Loving the fact that it's killing the Mail they didn't get a scoop.

Nice low key private visit to see HM and Prince Charles.

Well played.

I wondered which royal shopped at H&M... then realised you meant Harry and Me-again.

namechangeranonymouse · 16/04/2022 19:40

@OrangeGrovesAplenty

May I ask a favor? Posters who use "woke" derisively, especially against an African American woman, can you please not do that?

"Woke" is from African American Vernacular English and its original meaning is specific to racial justice. It's been co-opted by right-wingers in the US to mean basically any social justice position they disagree with. Some of us would like to restore its original meaning. Being woke is a good thing.

Maybe if this particular African American woman had opted not to whine piteously about how badly she was being treated in a poor African country, dressed in expensive designer clothes while poverty stricken families and orphans milled about around her, we would be less inclined to deride her wokeism?
Tiredacheyandreadyforbed · 16/04/2022 19:41

So here's me googling Prince Charles in H&m, wondering what's so exciting about that, other than it would be odd.

Me too. I thought this was going to be about clothes, it's quite the disappointment.
namechangeranonymouse · 16/04/2022 19:45

MM has no right as a privately educated woman from a wealthy background, to highjack the legitimate injustices meted out to poor African American women and other racial minorities. Her 'wokeism' is just a jump onto a bandwagon she has not paid her dues to.

Squellyolwelly · 16/04/2022 19:46

It took me far longer than I’m willing to admit to realise you meant Harry and Megan.. I thought the queen had secretly gone shopping in H&M… 😩

SueSaid · 16/04/2022 19:46

@lameasahorse

I think it was good they visited privately. I am sure the Queen was pleased to see Harry.
Yes I bet she was too. Let's hope she talked him out of his next reveal, the upcoming book which I imagine will be full of varied recollections..
BoodleBug51 · 16/04/2022 19:47

Have the RF actually confirmed that this visit took place?

OrangeGrovesAplenty · 16/04/2022 19:48

So where would be an appropriate place for her to talk about the vitriol directed at her, some of it racially motivated?

Well the Sussexes have. They're still members of the family.

It was a private visit, so no need to,tell the public about it, any more than when they have other private family gatherings.

Viviennemary · 16/04/2022 19:51

I doubt the royals will confirm it as it was meant to be secret/private. Which I suppose means not to be used for netflix fodder.

Wartywart · 16/04/2022 19:52

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 16/04/2022 19:53

Can't believe that, years after Harry and Meghan left the UK because the daily mail advised people to hate them, people still bother to hate them.

If you don't like them, don't bother engaging with any of this. It's not like either of them give a shit about any of you. You're sat, probably at home, typing hatred into your phone. They're at the Hague, running an amazing event for injured veterans. Why not just go your separate ways and try to rebuild your lives.

SueSaid · 16/04/2022 19:56

I don't understand though why some people are so excited that he kept it secret from the media. This again make him look like his previous litany of woes were embellished. He could do stuff privately couldn't he?

Billandben444 · 16/04/2022 20:07

As I'm old enough to still refer to it as Hennes, I have no idea what you're all on about 😉

LidlMiddleLover · 16/04/2022 20:16

Just a way to gain publicity without actually having the hassle of a public vist here

Rhondapearlman · 16/04/2022 20:21

Poor Haz has Stockholm syndrome.

Lunificent · 16/04/2022 20:28

I’m sure the situation is much more boring than people want to think.
From what I remember reading, The Queen liked Meghan.
All that will have happened is that they stopped off to see family on the way to the Invictus games. They and family enjoyed a catch up and that was that.

Meanings shift over time. Embrace it.

No but does this not in fact prove he could do things in private?

I hope he's okay at the games what with Netflix crew trailing his every move.. I thought all those cameras and clicks triggered something or maybe he's over that now.

notanotheroneagain · 16/04/2022 21:00

The Fail triggers something.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/04/2022 21:00

SalsaLove · 16/04/2022 21:04

@Soffit

So privacy was always totally achievable. It gives a lot of credibility to the open secret that the Royals choose to accept every ounce of publicity afforded to them. Several of Princess Diana's staff said as much.

There is nothing 'accidental' about the Royals being papped. How often is Elon Musk accidentally papped? It also proves that the tales of being hounded by the press were basically bullshit and the tantrum was more about being disliked or unpopular.
