I like the idea and I like the video. (Not that keen on the big desk) And I though MM looked...alive!

Not sure who the other woman was. But there was good chemistry.

Dotty why should I justify what Harry is doing? Why are you so worried about it?

Sigh

It was a lighthearted video with a very famous comedienne and actress
You obviously just want to use him to insult in as many ways as you can think of
Luckily, I don't suppose your opinion matters, as mine doesn't either. However, the initiative is well supported and many have come on board with it and it's gathering momentum

So I really don't care on the Harry thing one bit to be honest. Nor should you.

AnnunciataZ · 06/08/2021 11:05

@Viviennemary

I didn't like Smartworks and of course it's now been abandoned for pastures new. This new set-up is a vanity project. Slick video with celebs on board. What more do you need Hmm. Just read a scathing piece on the Daily Express written by Carole Malone. Very Meghan bashing . I agree with most of it. Surprise! but Harry escapes all blame which I didn't agree with.
What on earth was wrong with Smartworks?
Viviennemary · 06/08/2021 11:06

Ok She is still involved. I was wrong.

Maireas · 06/08/2021 11:07

@Roussette Princess Eugenie has worked in the Arts
Indeed she has. However, her career trajectory has been significantly different to other women's, I would suggest. Maybe she'll be a marvellous mentor? Who knows.
Good points from pp about who would need this kind of support, and why.

Bloody hell - that's the first time someone's said that on an M & H thread! Grin
Maireas · 06/08/2021 11:08

Smartworks is a great initiative that has helped a lot of women get back into the workplace!

“nor should you” Confused Who are you to tell me what to think about anything? Look, you support the Sussexes come what may, but others don’t see them through such rose-coloured spectacles. I said a few posts back that I approve of the mentoring thing, so I’m not always anti them..but I am entitled to think that Harry has behaved badly and is making himself look a complete plonker.

Maireas · 06/08/2021 11:09

@Cacacoisfarraige

I’m sure that Harry outside the window is a representation of all the balls women have to juggle to rejoin the workforce and they’re often still excluded

I’m expecting a handwritten note to explain it 😉

Roussette · 06/08/2021 11:11

Dotty there is no point in discussing this. I tried to explain about the humourous aspect of the interview.
You want to call him a court jester, a clown and practically useless.
Your prerogative to just throw insults at someone

NorthernWhiteRhino · 06/08/2021 11:11

To be fair though, love them or hate them, they get people talking - so whatever initiative they do put their names to get tonnes of publicity.

Roussette · 06/08/2021 11:12

Oh and a 'plonker' ... forgot that one!

SueSaid · 06/08/2021 11:15

I didn't say it wasn't. My point was you don't need a 100quid bag to get back into work and if this is an example of 'mentorship' celebs push it is no wonder folk criticise aspects of it. We are allowed opinions! Women have their own voices and should be empowered to use them you know.

OMG surely not “plonker”! What horrific abuse. I hope you’re reporting these posters for using such offensive slurs 🙄
Maireas · 06/08/2021 11:25

@JaniieJones - my remark was in response to another poster, not you.
Never at any point would I suggest that you (or anyone else) is not entitled to their opinions, in fact I agree with many of yours, though that's not relevant.
As a feminist of many years and much activism I know how important women's voices are.
I actually agree about the handbags! I just know that some of the training has been helpful to some women, 'tis all.

It certainly does that. Publicity indeed!
Roussette · 06/08/2021 11:27

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken
Lol
I suppose court jester, useless, a clown and all the rest of it put together is not enough for you!
Go for it! More insults!

Personally (and this is just my opinion) to me... it just detracts from anything anyone wants to say.

They really don’t register as offensive, in any capacity, least of all to someone juggling outside a window.

Rainy365 · 06/08/2021 11:32

Could you post a link please where she has excused herself?
I haven't seen it.

I’ve asked multiple times have I missed her own pledge. Nobody has said she has. So she has so far not pledged to do this. It’s not unreasonable to assume she has therefore excused herself/thinks she’s done enough/doesn’t need to do it, whichever way you want to look at it.

If you want me to comment on William being a hypocrite because I’ve criticised Meghan then I will do. I actually don’t follow environmental initiatives that in-depth, I do my bit, could do more, and believe caring for the environment is important but I don’t have enough time to dedicate to it and my focus is mostly on children/women issues. So I don’t know the detail around the earthshot initiative (I know it’s a prize of some sort but that’s about it) and I heard headlines about the Queen asking for an energy exemption from a royal building a few days ago but I’m not sure what it’s referring to. Was it the Queen that asked though? If it’s William’s initiative and he is the one asking for exemption then yes that is hypocritical too. But I think it’s unfair to criticise William on something the Queen has asked for. They are individuals and the Queen outranks William anyway. But I really don’t know enough of the specifics of that case so maybe I’ve misunderstood. The best example would be if William told people they should dedicate 40 minutes of their time to pick up litter and he didn’t do it himself. yes I would be saying exactly the same about him as I am about Meghan, that there is no excuse in the world for him not to do it. Would you also defend William as doing enough already like you are Meghan?

This isn’t the only thing I’ve critiqued about this initiative as I’ve already posted about my other thoughts on it. I’ve also admitted i conflated my own issues with the aim of this one so I’m happy to be corrected and acknowledge if I’ve got something wrong. I will acknowledge that she’s picked an important cause and would love to see her and others really do more to tackle this issue.

I can not see any communication on her website about what she is going to do next / how she is going to follow up on this initiative. As far as it looks to me people pledge (hopefully they follow through with it) and that’s that.

@Vivienne where do you read it though it would be interesting to know where you read or heard the mis-information that she has abandoned the project?
Roussette · 06/08/2021 11:48

Rainy365

The Royal family are a complete entity and I really don't think William can divest himself of any decisions the Queen or the 'firm' makes because he wasn't the one to lobby parliament to exempt himself from the laws that apply to us.
And no, it wasn't one building. It's Scotland where the Queen is the largest landowner and it's secretly lobbying Scottish Ministers to be exempt on all her land from any green energy laws. She is the only person in the country not to be required to facilitate construction of pipelines to heat buildings using renewable energy.
So.. no.. not just one royal building. 91,000 acres of land in Scotland.

But William is writing a book or a preface of a book on climate change, renewable energy, and repairing the environment.
Ironic...

seems unless your Meghan and then you should never say or do anything.

@Roussette I do hope your Joking,

Roussette · 06/08/2021 12:07

Nope. There was a thread on here applauding the book he is writing. It is in fact just a preface.
But he is giving the Earthshot Prize out.. this Prize is meant to inspire and celebrate actions to meet environmental challenges. October this year at Alexandra Palace.
Doesn't cover renewable energy for the RF though!

Announcing London as the first host city, Prince William said: "By hosting COP26 conference in Glasgow just weeks after our inaugural awards, the UK is helping lead the world in tackling climate change"

Not sure Glasgow will be too impressed with this... given the secret lobbying of the Scottish Ministers.

Downunderduchess · 06/08/2021 12:09

I saw it, I liked it. I was also impressed with the decor of the house. I think they both spoke well. I’m also a fan of her personal style.
