I could be rude to you too with your continual harping on about this. But I won't.

😁 but you're the only one bringing it up. How many times? I'll leave it to you to go back and count! I am, as I said, more than happy to agree to disagree.

i see the that Jessica Mulroney was sent to intervene and pressure people who were critical of MM (Adrian singleton/Gina Nelthorpe Cowne) to withdraw or change their statements.
I wonder who they’re using now ?

I was surprised at how little was written about Jessica Mulroney, as she seemed to be very close to Meghan in th early days. I wonder if she was one of the anonymous sources.

As far as we are all arare meghan did say from her own mouth that Kate was upset about something, could that upset be meghan and her friend saying Charlotte was chubby?
Look at the pictures of the kids, charlotte's dress looks wonky and not sitting right, whereas her friends kids dress is sitting how it should. That's not nice to do that to kids or have them in bare feet in new shoes where they will rub at their heels. So I'm thinking it is true, sorry guys. Dunno bout rest of book or anything else as don't care much for the woman or what she does but ganging up on someone else and hurting little kiddies feet then yeah I've an opinion

Yes the bare feet thing has always made me a bit 🤔. I wouldn't have wanted my children feet in shoes without socks/tights. So uncomfortable. I hate it myself so I wouldn't have wanted them to have to do it.

I am not the one throwing insults at you. It's the other way round.

Agree to disagree yes. And I shall use capitals when I want.

Ohnonevermind · 23/07/2022 10:08

@Roussette

But Meghan herself said she was 13 on Oprah when she worked there? Could she have lied, the store said she couldn’t have worked there until 14 but her dad would have had to okay it along with the school

www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-meghan-markle-once-work-humphrey-yogart-1574509?amp=1 - do you trust Newsweek as a source of Meghan’s words

I’ve linked to the child labour laws in place in the states.
They’re not that confusing, so perhaps a different less passive aggressive emoji might be more helpful

Womenandwomenfirst · 23/07/2022 10:10

Certainly Meghan had the sort of background which can produce a spoilt brat, with estranged parents bending over backwards (see Mildred Pierce). Throw living in LA into the mix and a good dose of ambition and…. I’m sure there are numerous Meghans , except MM bagged a prince (though hardly a prince among men).

I think the press have gone very lightly on Doria. Imagine if Carole Middleton had had her “interesting” history. Actually poor old Doria looks as if she has gone quietly, albeit with quite a few million $$ from a peculiar company in the bank…

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:14

Ohno

Ahh... you are not disputing she worked there. I thought you were.

13 or 14, who knows. If she said 13, that appears to be wrong. She worked there at 14 according to the Company.

But no big deal is it? (silly question, it probably is and that will add fuel to a fire if you don't like Meghan)

The emoji is 'confused' and I was. Not sure how you think that is passive aggressive but I presume it's another thing I can't do on this thread without being accused of something.

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:18

do you trust Newsweek as a source of Meghan’s words

I am unsure what your point is. The company tweeted that she worked there, that's all.

LondonWolf · 23/07/2022 10:18

Agree to disagree yes. And I shall use capitals when I want.

And I can respond to you repeatedly referencing my comments any time I want to as well. That's how it works I am afraid.

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:19

Actually poor old Doria looks as if she has gone quietly, albeit with quite a few million $$ from a peculiar company in the bank…

What does this mean?

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:20

Have I tried to stop you? Nah. Freedom of speech and all that.

Passedmybedtime · 23/07/2022 10:23

Guys you forget meghan is an actress from LA and like all actors and actresses they all have one thing in common, so there is truth she did work there at 14 but it will be LAs definition of 14 then add a few years.

Ohnonevermind · 23/07/2022 10:23

@Roussette

there is no evidence she worked there. A store saying she worked there after sales increased 400% - I’d take that with a pinch of salt 🤔 No store is going to deny something that increases their sales.

Meghan saying she worked there - this could have formed part of her downgrading her childhood to be more down at heel. What a wonderful Cinderella story, worthy of Hollywood.

Id explain it in detail but I don’t want to make you any more Confused .

LondonWolf · 23/07/2022 10:24

🙄

This is boring for everyone so I won't respond to you again, on this matter anyway. The thread stands, no deletions that I am aware of as yet. Everyone can make up their own minds on who said what, who is responding to who and why.

Passedmybedtime · 23/07/2022 10:25

Patsy stone springs to mind, I'm 39!!!!!!!

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:29

Good grief. The store are lying. In public on Twitter. I would've thought their reputation was worth far more than lying about that.

What a reach. I'm not confused about that.

Ohnonevermind · 23/07/2022 10:34

Hollywood change their personas for roles, the tall tales embellished for sitting on Jimmy Kimmel’s couch eg Tom Cruise holding his breath under water for 5 minutes type of shit. Due to agent/publicist power no-one is fact checked or pulled up on it as they threaten to pull all stars from their stable from the show/publication who has dared question the star. I expect this pressure is being applied

Meghan is being pulled up on her revisionism as she’s a member of the Royal family and being treated as that rather than a Hollywood star.

Hollywood is the system she’s used to, she thought a more down at heel, gritty childhood would play better, so ran with it.

For that reason I struggle to believe her. Not because she’s a bad person, but because In Hollywood, the truth is ever changing

Ohnonevermind · 23/07/2022 10:37

@Roussette

there are some excellent books which talk about how Hollywood really works. Perhaps you should read some of them ? I can suggest a few if you’d like.

Roussette · 23/07/2022 10:48

I have listened to many podcasts on this sort of thing, so I am under no illusions.
Thanks for the offer anyway Smile

SeaRabbit · 23/07/2022 11:44

I agree with whoever said the 'argument' was about the way Charlotte's dress fitted or rather didn't - compare it to the little bridesmaids' dresses at Kates or Pippa's wedding - it's far too big. But then they all are, except possibly one...

Looking at this annotated photo of all the bridesmaids, Ivy has been given special treatment - she's not wearing the flower crown, and the sleeves on her dress are definitely better-fitting, and it seems her dress fits slightly better:

edition.cnn.com/2018/05/19/europe/royal-wedding-bridesmaids-page-boys-intl/index.html

She's no older - obviously it's up to Meghan, but it seems odd. And new shoes and bare feet on a hot day is no fun.

Samcro · 23/07/2022 11:46

good grief are we going back in time. just making stuff up again about charlotte and the wedding. what next? bump touching/coat flicking.
I suppose if people can't find anything real they just make it up.

who is making up stuff ?? As I said above , the story was in the press at the time and Meghan never denied the Charlotte allegations .

Roussette · 23/07/2022 12:04

How on earth can she deny all the shit thrown at her. It just adds fuel to the fire to go legal. Or even make a statement, because it has the worst of the worst crowing.

Should she be taking out lawsuits that she hired a surrogate? Or tha she carried round one of those rebirth dolls pretending that it's Archie? Or that Archie and Lili don't exist?
All that is out there.

Weddings are fraught. Kate had not long had a baby, Meghan had pre wedding nerves no doubt, and I imagine it was a misunderstanding. Unless you were actually there in the room, you cannot make assertions that this or that happened.

Everyone takes the piss when they do go down the legal route, but they can't stop the avalanche of vitriolic nastiness, all done for clickbait and money. They have to just turn the other cheek.

Yes @Samcro you are correct.

SnottyLottie · 23/07/2022 12:09

I’m only on chapter 9, but so far I would say she is coming out of this book looking good. Lots of the sources are saying how caring and empathetic she is. She’s painted as being a bit of a perfectionist and very ambitious. She can be a bit harsh when she cuts people off but again that’s seems like she has a healthy sense of worth and knows her own mind well. She was clearly frustrated with her lack of success but worked really hard to promote herself and get jobs.

I’m wondering if I’m reading it wrong and I’m meant to dislike her for all of this stuff but all I’m reading is that she was a confident, kind and hard working young woman who has flaws like the rest of us. I’d say the worst thing about her is she’s a little entitled but that’s because her parents (particularly her dad) spoiled her and gave her whatever she wanted, which sounds like a recipe for disaster for raising a child.

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 23/07/2022 12:09

Meanderings · 22/07/2022 23:55

I don't need sugary quotes about Meghan. A wrong claim is a wrong claim. Meghan isn't friends with Kristen. Clarence House sources deny Camilla made the comment about Archie's hair, they call it nonsense. Buckingham Palace sources doubt the Queen was thinking about Meghan on the day of her husband's funeral. Meghan did work for Humphrey Yogart.

Bower wrote a hatchet job because he wants to see H&M fail [out of his own mouth], the least he could do was fact check.

And it's funny seeing people picking and choosing what they believe out of that book. Claims that make the RF look suspect, questionable. Trash H or M? gobble it up.

You seem very exercised @Meanderings

What would you expect Clarence House to do? OFC they are going to deny it.

I doubt anybody who would actually read a whole book is going into it with a fan mentality one way if the other.

There do seem to be a lot of people getting very worked up about tweets and daytime telly coverage but that isn’t the same as the book.
