I really liked Diana and I hope the statue will do her justice. I wonder if it will be televised live. I expect so.

@CrazyCatsAndKittens I think you are right there. There is no “spark” and I don’t think the statue manages to provoke much of an emotional response.

@CrazyCatsAndKittens

The Mario Testino photos of her were beautiful. She was so radiant in them. I think that radiance is missing. I know it’s a sculpture not a photo but even a sculpture should capture a persons spirit.
I think that's a fair comment. I honestly doubt so many would have been so critical of the flaws in capturing her image if the pose had been reminiscent of her or if the statue had in any way caught even a fraction of her personality.

The problem is it doesn't tick any boxes. It does not resemble her visually. It's not depicting her compassion or personality and it's not recognisable as her in any capacity. By missing all the key marks that would have made it clearly a statue of Diana it might as well be a statue of any women.

Ooh. There’s a whole thread on this in AIBU. It just came up on my alerts.

The more I look at it, the more I like it.

today i saw it on a newspaper cover, thought 'not good'.

i think it fell victim into the disharmony between the brothers. nobody couldnt deal with it properly.
