It's a girl.

Congratulations to both. Look forward to finding out what they've named her!

Florence is a nice name, although it always reminds me of when my exDH and his family were once travelling through Italy and saw a nice town called Firenze. They couldn’t understand why they had never heard of it 😂😂

ajandjjmum · 20/09/2021 16:45

@MsHedgehog Then start a thread to bemoan the hypocrisy, but let this one be joyful for Beatrice - heaven knows, apart from the baby, she's had little to be thankful for recently.

And yes, there are some of the biggest critics on MN, but also biggest supporters. Let everyone fight that out on an appropriate thread.

@SirGawain - Filippa is the Italian version of Philippa and her husband Edoardo is Italian. It means lover of horses and considering the Royal Family are keen horse persons I thought it was quite apt.

upinaballoon · 20/09/2021 16:51

It seemed that Diana started a tradition by coming out of hospital with baby in arms, and Catherine continued it. That might have been a short-lived tradition.
Technology allows a granny in Lancashire to see a baby who was born a few minutes ago in Kent. I think it's quite nice for there to be a gap of a day or two before it's announced, giving them time to take breath, before we and the press are on their backs, nagging for a picture.

I think Andrew and Sarah did well in choosing the names Beatrice and Eugenie.
Laura Helen

SnottyLottie · 20/09/2021 16:52

Ooh I’m guessing it will be something Italian which is commonly used in England.

Victoria or Isabella would be the safe choice (works in both languages and has royal associations, Victoria is also one of Eugenie’s middle names and Isabella is a variant of Elizabeth)

Maybe Seraphina to honour Granny/Elisabetta for Great Granny/Filippa for Great Grandad

Alessia/Alice - traditional royal name/Philip’s mother’s name
Alessandra/Alexandra - Queen’s middle name
Elena/Helena - one of Eugenie’s middle names
Emilia/Amelia- Georgian
Liliana - nod to the Queen although maybe a bit to similar to Lilibet

I’m hoping for something along the lines of Valentina/Vanessa/Giulietta/Theodora myself!

I’m hoping for a less conventional middle name in line with his son’s unusual middle name. Hopefully she can have a cute little nickname too!

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/09/2021 16:57

Eduardo's mother is called Nikki so perhaps Nicola will be one of the new baby's names.

smilesy · 20/09/2021 16:58

Does anyone know if the little girl arrived around her due date ? It only seems five minutes to me since the pregnancy was announced. I’ve really lost track of time…

ajandjjmum · 20/09/2021 17:01
@ajandjjmum Didn’t realise we had the thread police with us...! I’m commenting on a thread about the latest addition to the RF, and the hypocrisy in the response to that announcement is very relevant.

Although, it’s a bit of an exaggeration that she’s had little to be thankful for lately... Do you know her personally?
We haven't - I'm not. I won't engage with you as I don't want to derail the thread.

@CarolynMartens

Ghislaine?
Ouch!!! That's mean.......but hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
KingsleyShacklebolt · 20/09/2021 17:22

Google tells me they announced it in May and said the baby was due in the Autumn. She was probably 12-16 weeks when they made the announcement, perhaps they kept it quiet for a bit longer than that because of Philip's death in April?

6lbs 2oz is on the small side though, so who knows. As long as both mother and baby are doing well.

I saw a photo of her planting a tree last week and she looked very uncomfortable and had very puffy ankles, she was admitted Friday afternoon so my bet is that she was induced , maybe high blood pressure. I felt sorry for her because that’s how so was. It sounds like the baby is small but healthy . She is apparently a lovely young woman, albeit with ghastly parents, do I hope she’s doing ok .

Maybe the baby will be Elizabeth /Eliza Helena (after her sister )

dearfanny · 20/09/2021 17:37

Fergie?

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/09/2021 17:40

Her older brother (Eduardo's son) is called Christopher so I am guessing they will choose a fairly traditional name for the new arrival, as one traditional and one 'out there' name wouldn't go well together.

Personally I think it would be great if they chose Sarah. It's a lovely name and a classic that won't date.

MoggyP · 20/09/2021 17:43

MN users are some of the biggest critics on whatever H&M do, so sometimes it’s necessary to bring the hypocrisy to their attention

What, like announcing a birth about 36 hours after it happened rather than 48 (Lili) or announcing the onset of labour after the baby had been born (Archie)?

MoggyP · 20/09/2021 17:43

Maybe Edwina Sarah Elizabeth to be ka Eddie?
SnottyLottie · 20/09/2021 17:46

Eugenie has referred to the baby as “your new angel” and now I’m thinking Angelica. I care way too much about this girl’s name 😆 I have terrible baby name obsession.

Please don’t be as disappointing as Lilibet Diana, Beatrice & Edo🤞

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/09/2021 17:49

Maybe Edwina Sarah Elizabeth to be ka Eddie?

Or Philippa Sarah Elizabeth AKA Pippa/Phil?

NotAnotherPushyMum · 20/09/2021 17:50

Seraphina
Valentina
Francesca

Something along those lines, long and flowing.

Serenster · 20/09/2021 18:09

Beatrice is said to be very interested in the life of Queen Victoria, so I am guessing Alice, Helena or Adelaide for her daughter, bring the only really useable names from Victoria’s daughters these days. (Well, I’m hoping for the sake of the newborn that she doesn’t go for Alexandrina, Augusta or Feodora Grin )

Gooseysgirl · 20/09/2021 18:13

I think one of her names will almost certainly be Victoru

smilesy · 20/09/2021 18:18

@Serenster I read that as Fedora like the hat 😂

GinIronic · 20/09/2021 18:19

Phillipa or Bettypa.

Peaseblossum22 · 20/09/2021 18:23

I like Feodora too but I think it’s unlikely , it could be Alice or Maud though
