The royal family

If Diana had lived and re-married

As it is coming up to what would have been Diana's 60th birthday, I sometimes wonder if she lived what her life would have turned out like. Obviously its only speculation and we will never know.

If Diana re-married and possibly had more children what effect do you think this would have had on her public image?

Would she still have been a member of the royal family if she re-married and would she still be seen as royal?

@Viviennemary

Sometimes I watch clips from the Australian news. They are very unpopular there. Austrslians aren't keen on phoney posers.
Take it from an Australian that most Australians have bigger things to worry about than Harry and Meghan! Plus the media is mainly Murdoch-controlled so I wouldn't say it's a particularly accurate reflection of public opinion. Some of the tabloids there make the Sun look highbrow.

Anyway, how did a thread about Diana turn to Harry and Meghan?

After a time, that becomes your only option

I beg your pardon? Did we lose 200 years somehow and go back to a time when a woman in her late 20s is “on the shelf” and has no other prospects if she has had the misfortune to not yet acquire a proposal? Hmm

Irrespective of whether she ultimately married William or not Kate was wealthy, highly educated, had a good social network and a stable family life. Hardly someone who would have ended up as a Miss Havisham type.

And maybe she did make up her own mind - and her decision was that she wanted William. She wouldn’t be the first woman I know to have spent several years with their partner before they ultimately got married.

It does if you've literally done nothing for 10 years in the expectation that you will be marrying a Prince! Most other people wait to get married but still have a life outside the relationship.

To be fair. Catherine was mobbed and harassed whenever she went out -newspapers at the time confirm that - so holding down a “ real “ job was tricky . I do remember she wanted to be involved in an all female charity boat/ roaring event and someone at the palace said no.

She definitely took part in some sort of all-women rowing event. But it might've been when she and William were on a break.

How do people "know" that Kate went to St Andrews to pursue William? There's still the small matter of him falling in love with her - she could hardly force him to!

I like to think Diana would have remarried, probably to a very wealthy philanthropist who could afford to keep her in the lifestyle she was used to while they did charitable work together.
Perhaps she would have moved abroad?
I think Charles would still have remarried.

I think the Middletons have an easier life given that MIL is no longer with them & it seems William appreciates a family . I suspect If Diana were still here it may not have gone as smoothly. ( Given William was her son )

I remember at the time (a few weeks before her death) rumors were swirling that she was going to head to Hollywood and try show biz. She said to one of the reporters circling the yacht, "Guess what I'm going to do next!" or something to that effect. Years later, Kevin Costner said she had signed on or would sign on to be in Bodyguard 2.

That would have been a disaster for all concerned, except Costner, I think.
