Prince Andrew and his 60 teddy bears

This is such a strange story. Why would a grown man behave like this? It sounds more like the actions of a small child.

"Prince Andrew had a bed piled high with stuffed animals and toys and would "shout and scream" if any of the royal servants knocked them out of place, a former royal cop has claimed...

Speaking about the cuddly toy collection, Page revealed that he and the other security officers were shown a laminated picture of the 50 or 60 stuffed toys positioned on the bed.

He added: “The reason for the laminated picture was if those bears weren’t put back in the right order by the maids, he would shout and scream.”

@donkeymcdonkface eh why is ‘swearing like a trooper’ a good characteristic of a representative of state Confused

donkeymcdonkface · 18/01/2022 13:44

@anotherviewtoyou meant in a lighthearted way ........ to say that she is a very down-to-earth, normal 'no airs' person. Get a grip.

Ah so a ‘normal’ person swears like a trooper so she is a good state representative as she appeals to the commoners as being just like them.ok then. Confused

So to recap we’ve got a ‘lovely’ man who beats his defences dog, a princess who shoots her mouth off swearing at everyone (and this is apparently a good thing), an obnoxious arrogant prat who is in court for having sex with a trafficked minor and a prince who ‘just likes things done the way he likes them’ or he had a tantrum at his staff. Well done Queenie! What an amazing family you’ve raised.

BeMoreGoldfish · 18/01/2022 14:26

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche this doesn’t surprise me either. The deifying of Phillip after his death was utterly nauseating - he always struck me as a thoroughly nasty piece of work. But then I don’t understand all the “isn’t she lovely” bullshit about the Queen either. Cold hearted woman through and through Hmm.

ParkheadParadise · 18/01/2022 14:33

The whole family are fucked up.

Unfortunately, I can never think of Prince Edward without remembering the front page photo of him beating his Labrador with a stick.

If the link doesn't work, it's on Google.

It looks as if he is knighting the dog!

(Another report seems to disagree about whether there was any beating with the stick - or any cruelty. )

@AngelicaElizaAndPeggy

Ah, our brilliant royal family Hmm.

Let's not forget that famous anecdote about Andrew entering a room - he noticed that nobody stood up to bow at him and said, patronisingly, 'let's try that again, shall we.' before stepping out and re-entering for a second go.

The thing is that the royals have always been twats throughout history, it's just that we don't usually hear all the ins and outs.

He came to my work once, long short story it was military related, and my boss told me to practise my curtseying. I said no, and was banned from meeting him!

Could have been your boss trying to creep to a royal? These days even the Queen doesn't insist on a curtsey. "up to the individual". Though the family do it...

If this was a military organisation it might have been to do with the military ranks Andrew held, those of which he has now been stripped.
Frollop · 19/01/2022 07:53

My friend worked for the Royal family. She said everyone was nice except Andrew who would treat the staff with no respect.

He came to our place as at the time he was Commander in Chief. I said I'd happily shake his hand, make him a cup of tea but no, that wasn't good enough. The clerk in the other building practically scraped the ground with her curtsey, I know because I was looking out the window! I'm not anti royalist by any means but I wasn't curtseying and that was that.

Odd how no one on MN can be said to reasonably criticise H & M.
No, they are always "frothing" or "raging". Usually at things that are "not true" because of the publications they appear in.

It's a mystery to me how anyone can still believe these two are honest and speak the truth

BadgerB · 19/01/2022 14:49

Oops sorry about the post above. Didn't realise I was on an "Andrew" thread....

Well said

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche

My father was based in Malta (Royal Navy) in the 50s and used to take Prince Philip water skiing.

The tales my father told about him....

No wonder his sons don't know how to treat others.

Do tell us more!
MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 19/01/2022 16:04

Daren't - it's grim. 🤢

That's interesting. What was Charles like I wonder?

According to my late grandmother's best friend who was Woman of the Bedchamber to the QM before and after George VI died the children were a very mixed bunch. Charles; sweet, diffident, shy, grateful, more intelligent than people thought, scared of his father. Anne; sharp, highly intelligent, very funny, didn't suffer fools, very polite to staff, not scared of anybody. Andrew; stupid, arrogant, rude, entitled, sometimes funny but not often, jealous and quite bitter even as a child. Also not scared of anybody. Edward; more like Charles though prone to small bouts of arrogance which he was usually very sorry for afterwards. Not bitter, average intelligence.

🤣

@UnicornsReal

My father would turn in his grave if I spilled the beans.

It's really eggy/icky/🤢 with regards to the treatment/taking advantage of women.

MyCatHatesPCRTests · 19/01/2022 19:41

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche - the rumours of affairs are true then, I take it?

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 19/01/2022 19:50

@MyCatHatesPCRTests

With bells on.

This involved quite a few people in the arrangements.

My father was genuinely conflicted about this behaviour.

DingleyDel · 20/01/2022 07:32

I love the fact that the Ghislane documentary threw in this little story about Andrew. Completely irrelevant really but a good way of sticking the knife in even more (which he completely deserves). This story is completely believable. He definitely has a teddy collection as it was corroborated by Elizabeth Day the writer who was introduced to Andrews Teddy’s on a trip to the palace. She commented on how odd it was that a grown man found stuffed toys so amusing. I feel so sorry for all the staff who have to wait on these people. Sickening really.
