Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

you are conveniently forgetting disingenuous, disrespect, attacks/ destroying the royal family....

bingo all the way indeed

You forgot attention seeking
Emmelina · 06/06/2021 18:53

It’s like your bloke coming home with a big bunch of flowers after he put your head through the window the night before.

MaMelon · 06/06/2021 18:53

But obviously those who dislike them intensely will think the worst

And likewise those who like them a lot will think the best of them, regardless.

Six of one...

@PatchworkElmer

I’m baffled as to why they’d want to use the name of someone they’ve indirectly claimed has looked the other way to racism and been the cause of ‘generational pain’. Genuinely baffled. It doesn’t tally with what they’ve said in the media recently.

I like the name, am glad baby is here safely and wish them well… but it does feel like an odd gesture to me.

Other than a vague claim, along with many wrong statements, I winder what the 'racism' was? If it was wondering about the child's skin colour how is that different from wondering about hair colour, taxi-door ears and any other family characteristic?
dorangme · 06/06/2021 18:53

Wow, I think I've heard it all now. And they try to pretend the criticism is nothing to do with race.

It's actually shocking isn't it!

Viviennemary · 06/06/2021 18:53

Its total disrespect. Also they've almost copied Princess Charlotte's name. Dreadful.

Originalyellowbelly · 06/06/2021 18:54

How dare they, after the way they have treated the royal family, the Queen especially, to now use her very personal nickname. They really have no shame.

Roussette · 06/06/2021 18:54

Just name her Elizabeth Diana, and call her Lilibet, if that's what you want to do

Because they want to call her 'Lili'. That's what their official statement implies anyway

Tippexy · 06/06/2021 18:55

It has been widely reported how upset the Queen has been over their recent (and not so recent) actions. The name is a truly bizarre choice.

Roussette · 06/06/2021 18:56

And likewise those who like them a lot will think the best of them, regardless.

Yes obviously
That is why I said about 'two sides of a coin'

That's what six of one means....

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 06/06/2021 18:56

Why, where have they used the name "Charlotte"?
dorangme · 06/06/2021 18:56

And yet other posters think they should have used Elizabeth Diana. Literally can't win.

Tippexy · 06/06/2021 18:57

Also it’s pretty weird to give a child a name when that child is going to have NO relationship with their namesake. Archie hasn’t even seen his British family since M&H left for Canada.

CokeDrinker · 06/06/2021 18:57

@midsomermurderess

Coke, that's not what gaslighting means.
I think you look up the meaning of gaslighting, yourself, if you think that I wasn't being gaslit by that nasty poster.

Well, if it’s been widely reported…
Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/06/2021 18:57

That will be the new narrative, the Queen was forced to agree to the name. Therefore we can still criticise them

What an odd thing to post. We'll never know whether they asked the Queen about the name, but she has no jurisdiction in the US so any objection would hardly have mattered

Maybe the irony here is that many Americans wouldn't have a clue this was the Queen's nickname if H&M hadn't made the reference. They'll know about their RF connections though, so they could just have named her Lili/Lily/whatever and been done with it

However they're the parents and it's their choice

Roussette · 06/06/2021 18:57

Yes, like we believe everything the DailyFail tells us.

TheQueensCousin · 06/06/2021 18:58

My DM has a very particular family nickname. It sounds very sweet and suits her perfectly but if either of my DSILs said that they were naming a DD this, I'd be so upset. It's a special name that is used by family but only for her.

That said I think it's wonderful that a new baby has arrived into the world safely. 👶🏼

Suppose you've not heard of covid then? It's not been their choice has it.

Tbh though I would stay the fuck away from this country too and it's judgemental inhabitants.

SpeckledyHen · 06/06/2021 18:58

FFS WhiskyIrn Bru it’s MegHan and Lilibet , not Lillibet .

MustardRose · 06/06/2021 18:58

Blimey, as far as many of you are concerned, they can't do right for doing wrong, can they?

Any excuse to stick the boot in. Again.

PresentingPercy · 06/06/2021 18:58

@fashionablefennel
Harry’s full given name is Henry. Perhaps you did not know that?. He does not have a shortened name or familiar name for his given name. Lillibet is clearly a nickname and it is not Elizabeth. The use of Harry is a choice but he’s Prince Henry.

Zeev · 06/06/2021 18:59

@Pasithea

Insult. Really.
Yea. I find it disrespectful. Only HM's parents and Prince Philip called her Lilibet.
mathanxiety · 06/06/2021 18:59

For those wondering if there is any trace of Meghan's family in either of the names of her children, there was a Lillie Ragland in Meghan's family, a real estate agent working in LA. Born 1913.

fashionablefennel · 06/06/2021 18:59

If they had called their daughter "Rose", I could understand a few eyebrows being raised, but a name chosen from his grand-mother?
Please.
