone posted earlier that it HAD been counted?

Serenster · 26/08/2022 13:21

It was Australian journalist Daniela Elsner (who regularly published articles about all the royals) who published both the link to the transcript and the outcome of her word count.

No thanks. I'm not that obsessed by how many times Meghan opened her mouth. Whatever the percentage is Shock I felt it flowed.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and it's the content that matters to me, not how many times an individual speaks.

Roussette · 26/08/2022 13:26

This thread is laughable. No one actually listening to what's been said but beyond obsessed about how much Meghan opened her mouth or said the word 'I' and delighted when they can catch me out with percentages and word counts when I just don't care!

I felt it flowed. You can tell they're friends. I love Serena and enjoyed listening to her.
That's it for me.

Ohnonevermind · 26/08/2022 13:27

There’s an article above which has done all the counting for you

But feel free to deny the facts and follow ‘your truth’ that Serena did most of the talking

Ohnonevermind · 26/08/2022 13:28

@Roussette

By your logic - Trump was right to think he’d won the election
