This according to guess who. The DM of course. To avoid getting papers served says the article. Maybe he's just gone for a nice break. Accompanied by Fergie.

@Farfalle88

I just find it so odd that his ex wife is with him. What a very strange arrangement they have.
Meal ticket.

How else would she live in palatial splendour other than standing by the most honourable man she knows?

ssd · 09/09/2021 20:52

@Roussette

Like any mother probably

Every family has trials and tribulations

Sure

I dont see any peodos dodging justice in mine

CathyorClaire · 09/09/2021 20:56

Why would anyone believe Charles would be ruthless

He's floated his intentions to 'slim down' the monarchy for years. It plays very well with the peasants yet he'll still get the bomb proof sovereign grant, still be able to palm off endless expenses onto the taxpayer, still have the Duchy of Lancaster as his personal fiefdom and wallet.

The question must be why wouldn't he?

Oh poor Queen at her age in her 90s and having just been widowed, and now her son brings this scandal to her

She's been sticking two fingers up at the unquiet plebs on scandalous son's behalf since Newsnight.

No reason she couldn't have been quietly supportive in giving him endless palaces to cavort around in private but she's been active in being seen to have him with her.

Roussette · 09/09/2021 21:18

Yep.
Pretending to slim down the monarchy is a good ruse

Pc is as bad as the test of them, natural wastage has made that happen not him

Plumtree391 · 09/09/2021 21:23

The Queen hasn't said anything about this in public, not one word. I don't know why people are making assumptions about her. She probably does talk to him about it but we are never going to hear the details of the conversations, neither should we.

Roussette · 09/09/2021 21:25

The Queen never gives an opinion on anything.

We don't know what she thinks

Plumtree391 · 09/09/2021 21:28

Exactly.

I'm sure she is quite capable of giving her family members a dressing down when appropriate but, quite rightly, that is private.

dontyouwish2 · 09/09/2021 22:14

Yes, but she does give out statements of 'recollections may vary' now and again. So not exactly quiet on her opinions.

ssd · 09/09/2021 22:27

I don't care what the queen thinks, anymore than she cares what i think.

This tugging the forelock shit needs to stop. Believing they are better than us and deserve our money and respect will keep the andrew and fergies of this world in their castles.

twinklystar23 · 09/09/2021 22:29

"However the royal family meets thousands of people"

Would hope they might remember the ones they snagged!Grin

twinklystar23 · 09/09/2021 22:30

*snagged not snagged Grin

twinklystar23 · 09/09/2021 22:32

Aargh !! Shagged !!

I expect they do - shagged that is :-).

Recollections do vary when you hear about something from more than one person, or second hand.

Er ... when? He was with her at Beatrice's wedding and Philip's funeral. I don't think she could have banned him from his own daughter's wedding, and banning him from his father's funeral seems rather harsh. Have they been seen in public together otherwise? Or is she just not supposed to see him at all, even privately?

Plumtree391 · 10/09/2021 04:52

I think the queen is in a very difficult position, however she probably believes him and thinks it will all work out eventually. She has been seen riding with him but she rides at times with her children anyway. The press photographers managed to get long range shots of them on their private ground and no doubt they will again.

It has got to the point where Andrew has to say/do something - carefully, under advisement. This business cannot rumble on indefinitely.

Anon778833 · 10/09/2021 04:59

I very much doubt the Queen believes him. She must know exactly what he's like.

Like he did in that interview where he couldn't have looked more guilty? 😬.

Roussette · 10/09/2021 05:04

Yes.
After the Maitlis interview she was seen to be going to church with him a day or two later. That was a clear message to the public that she supported him. It was unnecessary.
That was a defining moment for me, I felt very differently about the royals after that.

Obviously we're not seeing them together at the moment as he's in hiding.
Although they've just had a Balmoral log cabin lunch together supposedly

Plumtree391 · 10/09/2021 05:04

I did say 'carefully', under advisement'.

Farfalle88 · 10/09/2021 06:46

I think she probably does believe him. TheQueen am elderly woman Who has led a very sheltered life in personal terms. I doubt she has any clue about the sort of murky world that Epstein inhabited. It’s possible Charles believes him too. It’s clear that Andrew himself does not feel he’s done anything wrong, so he is probably quite convincing . Unlike how he comes across in the interview.

Roussette · 10/09/2021 07:58

Gosh... call me cynical.. but this to me is a major diversionary tactic.

Friday 7pm a programme called 'Black to Front' and the Queen and RF now professing to be supporting the BLM movement.
Sir Ken Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant for London revealed to Channel 4 that he had discussed the topic of racism with members of the royal household in the wake of George Floyd’s murder in the US.

In an interview with the broadcaster, he said: “I have discussed with the royal household this whole issue of race particularly in the last 12 months since the George Floyd incident.

Here

What a shame the Queen didn't try and stand up against the vile racist press Meghan had to endure. It is possible to do as has been seen before (Q's lawyers letters to all the press telling them not to take pics up at Balmoral just recently)
The RF PR machine is in overdrive, especially as VG's court case is being heard on Monday.

CathyorClaire · 10/09/2021 08:39

Have they been seen in public together otherwise?

Horseriding in Windsor in a known pap haunt two days after the interview then a church service the following January where he was riding shotgun in her car.

She doesn't need to voice an opinion.

Viviennemary · 10/09/2021 09:22

You can bet Charles won't be slimming himself down. It will be all the hangers on that will go. But as most of them are elderly it will just be a matter of not housing the younger ones. I don't think they get peppercorn rents in palatial splendour. What a gravy train. We must be mugs.

I’ve always been a royalist but this debacle with Andrew is really making me think twice. No one is above the law and it’s disappointing to see the Queen is complicit in PA’s avoidance of due process

I was being sarcastic. That is what is always trumpeted when other royals resign, give interviews etc. But the commentators have said nothing of the sort with her son mingling with known peado traffickers and being accused of involvement himself.

Apparently she can't stop Andrew tagging along to church with her and horse riding, so they are papped as being supportive, yet she can put down a hard line to those who want to step-down and be like everyone else within the family.
