Prince Andrew and his 60 teddy bears

This is such a strange story. Why would a grown man behave like this? It sounds more like the actions of a small child.

"Prince Andrew had a bed piled high with stuffed animals and toys and would "shout and scream" if any of the royal servants knocked them out of place, a former royal cop has claimed...

Speaking about the cuddly toy collection, Page revealed that he and the other security officers were shown a laminated picture of the 50 or 60 stuffed toys positioned on the bed.

He added: “The reason for the laminated picture was if those bears weren’t put back in the right order by the maids, he would shout and scream.”

Unfortunately, I can never think of Prince Edward without remembering the front page photo of him beating his Labrador with a stick.

If the link doesn't work, it's on Google.

Tomorrow's Sun front cover says it's 5 teddies but it's a massive wtf story.

5 teddies....not the 60 we were promised then??

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 18/01/2022 01:53

Two Beds Andy, perhaps - one bed with a selected 5, and another mahoosive bed for the rest of the teddy-commune.

SunshineOnKeith · 18/01/2022 06:13

@SilkLabrador

Because when you google PA in the news it's better to have an article about teddy bears than it is about having sex with a teenager.
Basically this.

Interesting that there's a flurry of Meghan and Harry stories this week too.

Just a coincidence of course Hmm

YourenutsmiLord · 18/01/2022 06:47

Thank God the rest of the British population is kind, considerate and only have 1 teddy max.

Do any of them have any redeeming qualities!! I don’t know how anyone supports. the monarchy. Full of spoilt, petulant, self-entitled and unintelligent individuals who believe they are better than everyone else. That’s disgusting hitting a poor defenceless animal.

AllThePogs · 18/01/2022 09:24

The more I learn about them, the more awful they all seem.

It is nice to know that one of them was lovely.

Plenty of them are apparently lovely to work for, based on the experience of a number of family members. Not heard anything specifically about Andrew though.

Covidclaire · 18/01/2022 09:30

Apparently Charles is also prone to hissy fits when things are not just so

I’ve heard that Charles likes many things a particular way but he’s very clear about his likes and dislikes. I’ve also heard he is very big on thanking his household staff, a big fan of personal letters of thanks I believe.

SprayedWithDettol · 18/01/2022 09:36

I really wish the whole bloody lot of them could face the consequences of their actions or, if not abusers, go and live quietly so we didn’t have to hear from them again. Surely all this crap shows very clearly that an hereditary HOS is a nonsense. And yes I know that we could end up with a trump, but he was removed after 4 years and you didn’t have to bow to him.

Except we hear just as much about entitled behaviour of both kids and husbands here on MN.... daily!

Its nice to hear the other side - the info I had was from several journalists who have travelled around with him when he is doing events, and watched him with the people around him. I would imagine that if you are raised to think your family has a god given right to rule it must be very hard to keep life in perspective.
Anotherviewtoyou · 18/01/2022 09:53

The bar is low when the ‘lovely’ one also beats his dog - and that’s being caught doing so in public. You would really wonder what goes on behind closed doors.

Colleague knew both Charles and Andy through the Navy. Charles was very popular when he was in command of a minesweeper. Andrew less popular, made the most of his royal status and was definitely not 'one of the lads".

AngelinaFibres · 18/01/2022 10:10

@AllThePogs

It suggests a lack of attachment to parents.
It's boarding school syndrome. Attachment to toys not people because you were sent at 7
AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 18/01/2022 10:24

Ah, our brilliant royal family Hmm.

Let's not forget that famous anecdote about Andrew entering a room - he noticed that nobody stood up to bow at him and said, patronisingly, 'let's try that again, shall we.' before stepping out and re-entering for a second go.

The thing is that the royals have always been twats throughout history, it's just that we don't usually hear all the ins and outs.

donkeymcdonkface · 18/01/2022 11:24

Princess Anne is fab, swears like a trooper and is a top woman!!

You can stay in cottages in some of the royal estates (for not much money) and at one I stayed at, there were plenty of estate staff there happy to tell stories :)

Almost all of them complimentary and funny and within the theme of 'entertaining tourists' with anecdotes... with one exception: Andrew. They hated him there. Enough that they are comfortable slagging him off to anyone who'll listen. Spoilt, obnoxious, not very bright, rude... in short "no one here has anything good to say about him".

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 18/01/2022 12:10

My father was based in Malta (Royal Navy) in the 50s and used to take Prince Philip water skiing.

The tales my father told about him....

No wonder his sons don't know how to treat others.

I’ve never heard that. Shock

That’s appalling

BadgerB · 18/01/2022 12:15

I half-heard this about "the Prince" as i was waking up this morning. Naturally I thought of little Louis. Then heard it was actually Andrew....

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 18/01/2022 12:21

Former RN crew members of the royal yacht Britannia have plenty of admiration for Anne, and loathing for Andrew. I used to work with one of them (he had retired from the navy) who was a very level-headed and kind-hearted man, and he just utterly despised Andrew and told me they all did and hated Andrew being aboard.
